but i think its all about the quality of the new system. If the PS3 had better graphics/games, better online, similar price then it would have sold alot more than it has now.
A new system which is more expensive than the old ones have to show why they are...
Sega isnt 'screwing' anyone,
It has online play on the 360 because:
- Microsoft forces games to have online modes
- Microsoft handles all online play so Sega dont have to worry about it
If Sony had a service like Live then I am sure this game would be online for both platforms.
If you want to blame anyone then blame Sony
I honestly see the prizes as a tester, they are just seeing if it is worth doing. They will also be testing how easy it is to get 1500 gamer points.
I think you will only be able to get points of titles released during that period of time. At least most people will get 900 from Crackdown without thinking about it
demos can be great - i think Lost Planet and Crackdown proved that no end but then again for every good example there are 5 poor examples...
Motorstorm for me comes to mind, i was really happy to see a game shop in leeds with the playable demo but i was really disappointed, they should have waited and released a better version

I think it was Epic that said great games dont have demos as they dont need them (speaking about gears). Which i do have to agree with but as you say a number of games are now releasing demos as Live users are getting used to getting demos of ever game.
I also dont see Halo 3 beta as a demo, a beta involves feedback, limited numbers of users (halo 3 does seem to have basically everyone)...
firstly of all can we make sure we all see that this is a rumor,
secondly i just looked at the killzone cgi footage and to be honest, graphically, it is not much better than gears. Of course the scripted action is great and but graphically i dont think it is now so impressive.
One thing that does come to mind if this rumor is true, i thought great games didnt have demo versions. + I think the Sony hype machine would already be in action if this were true
to be fair the last few pro evo's have been poor, small updates similar to madden.
they need to start from the ground up and create a true next gen football game
i dont think it will sell out, 220,000 is more than the wii sold from launch the christmas.
The Wii sold around 200,000 from launch to christmas (4 weeks i think). So the PS3 will be alot less than that. I am thinking around 80,000 to 100,000 in the first 2/3 weeks. I will be interested to see if the time of year actually makes that much difference because if it does then i could see 40,000 to 60,000 sold.

I see it as open world where instead of loading maps you walk/fly to get there. Personally i think the idea sounds great but hopefully it will not cost too much, a number of mmos are free now
first off i am hoping that this game is cheaper than normal games because of the lack of a full single player story, however...
alot of games now dont really offer a single player story such as Unreal Tournament, Battlefield (not sure if the newer editions do), America's Army (i used to play when it was free, not sure now)
Having said that i dont think this game will be very good, for me magic has no place in a fps.

poor article but it showed a couple of things to me...
1, how many of the PS3 games has we actually seen footage of? i have seen Resistance (of course), Motorstorm, Lair and Heavenly Sword (christmas 07). The other 7 i am yet to see anything but i am probably wrong :)
2, "Biggest blunder: Purchasing Rare" do not agree with this at all, Perfect dark wasnt too bad just not great. Viva was a good game, i loved it.

I remember the days when 4GB was hassle but on a 8mb line you can download that in a few of hours.
personally i dont think it looks too bad, you have to remember the amount of action that could be going on at any one time.
I am just glad we are finally hearing some news about this game, went dead for a good few months since october time
to be fair the users you mentioned, they were only going by what a site had reported and it was supposedly Midway that said about the releases dates.
+ totally agree about the 20gb version, shame in the UK we dont get it. I also dont want wifi, i like to use all my internet connection

Sony is one of the main sponsors of the champions league and i am pretty sure their deal will include game rights. I know in England we have an Sony advert before the start of each part of each match.
