This is one of the many reasons I don't take reviews from gaming sites seriously anymore.
The answer is no. Bethesda cut their bonuses because of a metacritic rating.
The problem is with Bethesda not metacritic.
I don't know if I would say Castlevania Lords of Shadow was better than GOW3 but they are both excellent games.
If a new Castlevania is made I will be buying it.
I liked the story in Castlevania more than GOW. I also think the world was much more interesting in Castlevania. It didn't feel like a normal place with monsters. The world itself was an integral part of the experience.
In GOW I was constantly saying OMFG when it came to boss...
The fact that a game company pays it's employees based on a metacritic score is absurd.
Fallout new vegas sold over 5 million copies. Most companies would be extremely happy with those sales numbers.
People should be mad at Bethesda not metacritic.
I like metacritic not because I think it's perfect but because there are always bias's in reviews. By taking an average of scores the metacritic score is usually more reliable than look...
@JoeIT
There used to be a thriving PC game industry. The industry kept being hostile towards gamers and the market disappeared. It wasn't one thing but some people left because of SecureROM. Others left because they had to be online constantly to play the games. Others left because of mandatory spyware included with games. Each stupid thing they do loses a percent of their customers and this added up to what the PC gaming industry is today.
Recently the c...
Correction ... nothing is bigger than Call of Duty on the xbox.
I watched the video.
It can be summed up as: "I don't like most art games and if you do f*ck off you c*nt". He actually says the swears so I'm not paraphrasing there.
He does say some art games get it right but he thinks most are boring.
Personally I would hate it if all games were the same and I like that art games try to push the limits of what a game is. I don't claim that all art games get it right but I respect that...
According to VGChartz there are 34 games bigger than Halo.

@dorron
It works both ways.
Imagine buying a game only to find out you hate it. With episodic content you don't pay for the full game you only pay for an episode. At most you would only get burned for one episode instead of the full price of a game.
The article isn't news but there is a legitimate question about used games.
Should the used game market exist?
I don't buy used games but I think used sales are important for the market.
What people are doing is they return games they have played and get credit at a store. This credit is used to get another game. Some of the games bought on credit are new which helps the industry.
I think if used game sales are elimi...

I find it odd that you have so many disagrees for telling the truth.
"We release the game. It’s cracked in two hours, it was no time for Witcher 2. What really surprised me is that the pirates didn’t use the GOG version, which was not protected. They took the SecuROM retail version, cracked it and said ‘we cracked it’ — meanwhile there’s a non-secure version with a simultaneous release. You’d think the GOG version would be the one floating a...
I haven't played it yet but I've been following the game for a while now.
The premise of the game is simple. You start off as a cloth thing and you see a mountain far off in the distance.
You are given no information about what you are, or what is at the mountain but it draws you to it. The game play consists of a journey to the mountain.
Part of the game play consists of exploring the environment and enjoying it. There are no guns, n...
The wii-u has a number of improvements over the wii.
The graphics of the wii were way below the xbox, and ps3 which meant a lot of games couldn't be ported to the wii. The wii-u has vastly improved graphics.
More memory. The wii doesn't have enough memory to run complex titles. The wii-u (if the rumors are correct) has more memory than the xbox, or ps3.
The controller on the wii worked for a lot of casual games but a lot of hardcore g...
Correction: "sales aren't AN indicator of quality".
Don't forget Dragon Age Awakening.
Dragon Age II wasn't the first bad thing released in the Dragon Age universe.
"Mass Effect 3 is highest rated game this year" doesn't mean a lot when only two months have passed and most games get released around Christmas.
Wow, a negative story about FF XIII-2 posted by ranma1. Who would have guessed! O.o
I bought FFXIII-2 and I liked it.
If they make FFXIII-3 I'll be getting that as well.
Sales for hardware platforms are generally higher than normal on their release week.
In about two months we will have a better idea of how well the Vita is doing.
Lol! That was good!
Bubble for being funny for you.
That's a false equivalence.
This guy is paid to give his opinion on games. He gave his opinion. His opinion matched what most other game sites thought. His opinion also matched what gamers thought.
He was fired for giving an accurate assessment of a poor game.
