I made a smart decision. I didn't buy Diablo III.

The price for a game always goes down after it's been on the market for a while.

You can pick up Red Dead Redemption for the xbox for $20 on amazon now. It doesn't mean no one wants it.

Implying that women can't be gamers?!

I'm a developer.

I can't say for certain how Sony developed their PSN network but it's likely that the servers that validates who you are and validates that you have "permission" to play games is also used to validate that you can make purchases from the store. It sounds like this validation process will require the validation server's software to be updated to comply with the new law.

I doubt they would want to shutdown the game ser...

I didn't miss the point but you missed mine.

I understand what EA is saying. Instead of releasing 20 to 30 games a year they want to release maybe 10 "high quality" games.

The problem with this is the games that are getting cut/changed are often the types of games I like.

I don't care if they stop making generic fps number 147 because there are tons of games like it on the market. If I want to play a generic fps I can always...

@dirigiblebill

"You can't have both. So which do you want more?"

There are games that do both so suggesting that people can't have both is moot!

Examples:
- Batman: Arkham City
- Red Dead Redemption
- Mass Effect 2
- Assassin's Creed II
- Fallout 3
- Skyrim
- Demon's Souls
- Dark Souls

What the developer's joke is trying to say is Black Ops II is SO amazing that it makes Black Ops (what they think is an amazing game) look like an old crappy video game (using Ms. Pac-man as an example).

People are turning the joke around and saying the old video game (Ms. Pac-man) is better than black ops!

@sev

I recently signed up for plus and I still haven't started all the games I've downloaded from the June 5 update!

@postedup

The best way to see what's on playstation plus is to sign into psn and check the playstation plus category. The content changes frequently.

There is a blog that has updates but even it misses content.

Ms Pac-man > Black Ops!

Financial issues aren't a concern for me but there are numerous reasons I haven't been buying many games lately.

Downloadable content: I wait for the "complete" edition now.

Disk locked content: Dragon's Dogma I'm looking at you! The reason I don't like disk locked content is the game is incomplete. They usually have "complete" editions later so why buy an incomplete game today when I can wait a while and get the comple...

"No, you knew when buying the game it was always online drm"

I doubt everyone knew about the DRM when they purchased it.

Even the people who knew about it probably thought the game would work. The game has been plagued with connection problems BECAUSE of the online DRM.

The AAA issue is complex.

To most gamers it's a rating of the quality of the game.

Originally it was used to describe the cost of developing the game by publishers (A, B, and C). As the price of making games increased they started adding additional A's so that there was more categories at the high end.

Using the publishers definition most AAA games are good but not all. Additionally some A, or B games are superior to AAA titles.

@LAZL0-Panaflex

It sounds like you liked two games from the June 5 update (Warhammer, and Infamous). Both of those games retail for $40 right now so that's a $80 value from the one update.

$80 > $50 yearly subscription fee (saved $30)
$80 > $18 3-month subscription fee (saved $62)

I don't know how long your subscription is but it sounds like you still have additional content coming to you.

Here is a samp...

@Hicken

It's even better than that.

From what I've read this is how the new playstation plus is going to work.

They have a current library of 10 games (12 for America). If you're subscribed you can download all of those games immediately (instantly getting the value of the entire year when you first sign up).

Every month 3 games are going to be removed from the library and 3 new games are going to be added. You ke...

Playstation plus isn't free but it is an amazing deal.

* update *

I find it odd how many people disagree with the facts.

The games are not free. Try getting these "free" games without paying for playstation plus. The games are included with the price of the subscription.

It's also an amazing deal. There is over $200 worth of content from the June 5 update alone. I still have a year left on my subscription f...

The irony is they lose their original fan base but the game still doesn't appeal to a wider audience.

I read her quotes and there is nothing that "hits out against violent games".

What she said is: "... I think there's room for other types of game out there."

I agree with her.

The playstation network could be overloaded.

I downloaded over 40 gigs of games from it this week because of the playstation plus update. I assume a lot of plus subscribers did the same.
