Movies in theaters used to run at 24 fps. Does anyone think they have bad motion? I think they look good.
The problem with games is if the frame rate changes from 30 then drops to 24 it's noticeable. As the frame rate drops below 24 the illusion of motion disappears which makes things like targeting difficult. A constant 24 fps, or a constant 30 fps looks better than a game that runs at 30 then drops to 24 fps.

That's not exactly true.
When you trade in a game you get credit at the store and most of the time this credit is used to get another game.
Example:
- Joe buys $60 game
- Joe returns it for $30 credit
- Joe buys new game for $60 - $30 credit = $30
If Joe couldn't return his first game then it would cost $60 for a new game which he may not be able to afford. Being able to return the game means Joe can buy more n...
The problem is some people won't buy games new if they come with an online pass.
The only way online passes could help the industry is if the losses from people who won't buy the game new anymore is less then the profit from people who buy online passes.
Don't forget that when DRM was added to PC games the PC gaming industry started to shrink.

I had a debate with a guy about a ps3 game named Uncharted 2. He thought it was stupid because there was so many cut scenes.
The mentioned the "scenes" where a jeep is chasing the character in a narrow ally way, a guy was jumping from truck to truck and shooting people while the trucks exploded, and a helicopter fight.
I pointed out that those weren't cut-scenes. That is how the game looks. He didn't believe me.

Currently Uncharted 3 has sold less then both Uncharted, and Uncharted 2.
Saying that the lifetime sales for Uncharted 3 sales will be higher is speculation.
