This is not even close to the first time this has come up. Almost every major gaming podcast muses on this regularly when they talk about the games they're playing for review, and I've seen articles about this on at least IGN and 1up before. This topic tends to come up at the release of every major game.
Chill.
bias = noun
biased = adjective
The critics exhibit bias.
The critics ARE BIASED.
There exists bias.
There's some validity to your points, but also remember COD4 was almost a year and a half ago. WaW did have co-op. Times and expectations change quickly in this industry.
Bubbles taken from Sam and given to soxfan.
It's absurd to claim a game is way better than another when you haven't even played it. This reviewer has played the game extensively, which makes their opinion far more valid than yours. You can observe that their opinions are different from other critics, or that they don't agree to the previews posted by other journalists, but it's ridiculous to try to state it's a fact that this game is better than others and they are wrong.
The greatest FPS of all time was on PC of course. =P
But anyway, I think he was just talking about graphics with that quote. I think everyone can agree it pretty much tops any console graphics to this point.
"That is a matter of opinion really."
Of course it is. If you're looking for a review without opinion, you're going to have trouble finding one. Seeing as someone's opinion is precisely what a review is.
In other news, the best FPS of all time? It's a close call between Half-Life and Half-Life 2.
It amazes me how gamers can be so insecure. It's a good game. Enjoy it. Whether it gets a 9.0 or 9.4 or 10 isn't going to change how much fun you have with it.
if you watch him on bonus round, he actually says he is not a gamer. He's a financial analyst who watches this industry among others. Which is why he talks about things like price far more than game quality... THAT'S what he is an expert in.
Agreeing with your first paragraph Nathan, not the second.
As the article discusses, it's important to consider a lot more than how much revenue these two DLCs is going to make Microsoft. Even if they make $10 per sale, it's unlikely they'll take in 50 mil from this. But the exclusivity probably swayed a lot of people to buy the game for 360 over PS3. It probably even played a factor in some people's minds when they were deciding which console to buy for GTA4. Whether it wa...
What does 360 fanboyism have to do with it AT ALL? It's a multiplatform game. You failed to actually discuss the merits of the game and posted about a thousand words of weak "everyone who's not a 360 fanboy knows ______" arguments, which hold no value.
Do you even know that GTA:SA went multiplatform too (it was a timed exclusive)? You talk like only the Sony elite (and no one who owned a PS2 would possibly be stupid enough to buy a 360) experienced the holy grail o...
Bubbles from me too Montrealien. I don't know why it's so "cool" to knock GTA4 on this site. It's not a flawless game by any means, but it's a real accomplishment in story, setting, and arguably in gameplay, very substantial, and pretty darn fun.
I was wondering if the DLC would be worth the $20, but now I'm really looking forward to it. This is obviously no ploy to pry money out of the pocket of the consumer who just sees GTA and forks over cash. It's a legitimat...
I think it's more likely that these retailers are selling the cards at zero profit to attract gamers to their sites, where they'll be likely to buy games which have a pretty high profit margin for retailers.
Horde is not broken. It's really great actually, my favorite part of Gears 2.
But competitive multiplayer is very glitchy with lots of ways for people to abuse lag, clipping, hit detection, etc. The matchmaking is also not great even after the patch to speed it up.
Yep, achievements for winning don't say much when you can cheat to do it. Not that these are tough anyway.
I think you and a couple others don't understand their comment. "Hottest girl at the ball, but not the best dancer" translates to: The graphics are awesome, but the gameplay leaves something to be desired.
Not saying they're right, just saying it actually sounds quite a bit like a 3.5 score would.
The more you know!
Vega, he was making fun of the guy above you who pluralized all his words with Z's. Calm down. :p
I was afraid that this would be very lazy. Just the same game with a few new multiplayer maps and 6 new campaign levels. I'm glad to see they're reevaluating the weapons (maybe we can expect new ones?) and making actual changes to improve the game play, even if it's not a sequel's worth of changes.
Can't wait for a reason to dust off my Wii! I haven't touched it since SSBB got old, which happened quickly because it was basically Melee.
What's valid to complain about is that they wasted his time with the first copy. He's spent hours playing it once, and has to play through the whole thing again now with a sharp eye for differences, or else just publish a review based on the first build which may have issues the retail doesn't. And if you listen to game sites' podcasts, they often mention that playing a game for review is very different from playing it for fun. The situation does kind of suck for him.
Yep, almost everyone I know who tried WAR went right back to WoW for the new expansion. Another failure to replicate the magic that brought WoW so much success I guess.
