MGS4 #1. GoW3 #2.
I didn't see what makes uncharted 2 (or 1) so good. Yeah, sweet graphics but thats about it. Nothing interesting about the gameplay or characters or story - not compared to so many other games that get less mention.
So if it won't help people pirate ps3 games (apparently), it's only purpose is using Cell for intense number crunching without buying kit off IBM?
I had no idea that hardware hackers cared about things like that...
You can just buy a graphics card at less cost than a ps3 and run computations on that with more gflops under the hood.
Is he just trying to prove a point?
joke settings if the "scale" was equivalent to the 3 settings they give now:
uber low = maby someone with a beast rig has to do without their £600 gpu for a few days? stick in an old spare one and cant play crysis 2 because the settings are too limited?
low = so er, what if I want permenantly >60fps and don't care about graphics but I don't have a crazy gpu? (don't want to render all that extra detail geometry and un-turn-offable effects...
What LightofDarkness said, pretty much.
But DX11 also reduces cpu usage in the API (which can also help sli/xfire systems with weaker cpus) and memory usage in the vram and main memory, which helps speed things up. So it's not just about effects.
yeah double dash was the best.
inb4 crappy game again
prevent eyesight degrading due to age? how the hell is that done?
this ^
My 9800gt still holds up great. Higher frame rates than consoles and similar graphics - no problem.
Upgrading regularly may have been an issue between 1999 and 2006 but since the dx10 generation of cards (not the api, the hardware though) there has been no real need to upgrade unless you want the graphics to be amazing. People just got an 8800gt and burned the crap out of it for years till it gave up, or until it is yet to give up. Then buy a 6850 and ...
durrrr.
most multiplats have 360 controller support (and you can use 3rd party tools to get ps3 controller support)
so that's 60fps, maxed graphics and dedicated servers for the pc version. or, with a non-ott PC (ie, the gpu is not more expensive than a console), medium/low settings 40+ fps and dedicated servers (find one that isn't laggy and no more lag attacks)
Yep. A very capable gaming rig costs about £550 these days. (like, 99% of games maxed out at around 60fps if not way higher). i5 quad core overclocked to 4GHz on the stock cooler, 6GB of ddr3, 6850 graphics card.
Even a gaming laptop can be bought for £585 (i3 2.4GHz with a 5650 GPU, can play crysis 2 and bfbc2 on medium settings no problem)
I went to the gunnar optiks site after reading.
Wow, I'm surprised that they aren't overpriced. When my eyes go bad I'll look these up again.
It doesn't look tessellated :S
Why use dx11 and not use tessellation on surfaces? This is crysis ffs, it's meant to go above and beyond and push graphics to the limit.
I guess it could just be the horrible selection of scenes to show off a screenshot from. DX11 tessellation's biggest improvements will be noticed more at close range.
The texture res is really impressive though, for the most part.
edit:
OK, ...
And some people say source is outdated?
footsteps are too loud :P
yeah it should be on the list
Hmm just thought of something.
Would buying the ps3 version of portal to get the pc version and then trade in the ps3 version to get the PC version cheaper work? Or will retailers not accept trade-ins of portal 2 ps3? odd...
"The original Modern Warfare is also available for around $50."
WHAT!
But anyway. Lair, Gta 4 (everybody has that though surely :P), Uncharted 2. Ratchet and Clank was a good mention. Brutal legend is worth picking up. MGS 4 should certainly be listed.
I dunno, all those games ^ should be cheap around places.
lol at cod 4 for $50, wtf overpriced much? I know it's the best one by miles but... since when did that...
If they're hiring now then I highly doubt anything will be announced this year. If they do, the console will be total junk and totally flop in the next generation; graphics hardware is advancing far too quickly to release another console.
They can't yet render the likes of Samaritan in a viable consumer product, in a few years the hardware will be able to.
720 out this year or next would be a complete disaster - it'd just be an un-upgradable PC li...
what kramun said.
A sensibly bought gaming rig is only like $750
No need for an i7, i5 is the way forwards to save some cash. The graphics card is the only thing worth splashing out on.
But anyway, people always forget. The price difference between a standard home PC and a beastly gaming PC is less than the price of a new console (especially near the start of a console gen). So that makes PC gaming cheaper. Even the difference between a standard and gaming laptop isn't too...
Depends what deals they get with AMD. There might be pressure from Nintendo and Apple (I hope not) next gen.
