I would only want it free if they maintained the quality of service.
I mean it ain't like 5$ a month is breaking the bank, especially for what we get.
I don't see sony offering HD movies through their service...why? cause if I can use a ps3 to download HD movies, why do I need blu-ray again?
I see the doing music, possibly TV, but last thing they want to do is give people a reason not to buy blu-ray, they are betting the company on that format.
it's not doing "just fine". that's why all these articles come out, people trying to explain why it's not doing just fine.
I agree with some things in the article, however I believe Sony's large install base from the ps2 will help them out.
Had there not been a ps2, and this was their first attempt at a console, then yes they would likely be dead.
I know some of those are already out as those are aussie release dates, but holy freaking wow!
I don't see a reason to start the ps3 insults.
DJ brings up a great point. If vista users will get it free, as a live subscriber I will be wondering what the heck I am paying for?
and the nice part will be I don't see how MS could charge for it on PC because if they did, pc gamers will be way less likely to pay for it.
total ps3's sold: ZERO
HAHAHAHA!!!
seriously dude...
they could've easily had rumble and motion sensing, but didn't want to bother paying immersion a few million because of their stupid pride.
rumble is a necessity, and the sooner they accept this, they better off they will be.
it may be a 4th game it the halo universe(aka halo wars) but the master chief saga is coming to an end
I cried a little:(
lost planet, dead rising, blue dragon (for japanese anyway), GRAW, Oblivion.
2 of them are shooters, and yes I'm fully aware that oblivion and GRAW are coming to the ps3...eventually. they did however sell extremely well while they were exclusive to the 360.
anyone can debate if these are AAA titles or not, guess it depends on your preference, they are all HUGE sellers none the less.
there is no 1 big reason as to why they are sitting on the shelves, it's not like it sucks or is of poor quality, it just a make up of all the things the article lists, plus probably a few more.
price, lack of games, bad press, strong competition, etc.
the best time to judge how it is doing will be throughout 07, and the 07 xmas season. as pretty much every other argument about this "war" has said.
and I wish MS had done more for original xbox owners, but sony would have a lot more to lose than MS if it did not support the ps2 after the ps3 came out, so they pretty much had to.
the ps2 stayed around so long because of a number of factors(the explosion of dvd popularity, HUGE developer support, online play not a big priority, and little to no early competition). Things are different this time around, and if they thing this round will still be going in 2016 they are wrong. ...
spaceship, no. grill? yes.
shows they are listening, watching and learning.
good job MS.
This console generation will be done by 2010 or 2011. ps3 and 360 will look like something from the dark ages compared to PC technology by then.
that thing is a beast...
great work:)
tv shows, music very likely, but if they make HD moovies available for download, that gives a reason not to buy blu-ray, which is the reason why the ps3 is here:)
peter moore said that like a year ago
anyone who thought this will be exclusive needs a kick in the teeth.
on a sad note, it's being developed/downscaled for the ps2 as well...it is now on my "not worth buying" list.
