As consoles reach the end of their cycle, I always upgrade my PC. Just put a 670 in my pc. I'll get a PS4 when it comes out.
@EeJLP
Don't forget some top 10 list articles. They're just as pointless and frequent.
I'd welcome a KZ4 if it means the series will be back on track catering to the hardcore rather than trying to be a 'me too' COD clone.
Meaning the importance is back on skilled gunplay (More recoil and bullet tracking variables), health packs, better team play and skill (like working with another to take down sentries rather than people bitching when they can't stupidly go lone wolf). More dynamic and open single player with less emphasis on scripting and play...
I'm not going to click through that. The fact that it's one of those 'list' type of articles that are always popping up on N4G is bad enough. Such a horrible website design.
Killzone 2 to and to a lesser extent part 3 is proof that you don't need to have a fancy gimmick or a ridiculous amount of scripting to keep shooters interesting.
It's the attention given to the finer details. Everything is just so incredibly polished and comes together so well be they visuals, physics, animations, Artificial Intelligence and gunplay. It's the way all these elements come together that create the awesome experience that is Killzone. Honestly, shoot...
The only capcom games I own are SSF4, SSF4AE and MVC3. I was really disappointed with MVC3, and reluctantly paid for AE.
Outside of SSF4 they haven't made anything I'd consider decent for consoles this gen. I think we should all move along... Grasshopper Manufacture and Suda make the over-the-top Japanese games of yesteryear.
All Capcom have given us this gen is a load of mediocrity. Their greedy practices just make it worse.
Well, see. That's part of the problem too.
I'm not slagging you personally or anything, but stuff like that just makes it worse for the industry. Because of stuff like that, games will be dumbed down for the masses and publishers will take less risk on more innovative games.
Wouldn't be surprised if NextBox and PS4 were more steam like.
Well, you can blame retailers like EB and Gamestop for this. As pointed out in the article, it's the way they force used games upon people that's only $5 to $10 less than if you bought it new. I'm pretty sure that if it was just people like me and you trading, lending or selling to each other for $20 or so bucks to each other, then publisher's wouldn't care. I can't remember which game it was, but I decided to go to my local EB on day instead of ordering it off the net...
This is actually how implementing DLC is ok. They're only MP maps, so it doesn't really take away from the experience. They're just offered as a pre-order incentive...though they'll probably be included on the disc for compatibility purposes and force you to pay for them down the line...and that's the bitter pill we shouldn't swallow.
Who knows, they'll probably have a gold edition...either way. I just don't care for this game. This series just...
I was originally going to buy the ultra super X(cross) dressing edition. But I will refuse to buy Capcom's games. There's simply too many good games out there to put up with this crap.
They don't really make anything good anymore and only rely on brand equity.
Knowing that its $20 US will probably mean they want $36AUD even though the AUD is greater than the US dollar. Screw that.
KZ2 is still plenty tactical with all the classes. Just take some adjusting to and knowing which classes to use in each scenario.
KZ3 not so much. Snipers can jam your radar as well as turn invisible, and sniping is much easier because the game has less bullet variables and they don't need to lead their shots.
Recoil in general is lower and you can go full auto with some weapons and kill people accross the map.
If you liked the tactical n...
Why? KZ2 is a far superior game. It takes far more skill, has more tactical depth, is far more rewarding and requires more teamwork.
For heaven's sake the final boss fight was on rails. They took every opportunity to make KZ3 generic as hell.
I cannot wait for it. Not just for nostalgic reasons and the good memories, but the series came out at a time when you'd get these ridiculous and over the top IPs that just aimed to be fun.
Like we need more military shooters, right?
So yeah. I'll love Twisted Metal with you, mate! It's already pre-ordered and with the release so close I can do nothing but think about the fun to be had.
Totally agree. 3D and move royally messed up KZ3. They could have made the game more responsive without dumbing down the 20+ variables for calculating ballistics making each weapon feel more unique like in KZ2. They could have kept MP at 32 players and they wouldn't have had to ditch the squad system in KZ2. Environmental textures could have been greatly improved but the environment textures and particle effects are lacking in KZ3. Physics also feel downgraded. The whole game lacks polish...
Fine by me. I, like many others don't have a 3D tv and it just downgrades visual fidelity and game logic. I'd rather have better graphics and gameplay than tacked on gimmick like 3D.
I just hope that under any circumstances that they don't hand the franchise to guerrilla. They're capable of good games but they are not the right devs to make Resistance. They're fickle and give fans too much input instead of just making something awesome. At least Insomniac learnt from this mistake.
Until they are capable of making games in their own vision and avoid listening to 'fans' who apparently loved the franchise so much they sold their copies of...
@Blaine
That's precisely what is wrong with games today (particularly in the FPS genre) and why games like Resistance 2, MAG and KZ3 are ruined and dumbed down.
You get all these people on the development forums claiming to be fans when they really are just cry babies who can't adapt to how the game plays (most likely from Cod). It's why games get dumbed down and homogenised making the genre stale as hell.
That's how we get ru...
He sure is awesome. He handled it with class.
Gameplay and story wise the series ended with a bang. They cut out the fat from R2 and gave us a more focused game.
It sucks that they're multiplatform now, but they've always been an independent studio, and that's what they want to be. I think that's reason enough to keep an eye on whatever projects they're working on.
I wish them all the best.
I hope they don't. They have a pretty sketchy track record and they don't look like they have the imagination/ creativeness nor the independent fortitude to pull it off.
I was left pretty unimpressed with KZ3 and how dumbed down the whole experience was from KZ2. All I can say about it is that it looked pretty.
I'd rather a more established studio like santa monica handle it.
I really love MK9 but as I've said on an MK forum, some MK fans just don't know whats important. They figure unless it has all the MK characters, fatalities and gore, that it's acceptable for the gameplay to suck. They let the tail wag the dog!
Sorry, but MK9 wasn't the success it was because it was bloody, it was successful because they wanted a tournament worthy fighter that just so happened to have blood and gore in it and they delivered.
