PS1 was about $600-$700 in Australia. PS3 was $1000 for the 60GB.
I'm hoping for $800. It all depends on what it comes with. If it comes with the headset and the camera as rumoured then I'd be comfortable paying more. So around $800AUD would be nice.
Wouldn't surprise me if EA or a few other third party studios ask for a premium next gen.
In Australia RRP for games went from $100 for PS2 games to $110 for first party and $120 for third party titles when PS3 and 360 first came out.
Prices have gone down though due to userbase of PS3 and 360 as well as a strong Aussie dollar.
What worries me are micro transactions which, like DLC, can be exploited.
Completely agree. Too many shooters still relying on simple scripting to the point where people only care about the MP in shooters. Some games have excellent AI and offer compelling SP experiences. And once you've played those games as I have, those simple games just don't cut it.
I really hope there's more emphasis on AI and game logic. As you've said it's taken a back seat and it's regressed.
@Deputydon:
Killzone 2 and killzone 3 are set on a brutal planet for which the helghast were given the shaft. Helghan is supposed to look bleak and harsh. Helghan is a militaristic regime with a soldiers first mentality. Kind of like North Korea.
Shadow Fall is set on Vekta which is pretty similar to earth. Hence the differences.
It's going to be awesome. I'm amazed at the amount of people who don't get it. Maybe they didn't play previous LBP games?
From the looks of it, LBP or whatever it is that is "play, create, share" for PS4 is going to be an awesome title with endless possibilities. It makes sense that this title will allow people to collaborate with each other to create rich content not possible before.
Yeah. It really is the PC and PS4 combo for me as well. I just don't find Xbox's exclusive offerrings to be compelling.
It's funny, the criticisms of the PS4. These people jumping on the band wagon were never considering buying one anyway.
Sony showed what was important, the specs, games and that they were listening to feedback and criticism from developers and consumers. More will follow at other game expos like E3.
You'll still get similar interactivity with Move and their new camera. It's just a different implementation. Kinect 2 will likely be more responsive than the first kinect, but I doubt it will compare to speed and precision of move. It's still overall a more practical solution THAT WORKS and is better for core games. But we'll see. I understand the pros and cons of each.
The rest of your comment is really just your own personal preference/ fanboyism. I didn'...
I love my PC. I've built a few PC's over the last decade and have upgraded the GPU in them a few more times.
As soon as I boot up after putting that big shiny new card in I feel a little disappointed when I come accross a game that doesn't run smoothly on Max settings after parting with $300-$500 (For the GPU alone). I currently have a GTX670 in my rig. I love it, but in my experience of PC building, I have a lot of doubts in regards to the value proposition on sp...
Butt hurt much? You can do with some growing up yourself.
720 specs are unlikely to change. Kinect and other gimmicks seem to be where MS hope to garner attention from the mainstream. I hope I'm wrong, but that seems to be the direction they're going.
Changing RAM will likeley mean changing the motherboard and the APU due to the memory controller. Like the PS4 APU and GPU, the 720 is using custom chips. With contracts likely sealed with suppliers I do...
I thought the same. Thought it was just going to be run of the mill. What was released is a bloody shambles.
Apart from JB Hi-Fi in Australia, I've been buying games online. Online is cheaper and I don't have to wait in line waiting for ignorant consumers to get their stuff sorted.
WTH do they mean not the future? It's happening now!
I still need to finish part 2 and get all trophies for both games.
It's an excellent series and I can't wait to see what they would do with part 3.
Firstly, I doubt this will happen. Not exactly like this anyway.
That said. Blame the major game retail chains that rip people off by charging ridiculous amounts of money for used games.
"Would you like a second hand copy of this game instead? It's ONLY $5 less." Happened to me plenty of times at EB. Now I just import or buy from JB HI-FI
By the way, there's these things on PCs called Steam, Origin and U Play that accomplish...
I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think this game will be that good. From what I've read, it neither does anything new or better than other fps games that have come before it other than being licensed.
I'm worried this will be yet another dumb corridor game where things just mindlessly run at you to die for 4-6 hours with some scripted events interspersed amid the action so that players can feel accomplished and be blinded by what really is bad/ generic gameplay. ...
Picked this up for PS3 and I've been playing it a lot on the Vita.
Not too sure about game modes and stuff yet, but I would like more villains to be added like Zarok. Other first party characters like Captain Quark and gabe logan (How's he not in this?) would be nice, too. No sense in upping third party characters unless it's final fantasy, MGS or some other third party game that has a strong presence on playstation....Lara Croft??
Wouldn't it be on the back of the case?
Wow. Makes you wonder what games this reviewer actually enjoys playing.
Just seems like the dude is wasting his time doing something he doesn't like.
I agree. Kz3 was bitch made. Completely dumbed down and without an identity of its own. Gunplay is so limp in kz3 and the game lacks those random moments that can happen by accident that makes kz2 such a thrill to play through. They needs to dump the cod and Michael bay influences and make it gritty and grounded again and bring back the depth of gameplay that's missing in kz3. Fro. A gameplay stand point at least kz2 is a much more superior game. All the on rails and scripted bits felt fo...
Yuck. Images of tacky looking gold spray painted plastic come to mind.
