You are absolutely right. The consumer should have the right to decide. Both of these companies have been doing shady business deals behind the scenes.
I really do think that with Michael Bays comment that the cheap HDDVD players from WalMart are on the way though($200). Perhaps he knows something we don't.
HDDVD is definately in a way better position on pricepoint than Bluray. If these cheaper players are on the way things are going to get ugly.
But I had to try posting it.
It is cheaper to produce for the Motion pictures industry. HDDVDs can be stamped out on regular DVD lines with minimal upgrades. Not to mention all of the added features and internet options are standard on every HDDVD player.
With the decrease on HDDVD players in price to a starting pricepoint of only $299 it makes no sense to pick Bluray. Why pay more for the same thing??

XBOX live is offering an overwhelming amount of content every week....demos, betas, games, and movies....not to mention XBLA is the first of it's kind. Live is one of the major selling points of the 360...
old code. This was originally a PS3 title also. I think Microsoft saw the quality of the game and inked a deal with 2K games for exclusivity.
I think the only way this would come to PS3 is if 2K didn't see a big return on this game. And with the 360 games attach rate and large install base I don't see that happening.

All positive Sony news is always based on speculation or rumor. Not actually facts.
If people would actually look at the facts the 360 has the highest install base and is selling better bc of the recent price cut. All the new PS3 supposed AAA titles are receiving poor reviews. And the PS3 has been selling poorly ever since launch. So an "exponential" increase isn't all that much either.
Not to mention the 360 has the top 3 games saleswise. Bioshock...

People that buy standalone players and-or the 360 add-on are definately going to buy movies. Otherwise why purchase the hardware.
