I thought the DLC might be a kind of flashback based on the contents of a certain disc given to Marcus that could maybe tie up some loose ends and unanswered questions regarding his father's early days.

I don't know of a Battlefield game that hasn't had server issues at launch, so it's no surprise they're having issues now and that they'll have them again on the 29th and during the entire course of the beta and again on October 25th when the game comes out.

Agreed. I definitely send out congrats to Epic as they are one of my favorite developers. Microsoft, not so much, mainly because I figure they're behind the absolutely ridiculous milking of the game's weapons skin DLC. If that was Epic's idea.. FINGER OF SHAME to them, as well.
True. You can't base the greatness of a game until you've actually played it - Duke Nukem Forever is a perfect example of that. At this point, based on what else has been released this year, Gears Of War 3 is definitely #1 for GOTY at the moment. When Uncharted 3, Skyrim, Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare 3 are all released and played, they may blow Gears 3 out of the water. Then again, they might totally suck. We'll see.

Yea, that's the trick. Unfortunately, not everybody gets that and wants to sit around and trash talk their teammates as though it's their fault the trash talker sucks. I had a guy jump my case the other day, because he claims I stole a kill from him. What happened was, he and the enemy downed themselves. I came along, finished off the enemy and saved him. I bought the game for the MP, which is awesome. The campaign is just a bonus for me and I just completed the 4th act. I'll go back and look for missed collectibles, but I'll otherwise spend the next few years in MP.
I'm figuring the next Gears will be a prequel. Maybe that's how we'll discover the origins of the Queen?

I kinda see it both ways. I mean, DICE did LIE - I don't know about other people, but I don't like being lied to. It upsets me to be lied to. So in that sense, I understand the fans disappointment and they should have a right to express themselves. DICE dropped the ball saying this and that and then expecting everyone to "take it with a smile" when they didn't follow through.
BUT, on the other hand, the beta is FREE and it's not really something ...

I've gone from 34 to 50 and unlocked a bunch of Horde related achievements. No time to make it to a 100, but I'm satisfied with what I've gotten out of the game. Bring on Gears 3!

In a perfect world, people would give props to a GOOD GAME, regardless of who made the game and what console it supports, but this is N4G, so that stuff doesn't matter.
I'll be getting the game next Tuesday, so I'm good to go on getting the gold weapons, BUT I'm thinking I read somewhere that if you had the gold weapons in Gears 2 (which I have), that they would carry over to Gears 3.
