Weren't the reviews for DS overwhelmingly positive though? I mean, with a new IP, you never know, but DS was so praised across the board--I think that's the reason I got it in the first place. Oh, also because I wanted to brave the challenge!
As for Dark Souls... What Chug said!
Gonna be one of the best games this gen. :D
Sweet. I wish I'd had one of these while I was playing MAG... Will have to get one for the next shooter I get really into, because it's a shame not to share my skills with the rest of the world! :P
Now there's a game I would love to play on NGP! Would be awesome if the progress you made on NGP was also tracked on your PS3 game.
How is that crazy? From Software was extremely pleased with Demon's Souls's sales because it exceeded their expectations many times over, just like the Amnesia devs you mention.
NT, on the other hand, are under the illusion that their games are capable of selling CoD numbers. This was a needed reality-check!
Heavenly Sword was helped by both the facts that it was exclusive, and that it was one of the PS3's first "big titles". So for that, we forgave most of its shortcomings.
Enslaved was hurt by many things: it went multiplat, went with UE3 and didn't look especially great, and was just overall not a great game.
I really don't see why there are so many articles bemoaning the lack of success this game had. Hey, Journalists: it WASN'T that...
I'm pretty sure I read that MS wouldn't be allowing MMOs on 360 anymore. I think it was in relation to FFXIV--as in Squeenix kept begging MS to allow them to release on 360, but they kept refusing.
lol If it takes you 2 secs to move your thumb off the stick to hit the button to go prone, you're definitely not a pro gamer!
Yes, a split second makes all the difference if you're a pro, I won't argue with you there. BUT, there's NO reason why one player should have any kind of ADVANTAGE over another. Everyone same controller, end of story.
There's no reason for anything to carry over.
Different world, different characters, different story, slightly different gear. The game looks a helluva lot like Demon's Souls, but it's not.
Also, carrying my 198 Soul Level character over into a new game would make it WAY too easy LOL! And it would defeat the point of this game being hard.
It's not a sequel.
It's a "spiritual successor".
Essentially, it means they're the same game, only different. Yes, Dark Souls looks *exactly* like Demon's Souls, and it will play almost exactly like it. But the story and characters and world aren't the same, hence why it's not Demon's Souls, it's a spiritual successor. It's the same, but different.
You're talking as if ALL there was on PSP were console ports, which isn't the case. The bigger titles were, for the most part, console experiences, but there were also a ton of commute-friendly titles.
I myself travel a lot, so I plan on using my NGP for hour-long stretches. I don't want commuter-friendly games. I want full-fledged console-experience games. And I have no doubt that both our interests will be served, like they WERE on the PSP.
Let&...
I don't know how much you use stasis, but it'd probably help you out a lot!
I never used it because I didn't really need it ("I'm 1337, I don't need no stasis"!:P) but also because it wasn't dependable. The few times that I tried using it because it could actually have saved me in a pinch, it would miss. The enemy'd be right in my crosshairs, and the stasis would go right through him, then I'd get OHK because I never upgraded my healt...
I play PS3 on a 24" computer monitor. It does 1080p without breaking a sweat, and I only play from a few feet away, so it's plenty big enough! Oh, and I forgot to mention: it cost me 200$.
Wouldn't be a bad PSN title for the Move, I guess.
The article clearly says "won't be tied to Nintendo's platforms". Could it be any clearer?
lol Conduit doesn't stand a chance on other consoles! They're crazy if they think they can compete with Killzone 3, Crysis 2, Brink, Rage, Resistance 3, and whatever other FPS you're interested in on PS3/PC/360.
What the fuck do people like him want? Portables should have just remained at the GameBoy level of technology? FFS, the thing's just been announced. Uncharted on NGP was a fast and easy way to get people EXCITED for the device, not the END ALL BE ALL of games on it.
I'm 10000% sure we're going to get innovative experiences on the NGP that we wouldn't get on any other consoles because of all the inputs it offers. Obviously, though, it'll take more than A DA...
@George:
Sony sold 2.1 million PS2s in the months of October to December, 2010.
You think they'd still be selling that many if the PS3 was capable of playing PS2 games? I don't think so.
Also, WHERE is it written that the successor to a console should automatically and OBLIGATORILY be compatible to play its predecessor's games? You paid for a **PS3** not a PS2, why should you get both in one? Especially for only 300$.
Firefox is slow as hell.
Give me Chrome. :)
@Biggest
Your comment is absolutely true... and it wouldn't sting so much if their next project wasn't to ruin DEVIL MAY CRY.
There's no keys on my keyboard to represent the anger this makes me feel, and I don't want to swear up a storm, so I'll keep my composure: fuck you Capcom.
Wait, wait, wait... This reminds me: Demon's Souls doesn't *really* get hard until you start a NG+!! lol the game actually takes it easy on you the first time around! So will Dark Souls be harder than NG, or NG+? O_o
(To be fair though, once you get to NG+ you're familiar with the game, so although it really is harder, you're prepared for it this time.)
