Agreed.
But to the discerning, informed gamer, this isn't a bad thing. I avoid flamebait articles (which, like you say, generate revenue for the sites) and get right to the good stuff: the news and trailers. Without the fanboys going rabid on the troll articles, we probably wouldn't have as much of the good stuff either.
(Once in a while I do like to read the rabid comments though! Like this article. And I have to say, the N4G community is actually a ...
Isn't the real world just a game with the best graphics?
(Albeit with dire consequences...)
Need more dinosaurs.
I have my reservations on these types of displays. I'm just not convinced they're not damaging to your eyes... Hell, just playing my PSP too much was starting to seriously hurt my ability to see far. I can't imagine having screens right in front of your eyes for any duration of time.
I was one of the people who were most against PSN+ when the service was launched. I didn't think it was worth it at the time. But a lot has changed since then, and the service is very much worth it now.
Rebates on a large percentage of the games available on the PSN Store, free games, full game trials, automatic update downloads for your games, cloud game-saves, etc. The service is easily worth its price tag now, 10$ RE4 port or not.
@OpenGL
Insomniac clearly sacrificed resolution for better character models and more detailed environments.
Honestly there's a few places in the game where it just looks like the textures haven't loaded in yet, but that's actually the final texture. But as soon as you get into the intricately detailed environments and the action starts, with so many great looking Chimera shooting at you, you instantly forget the lower res and the game really looks...
I've watched TV a lot if I've watched it only one hour in a day. And in those one hours, I've seen both the KB commercial and dedicated R3 commercials. So if I've seen them in my limited viewing time (in Canada, no less) then they're being aired for sure.
@Silent: Agreed.
Just like the last article: give me a source for those numbers or STFU. I've started voting down articles that pull rants out of their ass based on numbers with no source. And I vote down the site that ran the article just to get hits. Trying to do my part to improve the quality of journalism on sites posted to N4G.
Edit: a CREDIBLE source.
Well then you'll be pleased with the sequel, I hope!
I never picked up Borderlands because there was always another game I wanted more at the time. It's the kind of game I'd happily pick up during a drought, but this time I got RDR, and I feel like it'll be too dated by next summer. But with the amount of positive feedback it's gotten, I'm considering getting the sequel day 1.
That's a little bit harsh.
Try to imagine the resources it's taken just to get the thing this far already? Not only are they launching a game console in the current environment, dominated by the big three, but it's an entirely new way to play.
Exclusives take either first party studios or deals with existing ones, both of which cost a lot of money. I don't criticize them for not having those yet.
The Store usually updates in the late afternoon where I am. I'd say it'll be up in 9 hours tops...
Edit: my bad, this article's for Europe. I'm in SCEA--not the same thing at all!
Princess Mononoke and Howl's Moving Castle!
I can't decide which I like best, because they're each so distinct.
Hey look, I can put numbers in parenthesis too:
(3141354135 vs 25135112)
Source or GTFO.
Article rated: WTF. Gaming journalism is in a very poor state, some of it because of sites like N4G making it so easy for poorly-researched, biased articles to get a lot of hits. We have to do our part by voting the bad ones down. An article that pulls rants out of its ass based on numers with no source, should get voted down.
Man... P3P was on sale on PSN last week. I've never played a Persona game, so I snapped it up for a rainy day.
But I started playing--I couldn't resist. Big mistake! Now I'm hooked, I can't stop, rainy day be damned.
Persona 4 is going to be great.
Never say never...
Personally, I'd like to see GTAV close this gen, if it does it with a bang. Not on the same engine though--I cannot stand the gameplay.
I can see CoD going the way of Guitar Hero. That game started a genre and was huge in the mainstream, yet Activision managed to milk it to death. CoD's unstoppable now, but GH was also in that position not very long ago.
Agreed: I didn't like GTAIV, but you bet I'm still interested in GTAV!
They will have to work to earn my money though. Namely: IMPROVE the GAMEPLAY. It was improved for RDR, but still not great (my opinion/ preferences).
But the other 20-30+ mil people who will be interested in GTAV won't be as discerning as me: they'll eat it up! GTA is still very much mainstream. It just releases less often, so the name dies down a bit between releases but c...
Uh no... There is plenty of variety available, no matter what your tastes are.
Also, your comment makes no sense. You're "not into multiplat games" and "don't care about so-called exclusive games". Buddy, they're either one or the other. If you don't like either, then you don't like any.
@Zee:
Seriously, I hated the way MGS4 handled installs. ffs, I have the HDD space, just save every chapter on there. Instead of re-writing the data when you reach a new chapter, which REALLY fucks you over when you just want to revisit parts of the game and have to install every time.
Most PS3 SKUs have plenty of HDD space, and it couldn't be easier to upgrade your HDD if you don't have enough. More devs should get/ give us the option to install data....
