@Death I'm not American, I don't think the rest of the world shares America's history with unions. In the UK i've never been part of any union busting activity nor heard of anyone who faced them apart from historically under Margret Thatcher.

In general the UK public views union busting as a negative that killed the manufacturing industry in the UK and shipped all those jobs abroad.

I don't think Microsoft will care much about threats of unionization, they're a company that tries to keep employees by offering some of the highest salaries and benefits around in order to not bleed talent to the other big tech companies so they already have an incentive to treat employees well.

Well that's a load of crap, they tune their entire game around the difficulty. Not the story, it's all about providing fun and challenging gameplay that is also fair and they do it better than any other series IMO. I completed God of War on GMGOW difficulty and it was an awful experience, the game wasn't hard in a fun and challenging way it just forced you to play in a way that was far less fun.

Elden Ring and other Souls games are tuned to be hard and fun, and ...

I definitely wouldn't have enjoyed my first souls game as much if it had an easy mode as I would have just lowered the difficulty instead of pushing myself to overcome the challenge which gives a huge rush whenever you do beat a boss you were stuck on for a while.

But now after beating all of them but Demon Souls I would be fine with them as I would know that the challenges can be overcome even if it feels so hopeless when you are just starting out. I think they did it ...

Depends on how you play it, if you play DS3 and Elden Ring without any summons or ashes then Elden Ring is the harder base game. The ringed city bosses however do compete with some of the harder fights in Elden Ring.

Elden Ring just gives you a lot of tools and options to make the game easier if you'd like, practically an easy mode but if you ignore them it's definitely a hard game.

@Dab They did patch fire giant if you are talking about the gravity cheese.

I wouldn't blame digital for this, this is a DRM issue and DRM can be on physical or digital copies. A DRM free copy of a digital or physical game should never have this issue.

I find the story of the world really interesting in these games, the story of the character not so much. But the worldbuilding part is what G.R.R was doing, not the story for the game and I thought the world building was really good in Elden Ring.

I was bringing up the broader picture to illustrate that this is just the market now, it wasn't done by Microsoft alone, the whole industry seems to have decided that multiplayer games need to generate revenue after the initial purchase.

I'll give you the souls games, they are some of the few games that completely avoid any flavour of GAAS.

But Forza Horizon 5 and Grand Turismo 7 definitely qualify under the Wikipedia definition of GAAS. The defin...

Can you name a handful of successful multiplayer games that aren't service based that released in the past few years? It's not really a Microsoft thing, all popular multiplayer games are service based.

I feel like the old methods just wont work again, people expect free content drops in their multiplayer games these days, making it paid DLC again will just push people to other games. But yer I too am interested in what N4G proposes as the consumer friendly alternative to save us from free content drops and paid cosmetic items.

Now that's a stretch, Pretty much all multiplayer games run as a service and continually release content, and I don't feel like I've been scammed by Hunt Showdown, Rainbow Six Siege or Overwatch. They're fun games and ended up better and with much more content than they had at release.

Previously we had to buy map packs or buy a new title but these games are dropping content updates for free for many years after release and have dedicated player bases benef...

@Exterminator Both the left and the right attack the BBC for being biased. The left say it is just a government mouth piece and avoids discrediting or fact checking the government a lot of the time because the government controls it's purse strings and the right believe it's too woke.

I'd love to see some examples you have of clear bias from the BBC and also your source for the viewership numbers of GB news not being trash. Try filtering these stats by news and ...

@VenomUK It's not like that all over the world though, the UK public pretty much demands balanced reporting as we don't watch sensationalized TV news, the failure of GB News shows that trying to follow the Fox model in the UK just doesn't really work. I think it's difficult to compare US and UK reporting because of those differences in style. We also have Ofcom forcing news broadcasting to be accurate and impartial, so you can't just show one side or risk falling fowl of r...

@Eonjay He never said it wont happen on PS. AMD is the one saying it currently only supports DX12 and they are working on a Vulkan port. I'm sure they or Sony or individual developers will work on a GMN port to support Playstation.

I'm going to assume this is sarcasm. It definitely reads like sarcasm.

Even if you fund a new studio you need experienced devs so you're probably going to poach talent from somewhere. Zero to hero is super rare in AAA game development.

I'm almost certain this is going to be my game of the year as I feel like I haven't been so invested in a game since Divinity Original Sin 2 and Dark Souls 3 came out. Finally beat it over the weekend and immediately started a new character to explore some of the other stuff in the game and I have plans to do the same again after this run. The game just has a staggering amount of content to offer.

Why would Rockstar care, this just means they can get an increased amount of revenue by banning hackers and getting them to keep buying a copy of the game every month or so.

1444d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

@Michiel1989 The 19 months comes from the difference between September 20, 2018 (Turing release) and May 14, 2020 (Ampere release). Those are the last 2 releases. If you meant the last 2 apart from the current one then that one did have a much longer gap than average as mentioned.

Supply for Ampere hasn't actually been short, they have shipped more than they did of Turing in the same time period, demand has just been stupid as you kind of get to an infinite demand situa...
