Greene definitely made the genre popular. I don't think anyone can really deny that. DayZ Battlegrounds, Arma 3 Battle Royale, H1Z1, PUBG were all made with him on board. Fortnite copying the formula was obviously a business decision based off the popularity of Greene's works.
Arma and DayZ were both also an important part of this genre's story seeing as the first Greene battle royale was a mod of DayZ (which was a mod of Arma 2) and shared a lot of what made Da...
Big business (the internet based ones at least) do not want an end to net neutrality, they've been openly protesting the removal of these protections. The ISPs want it so they can hold big business and consumers to ransom.
That's fair enough, I think we all have some super popular games we just couldn't get into. For me that was both Zelda (although I did beat OoT for the first time) and Horizon zero dawn this year, although maybe I just need to give them a shot when I have enough time to invest in them.
I've also super enjoyed some pretty poorly received games.
Divinity Original Sin 2 also has a metascore to challenge Persona 5 for some runner up prizes. Although it's a PC game and unfortunately PC never seems to win GOTY awards regardless of how well received the games are.
Same score as Persona and it's not even nominated for the golden joystick awards.
You make it sound like the PS4 is doing 1080/60fps which is not the case.
It's not a huge secret that the EU and UK especially tend to rule in the consumers favour on pretty much everything. Digital refunds wasn't that long ago.
Yer, it does seem like an odd title. Runs best on PC, declares it best on console. Hopefully they fix the issues that some people are having.
How does ND or Sony bringing litigation against someone who says they felt harassed go any way but poorly. You can't prove he didn't feel harassed and it wouldn't send the right message to the public if you take the approach of, "can't prove it in court, then we will hit you with litigation". It doesn't even matter if he is telling the truth or not, that would send a message that silence is the best option which is not what the public wants to hear.
He doesn't have to do anything. Maybe he just wanted to voice his story and that was it. He might feel better just having that off his chest. He didn't mention any individuals which means that Sony or Naughty Dog would have to bring litigation which doesn't look good from a PR standpoint. They will probably try and distance themselves from anything public and will instead try and settle privately if they want him to stop talking.
I wonder how this would work. Freesync and gsync does not work alongside vsync and it allows unlimited frame rates without tearing. A higher / unlocked frame rate would be an advantage in multiplayer games which seems to be a no no on console. I guess it will be capped in multiplayer and uncapped in single player or capped everywhere but that would make it useless (unless you drop below the target framerate).
It also increases latency, which is a disadvantage so maybe it b...
Which is probably a good thing for both games. I imagine they will support each other by maintaining a healthy player base and demand for the genre. PUBG sales are seeing a massive spike atm which I can only guess is related to new interest in the genre.
Nah these games work really well for streamers. Streamers will have advertised it like they did PUBG. Both games seem to be seeing an increase in popularity atm. PUBG has sold 2 million copies in the past 3 days which is a big spike in it's sales (now at 15M) http://steamspy.com/app/578...
I imagine we will see > 2M concurrent players this weekend on Steam.
I played the first when this came out and have now moved on to the second game. It's also really good and I found it a bit easier to get into than the new one as the new one has more mechanics in the combat system which can make it a bit demanding when you first start. The games are a good challenge on the default difficulty so go in expecting to die and just try and learn from your mistakes or try go somewhere else if it gets too hard.
Well a lot of us are PC Gamers and have access to both. That seems less silly than the console only gamers arguing about which one is better when they can't even play both.
@Goldby You do know that comma is the decimal separator in more countries than a dot is the decimal separator? I can't tell if you are joking or just don't know.
PUBG is currently the most successful exclusive game of this generation. 13 Million sales in 6 months on 1 platform this gen is unprecedented. It's no surprise that games are trying to clone the formula and no surprise that the clones will be compared to PUBG just like PUBG is compared to H1Z1 (another player unknown licensed product) and the mods that he originally made (my favourite battle royale experience).
Before this game was announced for Xbox these comparisons s...
You know that 13M in half a year is unprecedented for a game only on one platform this gen right? It's literally the best selling game that is currently exclusive to one platform. It even beat Minecraft to 10 million sales by 1 and a half years.
A F2P game hitting 7 million downloads is not exactly an unprecedented event. Dota 2 has what, 115 million?
@liqu1d maybe not but that's not relevant. The concept means nothing, it's the implementation that matters. He owns his implementation of it and Sony and Bluehole paid him to get the rights to use it. I doubt Sony is in the business of throwing money away on unnecessary licensing.
I have an original PS4 on my desk and sit a few inches away from it and it's the loudest thing on my desk. I also have an original Xbone, Switch and my gaming PC on their which has every right to be the loudest thing their with the amount of fans in it but isn't. I use high pressure low rpm fans.
Infamous second son seems to make my PS4 a jet engine but it's not so bad in other games.
I mean it's sold 25 Million copies already on PC alone. I doubt he has to worry very much about anything anymore lol.
