PC has entire game genres that don't exist on console. RTS games, MMO's, Sim games, even Turn-Based Strategy is virtually non-existent in the console world.

Mods. Virtually every game released on PC has them and they add a near infinite amount of content and are often just as good or better than the game they are layered on top of.

Just for the record, my last upgrade was an HD 6970. I overclocked the core clock from 880Mhz to 1200Mhz and the memory clock from 1375Mhz to 1600Mhz and it has been there ever since. If you do the math, that brings it to 3.69TFLOPS with 204.8GB/s of bandwidth.

Not bad for $170.

I don't understand why you think PCs should be built in a slim case and with a tiny power supply? I have used the same mid tower case and 650w power supply for a couple of builds in the last 6-7 years and see no reason to buy new ones every time I upgrade. As a matter of fact, putting your components into a slim case really limits your ability to overclock your PC (because of heat) and denies you of a significant amount of extra performance above the GPU's 'stock...

First, that 8Gb isn't dedicated to the graphics processing in the PS4. It is shared, both the amount of memory available and the bandwidth available. The O/S takes a bite, the CPU takes a bite and if the developer choses to use it, running physics on the GPU will take a bite too. Plus, a PC has system RAM as well, typically 8Gb minimum these days.

The 7970 isn't a $500 card either. It can be had for $370 and that is a pretty high performance card too @ 4.1Tflops.

You're kidding right?

I would use the same case and 650 watt power supply that I already own and have used for the past two upgrade cycles of my computer. Why would I buy another?
Same goes for my mouse and keyboard. All these things do not suddenly become obsolete just because I bought new innards.

And for me personally, I have a 500Gb, 1Tb and 3Tb hard drive in my present computer (the 500Gb and 1Tb are from previous builds) so I wouldn't ac...

Even this ridiculously cheap $50 Motherboard supports up to 16GB of ram so I don't know how many years back you are talking to get such a strangely low amount of RAM? Most current motherboards support at least 64GB of RAM now.

You don't need to spend $600 to beat out PS4's 1.84Gflops performance though. A radeon 7870 can be purchased today for $244 and it performs at 2.56Gflops (about 40% more power BEFORE overclocking) and it'll probably be down around $150 by the the time the PS4 actually launches.

Emulators to run powerpc software on x86 processors such as pearpc and sheepshaver have been around forever, run fast and are extremely stable and a new ati gpu being able to run code for an old ati gpu is obviously going to be easy. Backwards compatibility seems like a no-brainer to me.

"I would like to know what people mean by "latency issues". It seems to be the go to thing for PC gamers"

Latency is a measure of the time it takes to retrieve a piece of data from ram. The longer it takes the worse it is. For a gpu it is not as important as throughput because the workload is very parallel but for the cpu the latency is more important than the throughput since it's workload is very serial.

This is wh...

Actually, my blu-ray player plays all my DVDs, all my CDs, plays virtually any movie/music/pictures off a USB stick, plays virtually any movie/music/pictures off of PCs/laptops/tablets/phones wirelessly, plays any movies/music/pictures off any storage device attached to my wired network and streams movies and music from atleast a half dozen online services.

I'd wager not many people held on to their dvd players after they got a bluray player which played them with even better processing.

Rumours about the xbox 3 have been swirling atleast since 2008 about 'forward compatibility' in which the future (xbox 3) console would be able to play 360 games and play them better because the hardware would be similar enough to run the code and would be more powerful aswell.

It's not a large leap of faith to t...

This has unfortunately been the generation where gamers falsely believed that exclusive games were automatically the best games and multiplats were denied their due recognition because they were multiplat. Honestly, games like fallout, GTA5, bioshock, xcom, borderlands, oblivion & skyrim, portal, assasin's creed, red dead redemption, etc have gotten more of my time than the console exclusives this gen. I don't know how many times I've seen gamers defending a turd of a game si...

Sony has $161B in assets but also has $136B in liabilities. The fact that Sony's stock has been in decline for the last 13 years and that they have posted losses for 17 quarters straight now means that investors have lost confidence and rightly so. The company's value is $12.2B.

Sony has 161.56 Billion in assets.
Sony also has 136.66 Billion in liabilities. Simplistically you would say that the company is then worth 24.9 Billion.

The value of a company isn't only it's assets though. Sony's stock value has been dropping for over a decade from it's peak value about 13 years ago. Sony has lost money for 4 years...

As a die hard racing fan I love Gran Turismo. Bought a launch ps3 for it and it alone. GT5 prologue was nothing more than a demo for GT5 and it was criminal that Sony used GT fans to turn a quick buck. Microsoft had two Forza games and two Project Gotham Racing games out before GT5 even hit. By the end of 2012 MS will have SIX racing games out and they have already sold over 13 Million combined, the 360 is a far better plaform for the racing fan. Only thing I...
