I know, right? I was as glad as anyone to see the 3DS succeed. And we've still got great stuff coming.
- Shin Megami Tensei IV, obviously
- Mario and Luigi: Dream Team
- Pokemon XY
- Bravely Default
- Rune Factory 4
- Yoshi's Island
- Zelda: Link Between Worlds
- Smash Bros. 3DS
- Monster Hunter 4
Kingdom Hearts basically is Star Wars at this point. I don't see why they'd need to bring the actual thing in.
If true...
That's a ridiculous decision to allow such a budget that requires such sales. 10 million is an unbelievably unrealistic expectation for any but the select most popular long-standing IPs like GTA, and even then it's foolish to take those sales for granted. A new IP? Absolute idiocy, no matter how big or good the game may be. What is wrong with this industry?
This is actually completely irrelevant to the quantity of Nintendo's software lineup. Maybe you should consider that whatever Iwata has to comment about on game difficulty in interviews has no bearing on that topic. ;)
But who am I kidding? The chance to make a snappy remark isn't worth basic logic, is it? ;)
I meant that Pikmin is a proven formula and great gameplay, thus hard to mess up. It was a compliment toward the series, not an insult at Nintendo.
Agreed. What a talented team. I'm shocked to hear the team size is so modest, given the very impressive work they did with Xenoblade Chronicles even with the Wii hardware.
And yeah, it really puts perspective into game development. These guys can make a vastly superior game with just some dozen members than most AAA devs. I know Ubisoft has teams consisting of hundreds of people, yet these guys made a game of comparable size and immeasurable more depth than the Assassin...
That's part of what I'm talking about, I never said people like her were exempt from contributing to this state. It is very annoying to see all of gaming interpreted as mysoginistic by some people. Obviously there's stuff like DoA's boob physics which are really stupid, but some people make handling female characters seem so delicate it would be nigh-impossible to create one that pleases them.
But I'd be lying if the other extreme is any better. There are ...
I don't really care about Famitsu scores, or scores in general. I'd rather know what they thought of the game rather than some vague numerical estimate of their opinion of overall quality.
But nonetheless it's nice to see they liked it. It's hard to screw up Pikmin.
Someone's always gotta say this... -_-
What about how Fallout 3, Dragon Age, and Mass Effect have you brutally kill quite large numbers of female enemies and characters? What about how Lara Croft in the newest TR is consistently beaten up and smacked around? I don't recall anyone batting an eye against that for being mysoginistic. TLoU itself has several disturbing death sequences for Ellie (in addition to being seduced and threatened by a pedophile at one point), and...
About female bandits...
It also has to do with the animation skeletons needing to be different. They're one of the hardest things to create in game development and the very reason enemies in many games are homogenized into a specific body type (and thusly gender by extention); for the express purpose of keeping the work-load behind the animations and the AI scripting of them to a minimum.
As for the larger topic at hand, we may as well not bring up gender...
I doubt anyone would really gonna miss EA on the Wii U. I certainly don't care for them everywhere else.
May also have to do that it's a port of a 2003 game.
Still, an open-world game that loads the whole ocean at once, rendered at full 1080p enhanced with up-to-date lighting, is step up from how most of the HD ports of current-gen consoles only manage upscaled 1080p for such games.
Again, this isn't going to compare to the next-gen specs on the upcoming consoles, but at least there's still gonna be some pretty visuals to be had on the Wii U. Bayonet...

But sometimes you can just be grateful for what you have. I agree with you that HD is something we should expect, but like you said it's nonetheless good to finally see Nintendo in HD.
Take Xenoblade Chronicles. Sure, it was 480p visuals and the visuals definitely suffered for it. But the environments were still massive and the art and game were still amazing. It's not excusing the shortcoming or saying it's not important to have, but rather jus...
Bethesda's niche of open-world games must suffer the most from multi-platform console differences.
I mean, look at how they struggled with the PS3 for Skyrim. People can say what they want, but it wasn't simply Bethesda being lazy. The split system memory in the PS3, for one, must have been huge hurdle in optimizing their massive, content-packed envrionments to be rendered all at once. I've always suspected that's why they've always been so willing to do t...
A bunch of ports, a JRPG, and a Batman spin-off...
Can't really say I'm convinced by that article.
Your categories are diehard FF fans, females, people new to FF. What about the (many) diehard FF fans who hate her guts? I've heard from a few female gamers myself who think she's overhyped and shallow. And it doesn't take a FF veteran to recognize uncompelling characters in XIII. What about the horndogs who obsess over her? What about the people who enjoyed XIII? What about women who genuinely appretiate her character? It's not really productive or even really respectful to c...
"Exploit an old game to try and sell a new one the majority of people hate."
Is anyone honestly going to get LR for a costume? This isn't the first time SE has done something like this. It's a JRPG pre-order bonus, of course it's fanservice.
People have many valid criticisms about XIII and it definitely was not a good FF game, but people are just looking for excuses to ***** at this point. A pre-order outfit, really?
I n...
I certainly hope you guys have seen other games on the 3DS. If you have you'd know capable of much better visuals then this.
Pokemon is about content and not pretty visuals. It always has been. Pokemon could have done 3D visuals on the DS, but it chose not to so the creators could focus on making more activities, pokemon, and battles to enjoy in the game.
Besides, 3DS and other handheld games look much better in motion. XY is no exception and it looks fai...
There's always a best strategy for any encounter in any game. It's something these demos are rehearsed in to show the features they want to illustrate to the audience. That doesn't invalidate that you have choice and can opt to approach things in a variety of ways.
You're not forced to blackout the city, we don't know when he gains that ability in the game, and for all we know their will be other effective means of escape. The demoer didn't have to app...
All the other footage was likely running on PC hardware (as most multiplat games are built on). This is what the visuals are actually going to look like on consoles.
