Considering it has 2 480's inside, anyone with 2 580's or 2 ati 5970's would have a better gaming PC. It's possible.

Um, PC games and the discounts here are UNBELIEVABLY cheap, there are packs of games that cost same price as a special edition of a console game. The money savings here is insane.

Calling 360 and PC gamers "friends" is how it should be. We are all GAMERS, whether it's 360/PC/PS3. Sure, each have pros and cons that we should be honest about, but not running around with flamethrowers saying "360/PC/PS3 SUCKS!"

Go look at PC and get the prices. And if you have enough computer knowledge, look up PC parts. You can get KILLER machines for 800-1000 AT THE MOST, anything higher and you are talking dual or triple monitor and SLI/Crossfire setups.
Like TOSgamer said, $600 will get you a PC that will run circles around the consoles.

You don't even know what source code is...Source code stays at the developer. We get "compiled" code. And you don't always have to change the "code" of the game. Sometimes it's config files we tweak, or change video card settings, etc. There are many things that can be done. It will probably look very similar to what 3d looks like. Since 3d is 2 rendered images from 2 slightly different locations, they are already doing "splitscreen" optimizations. The good thing with split screen is that each screen for the 2 players is half the vertical res of 720P while 3D is 2 720P screens (Well it might be, Alpha had 3d running somthing like 540P so it might improve once it hits retail).

With no multiplayer, why get it on more than one platform? Trophies?
A serious question, I have bought games on more than one platform a couple times but it's only due to having some friends on PC and some on console and the game was multiplayer.
Dirt 2 isn't Sim level but you can't call it arcade either, especially when damage is on and you are on hardcore difficulty (no rewinding). It is pretty close to sim though (way more sim than something like burnout or NFS games, save for Shift) and the rolling physics actually looks balanced.

Slightly off topic but.....High end PC? Mid-range PCs have 2-4GB of RAM (memory) and that's just system memory. Depending on the midrange video card inside, you get another 512MB-1GB of video memory.
Both the PS3 and 360 have 512MB of memory TOTAL (both video and system) Xbox having 512MB unified system/video and PS3 having 256MB system/256MB video. High-end PCs are 8GB+.

HDR is not related to deferred rendering...Uncharted 2 has nice HDR and deferred rendering. It is quite possible that Halo Reach uses deferred rendering for lights as well, there are a HUGE amount of dynamic lights in Reach (each needle shot from the needler emits its own light source). I think the reason they don't make a big list of playlists for each game type is it would divide up the community into smaller and smaller chunks, which would make matchmaking take longer because there are less parties of varying sizes to form full lobbies.
That can happen when you are spamming the trigger and making your bloom very large, you just have to be lucky and hope with the huge bloom that your bullet will hit his head. The bloom shows the area on screen where the bullet could possibly land, which is random.

So why is a PC game worth pirating (Or whatever you mean by "other means") but console games are worth buying? Many console games are also on PC, and cheaper, and run at much higher settings (as long as you don't have an ancient PC or a crap one) and many support custom maps and features that console versions do not.
