I don't think I agree with the whole "objectives have to be more open" kind of thing. Keep the linear main objectives but allow for side jobs/objectives if you wish to be a completest or wish to get more gold/equipment.
The tight story and flow of thief games (except the third one, it was lacking this flow somewhat) along with the atmosphere is what makes it one of the best games of all time.
He brings up 30FPS "giving him headaches" but probably doesn't realize every movie at the theater or at home runs at 24FPS....including all bluray movies.
Lame article.
@Sprud
A listen server is completely different than P2P. P2P is how games like Crackdown1/2 COOP, Army of Two, and others work.

Server/client is the best solution for the type of games we are talking about. Server/client has 2 forms, dedicated and listen and you stated the difference of dedicated and listen. While P2P is complete...
MP doesn't have to die EVER. Instead of MP being totally gone when they remove their servers, let us continue playing on our own systems (listen servers).
Games with listen servers (meaning some one is host, many people call this "P2P", however P2P is completely different than listen servers)
COD
Halo
Gears of war (gears 3 will be a mix of dedicated and listen)
L4D (dedicated/listen mix)
GTA4

Gaming is like any hobby, a hobby. I don't see people complaining about old men making miniature models of things.

404's for me. I heard it was up for a while and then they got flooded with comments and emails from angry fans over steam not being listed and the list was removed.
I wonder if that is the case...
EDIT - Not sure why the link I paste keeps getting separated by N4G, Anti-spam filter?
Valve support is really know for being cool guys about that kind of thing. You might as well try to go through support for the difference to be put in your steam wallet. Just be nice about it and you might get it.
Can't hurt to try.
@GarandShooter
"your analogies are 'a joke and utter waste of time"
Once again, you say my statements don't work, but then offer NO counter-argument besides they are a waste of time. Unless you can offer a logical reason or SOME type of response why besides a lazy, completely weak "counter" of "are a joke....waste of time", you have no ground to stand on.

Oh really? Car manufacturers won't honor the warranty on a used car? Microsoft won't let you to continue to get windows updates if you were given someone elses copy of windows?

@GarandShooter
Nearly every single game on xbox, PS3 and PC run on YOUR COMPUTER/CONSOLE and use YOUR INTERNET CONNECTION as host.
Games can run without signing into a service, again, customer ignorance doesn't understand that games don't need a "service" to sign in. That "service" is there to stop pirating. In fact, many programs/games DO come with services. One example is how almost every game has a forum, run by the devs or publ...
Yea, it doesn't affect you unless you want to sell your game for something more than 5 bucks, let your fam/room-mates use it, goto a friends house and not want to put your login details on their machine or let your friend straight borrow it....
You call him short sighted, when you can't even think how this effects a person who buys the game new?
1.I buy it new, I can't play it at my friends house without logging in with my account, he can't even borrow it.
2.My siblings/house-mates/fam can't play the game's MP.
3. When I go to sell the game to gamestop or a friend or a stranger online through amazon or ebay, it will fetch WAY less due to the fact the MP is not in...
30FPS games that have full motion blur (camera AND object motion blur) will look VERY smooth even at 30FPS.
All movies you watch on DVD or bluray are only 24FPS, that's cinema standard. The thing is, in real-life, motion blur is a natural effect due to cameras and their shutter speeds.
Games like UC2/3, Gears 3, KZ2/3, Crysis 2, LBP1/2, Vanquish, Dirt 2/3, PGR3/4, God of war 3, Alpha Protocol (lol) all have object motion blur and run at 30FPS, which is a ...
I actually found it the opposite. First person aiming is better with the mouse obviously and I actually prefer how the mouse wheel lets you control Sam's movement speed PERFECTLY, while with a controller, you need to very carefully bend the analog stick at just the right point to get the speed you want without making too much noise in the game world.
Well personally, I don't like multi-GPU configurations because you run into compatibility issues when games first come out sometimes, so I like going very high end SINGLE GPU. Best thing ATi has right now that is single GPU is the 6970, AND it is priced VERY attractively (Around 350 American dollars for well known brands.) The next best card (before going multi-card) is the Ati 6990, which is actually a dual GPU, single card design. It is notorious for its loud fan (very loud) but it is t...
Especially since Windows will udpate your video card drivers and even the video card drivers have auto update alerts, both nvidia and Ati.
It's easier than ever to be a PC gamer.
I hate hearing this. Any gamer that has gaming as their main hobby can stop with this mentality of "I just want to put a disc in" and actually use their brain. Building a PC is not hard at all, it is AMAZINGLY simple once you learn it all, it can be taught in a day.
It is 2011 and so many people are yelling at game developers for being "lazy" dealing with complexities beyond their comprehension but then can't even figure how to put a simple PC together...
Depends on what you want and what you are playing on. 1 display? do you want to game with multiple displays? Personally I recommend using an HDTV and just doing 1080P with good AA.
@Winter47th
Why are you thankful? Does having the ability to make your own levels, characters, models, etc bother you?
Can anyone confirm who did the PC version of GTA4? Didn't another company just make the PC version and add higher texture res and better quality effects? I doubt they wanted to take the time to put the additional work into taking advantage of higher end PCs and just wanted to work purely on converting it to PC (Low cost).
