Yeah, there's nothing "must-have" coming out for a few months anyway (for either system, honestly).
And funny enough, the two or three launch games that ARE good will still be available those few months from now.
This is how it always happens, though. Publishers feed into the console war hype because historically (and ironically), launches are the least exciting times in a consoles life.
Actually, this feature has been around longer than most people realize.
For the longest time, though, you had to minimize your current game and "unpause" the game you wanted to download.
It was inconvenient, but I've been doing this for the past couple of years.
I feel a little better about my eyesight now, because I was REALLY having a hard time seeing any difference at all between the XBone and PS4 gameplay videos I watched, at least as far as aliasing was concerned.
I don't think it's sick. I just...cannot imagine myself alone in my room doing this with any amount of dignity intact...
Yeah, I agree with that too, though that's not exactly the whole story.
Gamers have been very receptive to the idea of "games as a service" as a COMPLIMENT to the traditional industry model. Just look at how successful Steam is. It doesn't REPLACE the traditional model, but it's great as a sort of "second wind" for games that some gamers would not buy otherwise.
The problem is that 99% of the time, it's not a service at all...
Or perhaps crashing into his house...with a truck to steal it.
I assume she's just wearing a bathing suit or a sexy leotard, but it looks like she has her shirt tucked into the front of her pants. Gave me a little chuckle.
Didn't Microsoft (and Sony for that matter) still make it possible for third party publishers to establish their own DRM on a game to game basis?
It could be that Activision is establishing it's own DRM...god, I hope this is all just a mistake.
@Death
Look, I think we will all admit that yes, Microsoft will no doubt find some flimsy precedence to LEGALLY justify their actions (as any big corporation would do).
But that doesn't make their actions any less MORALLY questionable. This is not a case of anything being "leaked." There was no criminal activity involved in this case...at all. This is a guy that ALREADY BOUGHT AND PAID for a product from an authorized retailer.
...
I actually agree with you. I'm very excited about next-gen, but the LAUNCH of next-gen is not all that exciting to me.
I'll get them in the coming months sometime.
Glad I'm not the only one that feels that way.
I love the "New" Mario games, but the art is just so boring and generic.
And unfortunately, now they seem to be using it for their other franchises.
Still going to be an epic game, though...
-Gespenst- didn't even say anything about Sony. Jesus H. Christ. How does this always become a conversation about Sony?
Think you got the wrong article, guy.
For all the hate I have for Chuck Lorre and every one of his routinely unfunny shows, I have to respect the fact that he and his crew somehow tricked a sizable group of viewers into thinking Sheldon was actually a funny character...and not simply one of the single most annoying ones ever conceived. Thankfully people finally seem to be coming around, but still...
It would be nice to get a show that didn't slap geeks with the same boring, inane stereotypes that have been ar...
It's just context. It was a segue into explaining why Sony might choose to re-release the system with slightly cheaper components and a slashed price point.
Don't make the mistake of assuming that everyone else is reading these reviews under the same pretense as yourself.
Nice article, and ironically I feel like gaming journalism HAS to move in this direction to keep it's integrity.
Perhaps Adam Sessler wanted to join the cult without drinking the Kool-aid, but that's just not how things operate. Things CAN'T operate like that.
It is impossible to preserve any semblance of integrity when you are essentially being bribed with free stuff. Both sides have to feed off each other for that symiotic relationship to flour...
Screen tearing is not something that translates well to off-screen video.
Plus, it's basically just a smoother form of v-sync, so I get the feeling that it's going to be one of those "if you don't notice, then it's doing it's job" sort of things.
Maybe not the revolution that Nvidia and early purveyors are having us believe, but a good evolution of technology all the same.
I totally agree with you....in regards to the PC version of this game. It had a lot of the exploitative, money-making schemes that MMO's so love to incorporate into their inherently addicting gameplay.
But the console version goes a long way in bringing back what made the original games great. It's all of the fast, brutal action and loot-driven compulsion without all of the corporate BS.
Yeah, it's a real problem when the first thing you have to do after rolling a character is create a chat scheme that does not include the "shout" channel.
"They just don't know better, until they experience better!"
This isn't a bunch of people squawking about things they know nothing about. These are people that have been playing Sim City and Diablo 3 with the "always-on" model...and (surprise, surprise) they still hate it.
