Those prices aren't really any higher than private collectors are charging.
I suppose since most people are used to getting games for free through emulators, any price they put on this stuff would seem high.
Surprisingly, they seem to be priced pretty reasonably:

I checked a few of those and they all fall just about in the middle of the high and low bids on eBay. This is such a good move. I love going to the local ma and pa stores for this stuff, but they just don't have the exposure to get any decent "legacy" stock in.
I like the Metroidvania-feel of Asylum. Arkham City was ridiculously good as well, but I have always preferred tightly designed, content-packed settings to open world settings in video games. It's also why I love the Souls games so damn much.
@ManOfTheYear1
The more "mature" tone was one of the issues I had with game, actually. I always thought it was funny how Lara went all "Tin Tin" when she stumbled upon some ancient ruins or relics, as if she hadn't almost gotten raped and her friends weren't captured by a crazy cult of island dwellers. The contrast between the gritty violence and her adventurousness was kind of ridiculous.
I think she looks better now, too. If nothing else it's a change of pace from the usual anime-waifu designs we get from Japan usually.
I won't argue that SF Zero looks like a Gamecube game, but when you compare footage, it is hard to imagine that a decade separates these two games:

How is this even an argument? Scuf controllers are freaking expensive as well. How does comparing them magically make the Microsoft controller NOT expensive?
The article is painfully mis-titled. This is actually about how the current market, with digital distribution and licensing models, is destroying the industry's history....which it is.
I don't know why the whole "art" thing was rolled into the title knowing that it's a pretty hot debate in and of itself. It's actually a fairly good article.
I've never really thrown in with this whole practice of declaring a "winner of E3," but I can say with all certainty that Nintendo's presentation killed pretty much all the excitement and anticipation I had for their releases over the next couple of years.
So in that respect...yeah, they "lost" E3. They just lost it to themselves, not to Microsoft and Sony.
I agree. If it wasn't clear before, it is abundantly clear now that they are completely out of touch with the industry...and not in the good "we follow our own path" kind of way anymore.
They're kind of the like the old, hopelessly set-in-his-ways old man that still scowls when he sees interracial couples.
Ok, let's be really real.
The two big IP's that Nintendo showed off (Star Fox and Metroid) looked both graphically and mechanically boring.
Metroid looks nothing like Metroid and apparently is so named to sell a few cheap copies by association. It looks slow and ugly and hopelessly simple and there was absolutely no point during the presentation when it seemed like the presenters were having any genuine fun.
And just for the record, a...
The funniest part was how uninterested the lady obviously was compared to the three dudes. Maybe she was just trying to stay professional, hah.
Oh yes, of course, Aerith. It's...been so long.
But think of it...the first half could be FF7 except Aeris lives, and then they could add a second life-simulator half in which Aeris and Cloud marry and inevitably separate when Aeris gives birth to Barrett's child. How does that not sound like fun!?
Well, I kinda like that the banter in between games seems to be more relevant and interesting than the other shows...but there's just so damn much of it. It's a little overkill.
^I don't think it has anything to do with the NX. The most surprising thing is that people are still surprised by their rampant consumer apathy.
I had to chuckle at Aonuma when he said something to the degree that he likes when he can't see other peoples reactions when playing coop in Zelda: Tri Force Heroes, implying that there will be no native voice chat...and they did the same thing with Splatoon.
They don't have a clue, and they don't ca...
I don't think there can be any denying that all three systems have been fairly disappointing this generation.
It is truly the era of previous-gen ports, retreads, remasters, and free-to-play garbage, if you ask me.
I think it's funny that everything she touches crumbles to pieces. I started noticing that about midway through the last one, and she's already destroyed a mountain in the new one.
By the end of the game, she's going to be scrambling to get off the planet before it crumbles apart.
How can a surprise be confirmed before it surprises anyone?
...I suppose I just don't mind variety.
Edit: Jesus, the fact that this is such a touchy subject is quite baffling to me.
