The mods seem like a pretty modest step up at this point, to be honest. It sort of just looked like color-correction to me. Maybe that's just a testament to how good CD Projekt made it look to begin with.
^Yeah, Bloodborne didn't even come close to the bugginess of the Witcher 3 (though I tend to agree that reviews glossed over a number of problems with that game too).
Even if you're lucky enough to avoid the game-breaking ones, you still have to deal with all the immersion-breaking bugs and glitches like texture pop-in, severe choppiness, random control issues, etc.
There should have been a clear indication in every review of the severity of these i...
I'm glad I'm not the only one. I'm FAR from being a grammar nazi, but it was bad enough in this article that most of it barely made sense.
What new games are you people referring to that makes you think Capcom is NOT taking away valuable resources to do these remasters? Their output of new games this generation has been absolutely terrible.
I love a good remaster as much as the next guy, but this generation has made it very clear that these devs are going WAY overboard to the point that it's affecting their actual new releases.
I think that's one of the most impressive aspects of these games is, and not a lot of people realize it.
Almost every item, every enemy, every boss makes contextual sense within the setting. If you read the description of the music box, it makes sense when you use it against Gascoigne.
Vox Media in general is a wash of PC bullcrap. They're nothing but a front for hyper-liberal agenda pushing.
...and I honestly consider myself quite liberal.
Yeah, their games seem a little....over the top to really be a good fit for the franchise.
But then everyone thought Retro was going to ruin the franchise as well, so we can't really make any hasty judgements. They can't really do any worse than Team Ninja and Sakamoto did with Other M.
I don't know why you're getting disagrees. We're apparently to the point now that pubs are firing devs if they refuse to design shitty, moneytrapping F2P games. It is not the brightest point the industry has seen.
Yeah, it's basically Team Fortress. A little disappointing that this is going to be their big "project game" for about the next 5-6 years, but I'm sure it will still be pretty fun.
@Repjaws
Too true, unfortunately.
I think it's more about the general state of Ubisoft. They seem to be nothing but a constant stream of bull-shots, heavily staged demos, retreads and even outright lies. No one really trusts anything they do anymore, and with good reason.
Don't take this as me throwing in the SJW's here, but...have we as gamers really become so reactionary toward SJW culture now that we have to attempt to pass stupid crap like this off as some grand, noble gesture of freedom?
It is literally just an action figure with soft boobs designed to push a few more cheap sales. Obviously it's not destroying the very fabric of gender equality in the industry, but can we just call it what it is? It's a shallow sales tacti...
Maybe Kojima wanted some Doritos
I agree with the idealism of that statement, but at the end of the day big-budget publishers push out the same tired crap over and over simply because people buy it. In that sense, it IS what people want.
Niche Kickstarter projects like these never push the same numbers as the CoD's and Halo's of the world, so I can't really agree with the assessment that it's a slap in the face of publishers.
Hopefully, though, it is at least an indication th...
Well, then this is perhaps not the best example of the power of DX12. There seemed to be around a 3-4 fps increase at any given time in the jump from 11 to 12, WELL short of the reported 50% - 70% increase that Microsoft has been alleging since they announced the partnership.
The games are obviously completely different, but a lot of the story themes and imagery actually did remind me of Silent Hill a few times. Like the nods to Lovecraft and all that mess with the cosmic childbirth and fetus creatures, and the general feeling of being caught in a nightmare.
I agree more with an article that was posted yesterday, though. Bloodborne reminds me much more of a current-gen 3D Castlevania.
I find myself playing on easy for games that I don't particularly like, but that still have a semi-interesting story.
I won't mention which ones I've done this for, for fear of the flames, haha.
Honestly, unless said nudity / skimpy clothing includes minors, these games do NOT get slapped with AO ratings (or even M ratings, for that matter) from the ratings boards. There are plenty of Japanese games out there with women in skimpy clothing that got 'T' ratings from the US ratings board.
Most of the time it's just Atlus being needlessly preemptive with their American localizations.
I want to be the inept Geralt who is not good at anything he does and only gets the women he has to pay for.
@GrieverSoul
And apparently, the "early" reviews are so shady and dishonest that we shouldn't care about those either.
So if we all stop and really think about it, what good are gaming reviews to anyone nowadays?
