Nice article. I'd like to think that there is some exception out there, a truly non-linear game that is different for everyone who plays it, but I am drawing a blank. Could it be that such a game exists, and has somehow fallen into obscurity? I'll have to get back to you on that one...

I can honestly say that if/when/ever I start playing MMOs regularly, HKO will never make the list. Just doesn't seem very like it would be very entertaining...

Great list, but why the general lack of gamecube games? Where's Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Viewtiful Joe, or DK: Jungle Beat? (Ok, maybe not Jungle Beat, but certainly the first two...)

I have no qualms with achievement whores, and in fact, know several of them.

To me, it's all a question of play style - some people play for a game's rich story, some play for the graphics, others for the depth and breadth of the achievement variety, others still because they are competing against themselves and the gaming community at large to get the largest gamerscore attainable.

Bottom line is, who are we, as individuals, to dictate how a game should and should n...

The extra maps in Portal: Still Alive are 3D versions of the flash version? Wow, now I've learned something...

If that is in fact the case, I'm glad I didn't buy Still Alive.

Still waiting for a true sequel!

I suspect one of two things will be necessary for Sony to decide to drop the PS3's price: either they need to be painted into a corner, (and be willing to admit it), or announce the PS3's successor, and the subsequent PS3 price drop after.

Either way, I don't see either happening in the near future.

Lots of great games on that list... But where was Myst, Chronotrigger, You Don't Know Jack, Dark Forces, Full Throttle, or Wing Commander III?

Ah, Nostalgia...

Wait, you mean it's *not* a breeding ground for pedophiles? :P

(Kidding, of course.) I mean, how sick would somebody have to be to even imply something so heinous?

KOTOR and Mass Effect are great examples of decision based gameplay done right. I think it's the next logical step for the Fable universe - after all, there are already good and evil quests, the player's appearance changes based on morality level, and characters respond differently based on how the hero addresses them.

All of the other aspects of good/evil are there; time for the Fable series to truly let you be a hero or a villain!

I can almost see it now - 'Wha...

I'd really like to see the overall extent of good and evil having a greater effect to the overall story in Fable III.

Yes, making players decisions ultimately effect how NPCs react was a good start, but imagine how amazing the next Fable could be if the entire story arc changed dynamically, based on good or bad behavior...

Maybe I'm wrong, but wouldn't the current economic climate warrant more risks from a game development standpoint, as opposed to less?

I'll explain: most game developers are well aware that a "safe" game isn't necessarily a profitable one. Sure, there can be 10 different Namco/Sega/insert game company of your choice here mini game collections, and they will all sell. But I can all but guarantee, they will not outsell a new IP, nor a *proper* sequel.

The ...

Being a longtime ghostbusters fan (movies, animated series, and NES games) I'm hoping the new game turns out to be amazing. Somehow, I don't think it will necessariy capture the humor - and fun - of the ghostbusters of yesteryear. I would love to be proven wrong...

I have complete faith in Rockstar - if they think a GTA title would work in a different country, then who are we to doubt them?

No Black Mage Chocobo plush, FF VII limited edition soundtrack box, or diecast replica of Squall's Gun Blade? ;)

There are rumors circulating the net that DJ Hero's soundtrack features a fairly large number of mashups - if this is, in fact, true, I seriously hope someone at Reprise works out some kind of licensing deal for Dean Gray's American Edit to be a part of it.

...But don't expect that to happen - not now, not ever.

It's no secret that Sony has most likely been working on the PS3's successor since the PS3 itself launched, but the real question is how far in development is it?

Personally, I would be very surprised if Sony released the PS4 anytime before 2012. 3 years seems like a relatively short period of time from now, but 2012 will mark the six year anniversary of the PS3's launch.

Of course, there is the possibility that Sony would release it earlier, but like any product wo...
