I think the possibility of a Kid Icarus reboot died along with the closure of Factor 5.
5/10? Looks like Darksiders has been bumped from the "buy" to "rent" list for me. My wallet thanks you, Dan ;)
All six of these will enter the mainstream much, much sooner than 2020. Take augmented reality gaming, for instance - Vuzix just unveiled a pair of consumer grade AR glasses at CES, and was demoing a game made specifically for the technology.
I got to spend some hands on time with Heavy Rain last week, and I left very impressed - so much so, that I immediately proceeded to preorder it. It's got almost a Shenmue feel to it, has a story that is intriguing, to say the least, and a level of immersion you wouldn't expect from a game that initially might have seemed like a digital novel.
I used to love Sonic Adventure, back in the day...
I don't care so much about the aesthetics of the characters themselves so much as I do about their personality. I'd much rather have a character that is engaging and funny then droll and monotone, regardless of how well rendered they are.
I'm a little surprised Assassin's Creed 2 walked away empty handed, but other than that, I agree with the list 100%. Hooray for a voting process where my votes actually counted for something! ;)
Yeah, Tingle is, err, a fairy of a different sort ;)
Who is worse - Navi or Tingle?
I haven't played enough Scribblenauts to have any kind of compelling argument for or against it. As far as Demon Soul's goes, the "learning curve straight from the NES" observation is right on the money. That said, while many may regard this as a fault with the game, I found it a welcome change from the tutorial heavy, dumbed down, handing holding games as of late. Is it for everyone? Certainly not - but it is a much more rewarding experience as a result of its unforgiving difficul...
You say "mind in the gutter" like it's a bad thing? Only in certain circles ;)
Also, on a completely unrelated note, by "studio" of course, I meant "style" (not sure why I typed studio, hahaha)
I'm not sure I agree with HOTD: Overkill's inclusion on this list. Sure, it's got an amazingly cheesy story, dialog and visual studio ripped right out of Grindhouse, and a certain character with a penchant for using f-bombs as commas, but all of these aspects were intentional.
So yes, it will not earn its place on any GOTY lists (unless there was a category for best B-Movie inspired on rails shooter), but it certainly doesn't deserve a top of the trash bin nod - it's not a &quo...
Virtual ownership seems like it should be an oxymoron... I will never see the utility of runes/MetaTIX/virtual currency. Micropayments, yes - virtual currency? Not so much.
As much as I could use this as an outlet to vent my hatred of all things Twilight... No. Just... No.
Ballmer misspoke on BluRay for the 360. In fact, Major Nelson was quick to debunk it...
I've always been a fan of pushing the envelope story wise - even if that means using folklore as a basis...
Are you ready to ROCK?
Corruption! Scandal! Is that a tinge of sensationism I detect?
An unwilling thumbs up? Not exactly a glowing recommendation, but I'm sure I'll still be picking ODST up. At some point. Maybe.
One point I feel should be made here - Ezio does not kill needlessly in Assassin's Creed 2. Not, mind you, that I feel compelled to justify the actions of a video game character, but bear in mind that anyone he dispatches is a villain.
In fact, not only does Ezio not kill innocents, but doing so is discouraged, and punishable by desynchronization. Ultimately, this makes the protagonist less of a mass murderer, and more of a man with no other choice to his actions.
