I definitely like the Harmony of Dissonance feel, but I'm not quite sold on the idea of multiplayer in a Castlevania title yet. That said, I will certainly give this one a download when it hits XBLA.
What criteria did EA use to determine the 8 teams picked for the demo?
Special guest appearance (and possible signing)? That would be EPIC.
Lucha Libre could be interesting - speaking of which, they're having live Lucha Libre Wrestling matches, on the show floor, to determine who's going to be on the cover...
I'm not sure I agree with the Jets outranking the Patriots, but that's more of my own personal preference.
Maybe worth adding to my gamefly queue, but I can't see spending $60 on this game. Consequently, I'm pretty sure Obsidian knew AP was flawed as of E3 last year - to the point where they delayed the game some seven months.
I'm not sold on the idea of 3D gaming yet, as it seems as more of a gimmick than a necessity. 3D capable TV sets are thus far ridiculously expensive, and I don't expect the technology to attract mainstream gamers en masse for quite some time.
"Profoundly evolve"? Sounds like marketing buzz words to me. Still, it's good to see EA has a reason for the re-branding...
Should be interesting to see what EA does to make their MMA game stand out...
While a lack of a fast travel mechanism adds a certain (and often welcome) sense of exploration to a game, it can also become an exercise in monotony very quickly if not properly implemented. Do I, as a gamer, want to spend long stretches of time going from place to place? It depends on if there is something to keep me entertained along the way...
There's a certain nostalgia involved with using retired sports heroes, I suppose. That said, who's next, Larry Bird? ;)
Gratuitous violence, a complete lack of story, and plenty of guns. Ah, memories...
That's a pretty comprehensive list you've got there. Any chance of an A-Z of Boxing games as a followup?
Consequently, is 2k sports, as its own corporate entity, even still around? If so, they've been pretty quiet for the past couple of years...
The only way this would make any logical sense is if they updated their review to reflect the online functionality, when available. Or, is journalistic integrity to much to expect these days? :P
I can honestly say I have never, and will never play any of those certifiably awful games. Glad to know I'm not missing much ;)
Funny you should mention that - because when I played it at PAX East, my very first impression on the game was "Wow, this looks like something right out of The Venture Bros!"
In any case, I absolutely can't wait to get my hands on the final build - Klei definitely has something very special here.
What, no Mario Tennis? *snicker* (Kidding, of course)
Maybe it's just me, but I don't see what the big deal about Backbreaker is just yet - seems like it's just trying to be Blitz: The League without using NFL licensed players.
I'm curious to know what system was used to determine the ratings - was there a sports consultant involved? Did they base these on existing historical data? Or were they just arbitrarily assigned based on anticipated team performance?
