Come in with low expectations, and you won't be disappointed. Duke Nukem Forever isn't necessarily a game that was 15 years in the making, as much as it is the sequel to Duke Nukem 3D that just so happened to take 15 years to be released.
The problem - and this isn't necessarily specific to the FPS genre, is that many developers end up using "dumbing down" synonymously with "adding accessibility".
The big question here is, will the RTS/3rd person combat mechanic work?
If done correctly, it could evoke fond memories of BattleZone, which blended ground based combat and RTS elements near flawlessly.
In any case, color me intrigued - I definitely am looking forward to learning more about this game.
Gamers collectively can breathe a sigh of relief that PSN is back up, but Sony will undoubtedly be dealing with the aftermath of the attack well into the future.
I thought Duke was (still) out of bubble gum? ;)
You and me both - I've been waiting a LONG time for DNF. Hard to believe it'll be released in one short month!
Unfortunately, as long as there are web based services, there will be someone inclined to try and break in to said services.
This is true regardless of the industry sector - be it entertainment (such as PSN and Xbox Live), Healthcare, Insurance, I/T...
That said, why did it take an "external intrusion" to prompt Sony to conduct a security audit on their network? Shouldn't they (and, for that matter, Microsoft as well) be doing so as part of t...
To tell you the truth, I completely forgot about XCOM! Outside of the brief gameplay walkthru at E3 last year, it had all but fallen off the map...
Careful, you're treading on some dangerous ground here.
Comparisons to COD's *largely fictionalized* version of war, and tragedies such as this open the doors for all manner of discussion regarding gaming's supposed desensitization effects...
That said, do I think these soldiers were deliberately reenacting a Call of Duty stage? Not in the least.
This remake looks fantastic - here's hoping the creator got permission from Sega first, I'd hate to see it get pulled!
Gamestop may not be looking to become the next netflix, but I wouldn't be surprised if they're trying to capitalize on the cloud gaming fad.
Despite many, MANY sequels both currently announced and still in development, I don't expect to see a lack of new IPs anytime soon.
Taking as bold a creative risk as to develop a new, from the ground up title is a daunting undertaking, but at the same time, can offer numerous rewards. For instance, where would Rockstar be if their entire catalog were limited to GTA Spinoffs?
Thankfully, for us, as gamers, developers are still willing to take these ri...
The man, the myth, the legend - and apparently, HHG can add the phrase "The Phenomenon" to his ever growing repertoire now.
I've never really been a fan of the whole GamerCrush thing. Granted, a gamer is free to spend their hard earned dollars however they choose, but playing for a "playmate"? Really?
...and yes, that double entendre was 100% deliberate ;)
I'm intrigued with what I've seen of Homefront thus far. While I don't think it's necessarily going to become the next big thing in the genre, the deliberately plausible story, large maps, and unique Battle Points system certainly warrant a closer look.
The footage confirms what I've known since E3 - the 3DS, and Resident Evil 3DS - are both day one, must buy purchases for me.
Regardless of the potential reasons Activision *could* make Black Ops - or, for that matter, any of the other titles in the COD series - a PS3 Exclusive, should they? The answer, as far as I'm concerned, is a resounding no. I have no doubt the franchise could improve if it were specific to one platform, but not enough to effectively triple the sales (which, from a business standpoint, is what Activision would need to warrant single console exclusivity).
To the contrary, a...
Respawn will be doing everything in their power to distinguish themselves from IW. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if they try to establish their new venture as the ANTI-IW...
...So, short answer is, no - I doubt very much Respawn will have any problems sales wise.
The art style is great, but these days, but I've come to expect A LOT from 5th Cell after Drawn to Life and Scribblenauts...
Good catch! Developer Mommy's Best Games did in fact make Weapon of Choice as well. Serious Sam: Double D is their very first PC game, the others (Explosionade, Weapon of Choice, and Shoot 1-Up) are all XBLIG titles.
