fullforcepower is correct. Its a fantastic platform and great to use however it is not 100% reliable. Not a massive issue but the idea is you build services that sit ontop of it to sell to people. i.e. if I made a point of sale system that runs on it for a shop chain, when azure goes down so does their business. The idea of cloud computing is redundancy and 100% up time. The dream is still currently the dream.
It would look like crap though to be fair. No engineer is that good.shame though it would be awesome with a capital fuck yeah
This isnt even news we have known this in the unity world for ages!
I really don't know what is going off today - I am clearly not with it :o)
The TLOF was just my brain taking a holiday. The tripple though was a "type and send before the boss walks up moment".
Thanks teach! :op
DOH! even a tripple DOH!
There was a fantastic blog post doing the rounds about a year ago by a consultant that worked for HMV. He lobbied and lobbied them to get with it going right back and they laughed him out of the exec room. HMV were convinced mp3 would never take off.
found it - http://www.readability.com/...
To be fair jobs dont go they just change.
You try being a developer of online systems for shops/the web. You dont apply for jobs... jobs apply for you.
No joke.
Jobs are still there in the stack, they are just different jobs to those being taken away with the collapse of the physical shop.
Absoluty Lovefilm put the traditional video shop to bed a long time ago.
BB did do a similar postal renting system for some time and I used it for a while. It was just as good as LF. I think once Amazon was in with LF though they just out advertised BB on the web/postal rental front.
note - Lovefilm is the big DVD/Blu-ray by post (and Netflix like streaming) service in the UK.
I am betting now that this savage starlight is an actual game. They will have been working on it since UC3 and thats how team A was able to provide the comics etc for team B while doing TLOF. We should assume the game is pretty far along. I think I am being optimistic but a later half 2014 date is not too out of the question. We know they are using the same engine on ps4 and ps3 so its not as if they have had to completely retool etc. They are most likely using much of the same codebase too l...
I agree with others I have a gaming PC which destroys these two new consoles but I am totally stoked about next-Gen and happy to pay more for technically inferior versions of the games for them. why?
As great and as powerful as PCs are, even with a gamepad they just dont have that plug and play, no stress, way of playing that consoles have. I tried and tried to enjoy PC gaming but just could never get into it as a relaxing experience.
For people with all the...
Indeed, casual gamers are like casual sex, they love it when its there but will never think of you again once they move on to other things.
I was talking about how the cloud cant help a poor graphics setup but... right on brother. Absolutely.
Given that they seem to be charging £10-15 (UK) more per game at this point they are not giving too much away for free really are they. If anyone tells me the cross-gens cost more to develop to include the new consoles I will punch them as they are the same assets etc that are in the PC version which is often sold for £20 at launch.
Small regrets going from a both console buyer to just the ps4 but I still cant justify the xbox just for forza at this point. meh. I hate logic.
Like the commend on the artical where someone still believes the cloud is going to make a massive difference. Without forcing everyone to be online now the cloud can only be used for online games. And in those instances can only be used for offloading things like AI calculations which could be interesting I agree but the graphical power difference will never be bridged by the cloud. If we are seeing the resolution differences we are seeing now due to the internal memory bandwidth differences ...
I can see after this 720p business MS will push for 1080 running at a lower setting to compensate.
I did screen grabs of 1080 and 720 under the same settings and then scaled up the 720 to 1080 on the PC right back when the consoles were announced and we were talking about what the power difference might mean. There is a real difference and yes it wont ruin the game and all that but also a skoda will get you and your date out for dinner just as well as a lambo but why take the skoda when you have a choice of a lambo.
This scaler thing is a bit of a smoke and mirrors.
On ps3 with my 1080p tv, when I launch into a game I get a little notification on the TV saying it has gone to a 720p source. The TV is then doing the scaling up to 1080p. This has never been an issue before so I dont see why people are clinging to this idea that a hardware scaler in the Xbox One is some magic bullet.
Have to agree with others, MS should of just held out and got their hardware on a par with the ps4 (or closer), got all the software working internationally and gone with a spring or even holiday 2014 release. It didn't hurt the ps3 lifetime sales to be nearly a year and a half later (in the uk at least).
I personally would of made each season a unique story with a unique(ish) set of characters. The season to season thread and the thing that keeps you coming back would be the Clem. The over all story would he her survival where others have come and gone. Maybe it only works if you are a farther yourself but the parental, protection thing between lee and Clem, not having complete control over her safety was what was really compelling about series 1.
