I am a Civilization nerd, and the difference is far more apparent when you compare Civ Revolution vs Civ 5. I like both games mind you, but Civ Revolution is a dainty little toy game compared to the real deal.
It is not true, the article confirmed the rumor that they were repeating was false. There is not going to be a next-gen until there is a game engine that can handle it. The next-gen unreal engine will not come out until 2014.
Ergo, there will be no next-gen until at least 2014, but I am sticking by my 2015 prediction. Neither Sony nor Microsoft have any incentive to change because they are both raking in the dough.

It is probably a good thing that they will not have to emulate the xbox 360 on PC's then, as .NET makes it so that the code can run more or less natively on PC's.
Actually, if you look a a business analysis of why Sony's TV business is imploding, the criticism is that Sony over charges for their TV's....

The WiiU is not a next-gen console. It is a this-gen-point-five console. It is designed to keep Nintendo competitive for the next 3-4 years before the NextBox and the PS4 are launched.

Zero chance of NexBox in 2012. Zero nill Nada. If the WiiU is somehow a blow out success, there there is a slight chance of a 2013 NexBox launch. 50/50 in 2014 if the WiiU is getting any traction at all. But I think the calender date penciled in at Microsoft XBox HQ is September 2015, subject to change pending market considerations.
