@Rageanitus
I won't pretend I'm a hardware expert, but I know that your assumption about the power differences between Xbox One and PS4 is incorrect.
Just because the "GPU/CPU are made by... AMD", does not mean they are equal. That's like saying every single one of AMD's graphics cards are the exact same, because they are all made by the same company.
Pure technical specs don't lie. From a thread on Neogaf:
Definitiely not the first time I've heard there are some problems with the controller. No, it's not "shitty", but there are a number of cases where people have been surprised at the controller due to it being a successor to the 360 one, arguably one of the best controllers made.
Generally, complaints seem to stem from the Xbox One controller being slightly smaller than it's 360 counterpart, the sticks being too loose, and the close nature of the bumper a...
Actually I remember seeing 4 screenshots for Agent a long while ago. I believe it was an ex-Rockstar environmental artist or something who put them on their publicly-accessible profile. Hazy on those details, it was a long time ago.
So we got a title, and some screenshots :P
Lucky! Darned Australian tier-2 peasant here. I'm really bummed about missing the launch, seeing as the hype has been building for a long time now.
But hey, there's always next time :P
I leave for a 3 week holiday on the 27th of November... The wait is going to be hell.
Actually, someone on Neogaf gave their brief impressions of the game (couldn't do anything more due to embargo).
They liked it.
@Lalanana
I believe what pedro is saying, is that this is actually confirmation there is *less* GPU "power" at launch than what was previously announced.
Microsoft are currently withholding 10% of their GPU for apps, to be given back later when this can inevitabley be optimised. We take the previously announced 1.31 TFlops and remove 10%, giving only 1.18 TFlops.
So Microsoft are shipping with a weaker GPU than specs say (1.18TFlop...
I think the problem with all that, is that it is uneconomical for Sony to focus on making too many separate attachments or peripherels for one product. Sure it may sell some, but not nearly enough to make it worth their while when it comes to having to design, manufacture, ship, etc.
It's better for them to keep it as simple as possible. That's all guesswork, of course.
The only way you'd really get that is through third-party manufacturers.
Gosh, so many people have a persecution complex on this site.
I don't understand why the issue was blown out of proportion enough to warrant this article. Both Sony and Microsoft made their fair share of hardware faults at the conferences this year, and no, neither have really being called out about it.
Anyone with an inch of maturity would be able to understand that the system software for both consoles still in development, especially was the case at E3...
Well, they did hire that new marketing team. May have something to do with the lack of creepy babies this generation.
I'ld make a guess and say not as many as they wanted to. That much if obvious from the reduced number of launch countries. It's apparent Microsoft were not ready for launch, and it shows through their policies, 180s and similar problems.
I think that they'll do well this holiday season, in countries such as the UK and US. Especially so if there is a shortage of PS4s.
All I said above is purely conjecture, no one knows for sure, but what I said m...
I get what you're saying. But in my opinion there's a distinction between the Playstation Plus edition of Driveclub, and a Free to Play model.
For example, I expect (hope) that the best cars and what-not will be locked behind a payall in Driveclub, as they most likely will be in Deep Down.
The whole details on it have been sketchy though, so we'll just have to see what happens on release.
It certainly deserves more support than it is getting now. Must admit, I had never really felt compelled to buy one (actually had completely slipped off my radar), until last month when I decided to get one due to KZ: Mercenary and Tearaway coming out.
Don't regret the decision one bit, had about 19 games off of PS Plus for free, and apart from the absurd memory card, feel like it has been worth every dollar.
The Vita truly deserves the praise it get - I ...
That's because you don't care for the PS4.
I imagine an Xbox fan wouldn't get overly excited about a PS4 exclusive free to play.
Isn't there an option with Driveclub just to purchase the full game outright with PS Plus?
I imagine you would have the option of buying individual cars and/or tracks, but there would be an option to buy everything.
And Driveclub is a bit more than Free to Play, seeing as the only locked things are some tracks and cars - you can still "complete" the game and get platinum with the Plus version.
That didn't apply this gen. Many PS3 ports were noticeably shoddy thanks to the complex architecture. I don't really feel like its dev's biggest worry to gimp a version simply such that it runs the same as on another.
This generation Sony has been behind the ball on online services. They either didn't have the money, or ability to implement the same features as Xbox Live.
For this reason, it's always a tad exciting when Sony announces they're bringing their service up to standard (or exceeding on some cases). It's especially important they do, if they expect people to pay now.
Not meaning to diminish your hopes, but the PS3 could have up to 7 I think controllers connected at once. Very few games took advantage of it, and although some people might have, I never heard anyone actually using the feature.
It would be nice for sport-game-parties or the like, but it's a feature you soon forget about.
I think he misunderstands the premise of what this does.
I think towelie is referring to the profiles you can select (at the left of the XMB), each tied to another account. Which is, of course, different to signing on with 1-4 accounts on a single profile.
Oh the irony.
