Sony doesn't need to. Microsoft hasn't mentioned MAU (Monthly Active Users) in any of their NPD PR statements since January. In May NPD, MS only mentioned that gaming hours doubled that of last May. This is uninformative because last May had The Witcher III, a single-player focused game whereas this May, we got Battleborn and Overwatch, both multiplayer games.
Well, here's my list based on what I've found (the list only includes games that are already out, btw):
PlayStation 4
Amplitude
Hardware Rivals
Croixleur Sigma
The Witness
Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth
Crypt of the Necrodancer
Nitroplush Blasterz: Heroines Infinite Dual
Megadimension Neptunia VII
Gravity Rush: Remastered
Firewatch
Street Fighter V

No circle jerking here, so I have no idea what you're seeing. However, I'll entertain you with some interesting facts.
- PS4's May 2016 NPD is the first time a console has exceeded 200,000 sales in May since the 360 in 2011
- This is the XB1's second worst NPD month. Its worst month was May 2014, where it sold 77,000 units because Microsoft announced the Kinect-less SKU that month, so consumers held off until June 2014
- The XB1 had some re...
@nix
Yeah, this really needs to be iterated. Power was not the XB1's biggest issue. If it was, then no one would be buying the XB1 versions of multiplat games. There are two main reasons for the console's struggles:
1.) XB1 and PC overlap is getting bigger and bigger. If you have a decent PC, you might as well just game on that because not only can you play Microsoft's games, but also games from Steam.
2.) XB1 library is too monotonou...
Check Uncharted 3's release date and you'll know why Sony shipped that many copies. November is a way waaaayyy bigger month than May, so Sony shipped 3.8 million in anticipation of the holiday season. The fact that Uncharted 4 sold-through 2.7 million in just one week during a slow month is a great achievement in itself.
@thekhurg
I could've sworn Microsoft said that they would report MAU (Monthly Active Users) since they consider that as a better unit of success. However, we haven't gotten any MAU numbers since January NPD.
"Best month of global engagement" basically means that total XB1 sales are bigger after April than before, which is a very meaningless statement since it's impossible to sell negative units.
"Keep in mind that most of those badass characters take off their clothes for Geralt."
And? I don't see anything wrong with that as long as the action is consensual, in which it was.
All sales numbers are for KT's fiscal year ending March 2016 and DOAX3 was released on Mar 24, meaning that it sold 190K in just 7 days. I don't put much faith in Chartz's numbers, but it has DOAX2 sales at 250K. So what does this mean? It means that DOAX3 sold 76% of DOAX2's LT sales in 7 days despite the former not being officially available in the west.
@need4speed
Scalebound is not coming out for another 8 months at the very minimum. Plus, the only JRPGs that have come out on the XB1, so far, are FF Type-0 and Stranger of Sword City and they're available on other platforms. Heck, you can get the Vita version of Stranger of Sword City physically or digitally while the XB1 version is only available digitally...
So yeah, 2 JRPGs 29 months into this gen, neither of which are exclusive to the XB1, the Xb...
Not buying a game based on what a female character wears is a rather dumb reason. I think everyone agrees that aspects such as personality, growth/development, and interactivity are way more important than appearance.
So I ask you, Kalebninja. Instead of stating your opinion ad nauseaum, how about attempting to understand the other side? Claiming that you need to continue stating your opinions to show not everyone thinks the same way is a lame excuse because people here alr...
Microsoft, themselves, also admitted that the 11 million 360's they sold at the beginning were faulty. They didn't extend the warranty until July 2007, about 19 months after the console's launch. The RROD really skewed the perception of how well the console was actually doing. This was supported by Strategy Analytics's report on the PS3 and 360's userbase: 3662d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment
I guess AVALANCHE won, eh?
There's not much information regarding the XB1's sales. The last time MS used sold-through numbers was in January 2014. Ever since, they only used shipped numbers, but they also stopped reporting those, too.
Best thing we have is that it is still doing better than the 360 going off of Aaron's PR. Approximately 2 years into last gen, the 360 sold 17.7 million units. From that, we know that the XB1's sales are over 17.7 m, but we don't know by how much.
@EDMIX
You have a great point there. If you align the 360 and XB1 launches, their userbases are quite similar. However, the 360 had a larger JRPG fanbase because Microsoft actually pushed for JRPGs: Tales of Vesperia, Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon, to name a few. This generation, we are not seeing this JRPG push from Microsoft. In fact, it's non-existent. So while both consoles' userbases are similar launch-aligned, the XB1 has substantially less JRPG fans in its userbase...
Remember, Nomura announced KH3 before the PS4 and XB1 even came out (E3 2013). At that time, Square thought that because the 360 did well, the XB1 will easily do the same. However, reality has showed that Square's prediction was off.
It really showed when Final Fantasy Type-0 came out. The PS4 version outsold the XB1 version 4 to 1 in the US. The worldwide ratio is even more skewed towards the PS4. What made matters worse was that the XB1 version sold below the minimum pr...
Having a diverse lineup is incredibly important for a console to remain viable. You can't appeal to just one or two demographics because that limits your scope and outreach. This is especially true if your competitor also appeals to those same demographics, so at that point, you need to branch out.
The PS4's lineup covers many different genres; it's not just one note. It has JRPGs of both the turn-based (e.g. Neptunia, Digimon) and action (e.g. SAO: Hollow Realiza...
Nope, I'm not making things up. I should also point out that the PS3 userbase already surpassed the 360 by the end of 2010 all thanks to the RROD: http://www.inquisitr.com/10...
You also just made a strawman fallacy. I said that the Wii and Kinect catered to a different audience, which is true. Both products utilize very simple inputs in comparison to the standard gamepad, hence why the...
Yeesh, false equivalencies galore...
We're talking about video game consoles here, not music. Also, the PS3 eventually outsold the 360 despite a 1 year disadvantage. The Wii and Kinect catered to an entirely different audience that has moved onto smartphones. This is why the Wii U is not selling well and the 2nd Kinect flopping the way it did. The markets those products tried to catered to already migrated to another medium.
PS4 and XB1 cater to the same ...
When you think about it, it's actually a huge compliment :D
