The problem is that Microsoft keeps burning bridges. They can't count on Crytek for Ryse 2 because the developer is in financial trouble. Insomniac? They're working with SIE San Mateo on Spiderman. Remedy? They've gone multiplat for their next game. And of course, Scalebound got canceled.
However, Platinum Games has a reputation of being able to finish games on a constrained budget. They're really good at using its resources efficiently.
When it comes to Microsoft, they have a history of burning bridges:
- Cancellation of True Fantasy Live Online (Level-5). The cancellation happened 13 years ago, but Level-5 still refuses to make games for the Xbox platform.
- Bungie splitting up from Microsoft for the purpose of creative inde...
The US and UK are the only markets where the XBO can be competitive against the PS4, but it appears that the UK is out of the XBO's reach. On the week of the Pro's launch, the PS4 outsold the XBO by 20,000 units. It doesn't sound a lot until you find out that the XBO was heavily discounted during that time. According to Gameindustry.biz, the PS4 generated £20m in revenue whereas the XBO only generated £9m.

Aaaaand this is why I look at JRPGs (and games, in general) from a meritocratic point of view. If the JRPG has good story, characters, development, world building, and gameplay, then whether it is an action JRPG or not is irrelevant. To judge a game based on its gameplay mechanics and only that is extremely nearsighted, to put it in the nicest sense...
Since you are the writer of this article, you have no excuse for not doing the necessary research prior to publishing it. You should not be defending your lack of due diligence like what you're doing now and instead, do the research and edit your article in reflection of what you find.
The software debate is rather skewed when you tally up the games that are on one console, but not the other. For instance, the amount of JRPGs that are on the PS4, but no the XBO is stagg...
You need more than just one game per genre to call a console's library diverse.
@Septic
Gears 4 literally did not sell that well. Its first week sales in the UK is <105K units. For reference, here are the first week sales for previous games:
Gears 1 = 100K
Gears 2 = 220K
Gears 3 = 323K
Gears Judgement = 80K
In the US, Gears 4 only sold 505K units including bundles according to October NPD. Why did I say only? Because Gears Judgement sold 620K in its first month.

@Septic.
Gears 4 is almost selling as bad as Judgement based on leaked GFK and NPD numbers. That's not good for the franchise's overall health, especially when it is one of Microsoft's staple IPs.
They're not even talking about Monthly Active Users. Microsoft literally compared the number of active users on November 27, 2016 vs. November 27, 2015.
"In fact, the total players online on Sunday, Nov. 27 was up 40 percent compared to last year"
That's the kicker. Type-0's ratio was the same in the UK, but neither Sony nor Microsoft advertised the game. This makes the FFXV ratio even worse because Microsoft has to go out of its way to convince XBO owners to buy FFXV just so the ratio doesn't become even more lopsided.
It's not the amount of time that matters, but how you use that time. Sony used its time at E3 really efficiently.
At least Sony didn't shut down an existing game or canceled multiple games like what Microsoft did with Project Spark, Phantom Dust remake, Project Knoxville, and Fable Legends.
Driveclub sold over 2 million in less than a year. What did Evolution Studios in was the horrible launch. And if Driveclub really flopped, then why was Sony willing to make a VR version of the game? I agree on The Order. No Man's Sky flopped critically, but it still sold a lot, like over 0.5...
Well, the standard PS4 and Pro, while different in power, are still very similar. They both use the Jaguar CPU and 8GB of GDDR5. If the Pro is using the Zen CPU and 12GB of RAM, in contrast, then we will definitely see a bunch of problems. However, because the overall setup is similar, developers can make the standard PS4 the lead platform and scale up the settings for the Pro without compromising either version.
Also, Koei Tecmo released Arslan and Attack on Titan on the XB1, presumably to test how much interest the XB1 fanbase has on its games. For the publisher to decide that Berserk won't be coming on the XB1 shows that KT has seen enough.
@TheManicCoder
Real gamers are also practical. Why waste money on a redundancy? Considering that I can play Forza Horizon 3, Gears 4, and Scalebound on PC when they come out, do I really need an Xbox One or a Scorpio? I also have the advantage of not needing to pay $60/year for Xbox Live. I can use mods on multiplat games whereas I can't on the Xbox One or Scorpio. I can use Remote Play and PS Now on my PC whereas I cannot on either the Xbox One or Scorpio. In contrast,...

This is the closeup of the space between the two USB ports. It appears that the Square serves as the optical port and Sony also took the liberty to make the Circle a 3.5mm port. We still need official confirmation, but we know for sure that the space between the two USB ports was not a coincidence.
Yep, if you look at Microsoft's 1st party release schedule for this year, it's atrocious. Quantum Break was not well-received and the next Microsoft published game is not out until September.
In addition, the main contributors to the XB1's struggles are the lack of indies and Japanese games. We see several indies going on PS4 (and PC, too), but not on the XB1. Some of them are rather huge games, too, like The Talos Principle, The Witness, and Firewatch. Japanese...
I'm tempted to call Microsoft's E3 conference the PC Pre-Gaming Show from now on.
PS4's userbase should be 2x the XB1's userbase now. We also have to acknowledge that E3 took place in the US and the PS4:XB1 ratio in the US is less than 2 to 1. If you look at that graph, Sony's conference got ~8x more buzz than MS's conference.
We can actually prove beyond reasonable doubt that the Xbox One did not sell 33 million. After the Xbox 360's third full calendar year (2008), its sales topped 28 million to consumers (Source: http://venturebeat.com/2009... ).
If we look the last sentence of the first paragraph of Microsoft's post-Holidays 2015 PR, it reads as follows: "Than...
