Maybe some of us guys want good games made by good people who are currently not doing much of that and could really benefit from having MS's check book behind them.
Oh, and some of us want to have an actual conversation about gaming without little console warriors turning into a fanboy crying session every damn time.
I offered my take on potential acquisitions and studio talent that could help them build a good pressence in Japan.
...
I wouldn't blame them for staying out of Japan. BUT IF they were going to try to invest, I identified studios and figures that have previously worked exclusively with MS.
I don't know what systems you're trying to protect, but Inafune, Sakaguchi, and Futatsugi deserve full studio support. MS would still push for Xbox and PC releases, and Xcloud would capture mobile-first users.
So yeah, I think not having well-funded Japanese talent is so...
@sushi
Maybe Series Y.
I suspect Series S for lower model. Series C for a streaming only version? Series D for a digital version? It allows for multiple products in the console line for the future.
After this "gen" I would look at something like BMW as their guide for the kind of naming conventions I suspect they'll go with.
It's a different naming method for consoles, but quite normal for many ot...

Series (noun)
Definition: a number of things or events of the same class coming one after another in spatial or temporal succession
Sure implies it to those who speak English. They've come out and said the name is just "Xbox" and this one is the Series X version. You figure it out.
Agreed. Even Nintendo might not be realistic. I still expect an Xbox Japan aquistion but smaller in scale.
I think White Owls is the most likely (Swery's ties to some of the XGS teams certainly makes it a good fit).
I don't rule out Mistwalker and Sakaguchi being courted pretty hard (get them out of mobile please!).
Dark horse would be pulling Comcept out of Level 5, or making a play for all of Level 5. Doubtful though. But mon...
Agree with Darxyde. We shouldn't put PETA in the same sentence as "animal rights."
Despite their reach, resources, and means, they continue to put their efforts into bullshit like this. And then there's the whole killing thing..
Keep fighting the good fight, little soldier.
Funny enough, I had bought it on 360, PC, and X1, but never played on PS until it went to PS Now. No MTs from me though. Pure grinding and modding on my end.
I played for a few weeks of SP on Now and got a few trophies, Rockstar got that check from Sony, and Sony got my sub money. Seems like everyone won. Well, maybe not bitter little console warriors, but they're not important.
Also, G...
I'd be good either way. Perfect Dark has unrealized potential, and would make for a great backdrop for a 3rd person action game.
I know the Initiative intially said they were gathering up ideas early on from all staff. They were looking for whatever could be done the fastest. I could see a reboot fitting that bill.
I still think we should bank on a 3rd person action/adventure title with light RPG and open world elements as their focus.
Tell that to the detractors who tried to say that MS bought it after its peak.
For an even better time, check out some of the poor takes in old articles about the purchase from this site:

Just Googled "Cross Gen holds back PS4." You sir, are 100% correct.
Funny that people seem to have forgotten that time period. It's almost like we had a damn good generation despite cross gen games in 2013, 2014, and 2015.
Ah well, this time is totally different, I'm sure.
@s2
Sure. Good examples. Add Halo Infinite to that list now.
It's not 2000. What other tech market accepts a complete hard stop to support without cross generational support? It's time to grow up, boys. Not everything evil MS does is bad.
Go enjoy your PS5s and their totally amazing next gen-only games...like....well, damn. Looks like we're comparing Xbox to unannounced hopes and dreams.
@rain
MS literally told us their plan. Next 1-2 years of 1st party are going to be cross gen. They also identified smart delivery plan.
On the other side, we've got Jim Ryan talking vaguely about "fast transitions" while also hearing that PS+ and services will assist transitioning to next gen PS5. Let's connect the dots there.
They're doing the same damn thing, but Xbox has been explicit about their plan. How that ...
Seems spot on to me. They've made it clear that they're going to support current gen for another year or two. Awesome. Being forced to jump into next gen obviously isn't very appealing to all consumers.
PS4 didn't sell 110 million units in its first 1-2 years. Even with huge success stories like the PS4 or Switch, they were barely pushing 30 million by the end of year 2.
Why not give as many gamers as you can the opportunity to enjoy game...
Non-gameplay trailers aren't going away, but now is the perfect time to give us actual gameplay. This isn't a cram-it-all-into-an-E3-showcas e situation. Just show off a gameplay demo or two each week with an interview or two.
I'm not too bothered by what we've seen lately either way. I am confused why MS hasn't just shown Halo in depth though.
It's their flagship title. It's launching with the SX. It shows off smart delivery ...
I've been enjoying PS Now, Game Pass, and Animal Crossing since this stuff started in March.
Retro physical has also gone way up in price, so I've been cleaning up online selling duplicates.
I'd say gaming in general has been doing great during covid.
Fanboys 2019: MS always abandons hardware at the end of a generation!
Fanboys 2020: MS should abandon hardware at the end of the gen!
Same. Every topic rehashed over and over and every word of every dev scrutinized tenfold.
@gamersday08
...or I'm just responding to the topic posed by the article.
We saw a gameplay trailer that did not show new ways to play. No one said it's not possible, but we didn't see it. Which, again, is the whole point here.
Seeing as though UE5 will be used on many 1st and 3rd party console games and by hundreds of PC games, this doesn't seem like a fanboy topic to me. Sorry I don't fall for the marketing spin ...
"Imagine UC with 100s of players engaging in treasure hunt together in a race, Lara Croft could fly or GOW is open world with bigger and more "Gods"."
We can imagine it, but we didn't see it. That's kind of the point.
@rain
Maybe in some circumstances, but in this market they had to lead with the "most powerful" product. Any discussion of weaker-spec'd machines would take focus away from the power narrative they've been pushing for 3+ years.
They might be able to start talking about other versions soon, but for my money, I'd be telling them to keep this solely focused on X for now.
