It will be a great game, and millions of people that played the last one won't buy it. It's not worth buying a console to play it. Smart move CD.
"but for some of us that bridge is burnt to the ground." - they burned it for me as soon as they started focusing on Kinect last gen. It was all downhill from there.
I still can't understand this move. Making it exclusive to a slightly weaker console, and to the console were the first entry had less sales makes no sense to me. Unless MS threw a boat load of cash at CD and continue to do so then Tomb Raider won't stay exclusive for long. Unless MS buy the IP outright from SE of course.
The first game was good, but it's not a system seller. Considering the amount of great exclusives Sony has this wouldn't bother me. Not...
"True" gamer lol!!
I thought UC1 was quality! I enjoyed UC3 as well but the aiming mechanics were pretty screwed up.
A lot of nice exclusives from Sony. I wonder if the new Silent Hill game will be exclusive? The crazy thing is that they are already at 10m consoles sold and they haven't even let the heavyweights out the door; in fact we haven't even seen them. ND are surely working on another IP or a TLOU sequel, as well as UC4 which we haven't seen gameplay of, and we still have yet to see what GG, SSM, MM and Sony Bend are working on. Great times.
@Shawn, gaming isn't the only thing that requires high end video cards. I'm using it to edit and render 4K video footage.
No way will it stay exclusive. The days of big exclusives (especially on a console that is slightly weaker and has far less sales) are coming to an end. I have a feeling MS's business in the console business will go with it. They can't keep turning to third party exclusives to make up sales; especially third party exclusives whose previous entries were multiplat. They should start focusing on their first party studios. That's the big difference between MS and Sony/Nintendo. ...
They would have to ask Sony for Uncharted 4 to do that.
Hugo, SE complain about bad sales of a game that did better on PS, and then they make it MS exclusive. The frustration here is geared towards SE more so than Microsoft. It's also pretty sad that MS has to do this to remain relevant. It's not good for gamers in general.
Dude... Titanfall, Sunset Overdrive, Halo, Gears, Forza, and now Tomb Raider. There's plenty of third party buy ups to go around!
Completely agreed. It must have been a truck load of money. I think it's ridiculous that this game is an exclusive on ANY platform after being available on all platforms for so long. It just doesn't make sense. I also don't think it's a big loss to PS gamers. Sony has better action games, simple as that, and from their first party studios as well. They don't need to buy sales.
LOL! Great way to slice off a massive chunk of sales! Well done SE. No surprises from MS of course. Have to lap up them third party exclusives in order to stay relevant. Didn't help last gen, won't help this gen.
"well I should say last-gen hardware consoles to dust. " - the other end of the stick is that console games generally put PC games to dust. Not all about graphics dude. I'm ordering parts for a new PC next week with a GeForce GTX 780 and I won't be using it for gaming. I prefer the console experience and the vast majority of console games over PC games.
I think it's just that Sony has enough to spread over two different conferences. They had a solid E3 but obviously not as strong as the previous one were they tore MS apart. They will have a solid Gamescom as well. I'd prefer if both conferences had good showings rather than cram everything into one.
I always though it was pretty cool that Havoc was founded by two lecturers from the computer science department in Trinity College. Must have started out as a research project!
That is a lot of money for a company who isn't a traditional gaming company in the sense that Nintendo and Sony are. I wonder what the board are thinking.
"Demands free maps" - lol! The gaming community to a tee. But of entitled little shits. Maybe EA have the right idea, milk them for all they've got, because they buy them regardless of their whining.
The strange reply to themselves...
What the f**k does the original Tomb Raider have to do with this. This is a REBOOT, whose first entry was multiplat. Turning the sequel of the reboot into an exclusive is such a shitty move by CD to the fans who made the reboot successful in the first place.
