I'm expecting a PS3 slowdown when Monster Hunter and DQ10 drop down on the Wii later this year. It might be around the time I pick up a Wii when Sin and Punishment 2, arrives after Punchout.
The question in my head that keeps nagging at me is how FFXIII and Versus's sales affect PS3 sales as compared to the DQ10 and Monster hunters pushing Wii sales. I hope I find out by the end of this year, because I'm dying to play all 4 of those games.
You do know that the PS3 was outselling the 360 for most of 2008, prior to MS making their own price cut, right? For a system that's pretty much tied it's competition even though it's half the price, the 36o hasn't been doing a phenomenal job. For god sake, the PS2 is handing the 360 some decent competition for last place in Japan.
Just like how it took 10 years for Silicon knights to make Too Human, except KZ2 is actually pretty good.
It'd be a real travesty if the 360 couldn't beat the 9 year old PS2 in sales now. I'm sure Sony is just crying out their soul that the PS2 is at 140+ million, but is now losing in monthly sales to the 360. You know another thing 360 beats PS2 at, total losses due to RROD. Go team 360 (-_-);;!
I have Eternal Sonata while having future plans to buy TOV if it's truly confirmed for the PS3. In both cases, like NG Sigma, PS3 owners are getting the definitive better version, regardless of that weak sales argument.
Resistances 8 player co-op, KZ2 graphics; if Sony pulls this off, it'll just be another feather in the cap for what the competition hasn't been able to do other than simple talk.
I'm not really surprised, since psp sales in Japan were about 3.5 million last year, while the NDS had about 4 million units sold. The NDS only took over in the last quarter of '08 when the DSi came out, kind of like the PS3 lead over the 360 until MS made the price cut.
I have to agree though, I'm really looking forward to some of those psp games this year; the two games by Level-5, FF Dissidia, Parasite Eve: 3rd Birthday, Kingdom Hearts birth by sleep, Class of Heroes etc. ...
Sony has Gran Turismo, you numbskull! I hate to break it to you, but GT's lifetimes sales surpass every Halo and GeOW game combined! GT5 prologue has sold what, 1.5 - 2 million units, even though it's just a preview of the full game? Want to make a bet GT5 extends that sales lead further even with Halo Wars and GeOW3 added to the mix?
You moan about Sony every chance you get without it ever dawning on you that Sony has more million unit selling 1st party titles than MS's 1st...
I don't think PS2 needs to do a thing, it's already sold 140+ million units. I'd wait until christmas before saying PS2 won't make a dent in Wii sales, Wii's are going to be notoriously hard to find at christmas, hence a bit of run off to 360 arcade units and PS2's. I agree, though, I'm not sure PS2 at this stage of the game, will have a major affect on Wii sales.
In retrospect, it's really pointless arguing who made what cover system. The important thing is how it's used for each individual game and whether or not there's enough distinction to set it apart from the rest.
I'm sure that even a few KZ2 developers have played GeOW2. I just see this as one developer showing respect for a good game, even though he's a distance off from the competition. Regardless of sales numbers, KZ2 is a good game that only looks to improve when KZ3 come...
KionicWarlord222, you just said the key word. That key word is what a ex-bungie dev "thinks" is possible on the 360. That's a huge difference from actually fulfilling those developer comments.
Even the KZ team couldn't do the graphics exactly like their initial pre-rendered video from several years (amazing graphics nonetheless), so how am I to trust an ex-bungie dev who had nothing to do with KZ2, nor has even seen the actual KZ engine at work?
I really like how Christian Allen mentions in one of his answers, that he wouldn't shy away from a PS3 game now, he could technically join the KZ team and fit in quite well considering the company he used to work for.

@ThanatosDMC
*Clap clap* Well said ThanatosDMC, well said. I sometimes wonder why I come to N4G, but then I remember I enjoy reading some fanboy comments (^_^), some comments are real head scratchers, while some are just LOL funny.
On topic, this article seems the most plausible one I've read all day, but I'm chalking up a veto just b/c it's April's fools day.
@someanimalsdance
Seeing as Lost Odyssey went on 4 disc, I really can't see FFXIII being any less to maintain parity with the PS3 version. I've never been one to believe the PS3 to be uber-powerful compared to the 360, what I see as a major advantage of the PS3 is the blu-ray capacity. Within a year, we'll all be seeing this when Rage and FFXIII come out on multi-disc release for the 360.
I disagree with you on blu-ray not being the next media standard, seeing ...
@Death
The problem with what your saying is many. Firstly, FFXII came in the later half of the PS2 life cycle when every developer knew how to produce games for the PS2. It was never ported to the xbox1, so you have nothing valid for comparison.
Your statement is even more erroneous when you take into consideration that it's no longer just language localization, but proper partitioning of FFXIII over multiple disc for the 360 version. Even SE mentioned that th...
The true irony of it all is the fact Sony are about 10% shareholders of SE, so they make money either way. I'm sure it'll sell fine for MS, my cousin already plans to buy it for his 360. I'm just skeptical about MS's claim it will outsell the PS3 version, especially when you consider that japanese games like RE5 generally sell more on the PS3 worldwide, RE5 (PS3) is still in the top 30 in Japan for sales.
Unlike RE5 though, FFXIII is exclusive to Sony in Japan. Take into c...
@PELVIC THRUST ACTION
Lost Odyssey was on 4 dvd's with fluctuating graphic qualities throughout the whole game. What makes you think MS wouldn't make a concession to multi-disc fees to get FFXIII on the 360? It's certainly not going on 1 disc like GTA4 if FFXIII is going to maintain graphics on par with it's PS3 counterpart.
The options like this for MS, put FFXIII on the 360 at all cost, or risk Sony erasing a good portion of the 360 hardware lead within we...
You do realize that the 360 emulates those xbox1 games via software patches, right? You also know that a sizeable portion of those xbox1 games aren't playable on the 360 b/c MS hasn't bothered to make a patch for those games in question, right?
If you took the time to think about it, you'd see that even recent PS3's still have a PS2 game save icon. What's to stop Sony from having a software patch like the 360 at a later date to emulate PS2 games on the PS3?

The 360 being on multiple disc already tips this in favor of the PS3 version IMO. Considering half of all sales for FF games are in Japan and the fact it'll be out in Japan 6-12 months prior to a worldwide release, I highly doubt SE could afford to Fcuk up the PS3 release of this game.
Seeing as SE will probably release a special edition PS3 like they're doing with FF: Advent children, I can't see the 360 version being better unless SE really did lie about the game engine be...
I thought the iphone was supposed to have better graphics than the psp and ds, so what's so special about a iphone game with psp quality graphics so special?
