I never trusted MS's exclusive claim to begin with. This is just confirmation that MS will have it tough getting any RPG exclusives in the future, unless they put $$$ where their mouth is (-_-);;.

Way to break the "loving" mood of this post buddy! I love my DS lite as much as the next Nintendo fan, but my PSP is my main unit on the go due to it's multi-functionality. The PSP is finally getting some love from 3rd party game companies, so I'm not complaining.

@Mr Nintendo

You really jumped the turtle there on your comments. Regardless of what graphically beautiful game the Wii puts out, it'll be hard pressed to beat the 360 or PS3 in the graphical department. Besides, the reason to play the Wii, is it's a fun system for the casual crowd and is best played in groups of 4.

@sarcasm

Yeah a quality upgraded 2D FFVI would be awesome.

A bit off tangent here, but I just realized the image used for this article was a prelim for FFVII for the N64, before it was scrapped in favor of the PS1 version.

I actually think this item in question (I believe it's official name is Dingoo A320) is kind of neat. You can't see it well on the picture, but it's got an L and R button at the top corners.

It's got a microSD card slot that can take up to 8GB's, so you can expand it's existing 4GB memory to 12GB. The fact that it plays avi files and allows A/V output to the TV is awesome. It's even quite amusing how it has the XMB bar found on Sony products (mp3 player, PS3 etc.).

I've been waiting for this announcement for a while. I like many others doubted the 360 exclusivity of this title b/c of the previous Bandai RPG Eternal Sonata. I guess this pretty much means 360 exclusive RPG's will be quite rare from this point on.

I'll take FFVI any way Nintendo wants to give it to me, however, I do agree that such a classic title doesn't need a huge 3D remake. They could just do some minor upgrades like Chrono Trigger DS.

I'm getting the PSP version if the games any good. It would make for a great game to play on the go.

@Sidar

Are you going to say that the 140+ million PS2's on the market was due to core games/gamers; and not due to more casual gamers and casual titles like Rockband, Guitar Heroes, Singstar, GTA etc.? As I remember, Nintendo fanboys mentioned that the gamecube failed b/c it was geared towards more core gamers, hence the shift towards the casual this gen to sell more home console units.

Seeing as Sony sold 140+ million units to more casual gamers than core, he...

I hope we don't see Sony going completely casual. I don't see it happening though, since the PSP has sold 50 million consoles, mainly to a core audience. Since I believe the PS3 is still within reach of making Sony another 100+ million for home console sales, I highly doubt Sony will fundamentally change too much. Afterall, the PS2 didn't reach 140+ million units in sales by selling to just the core crowd.

I don't think we'll see a huge fundamental difference from the PS4 as a result of the Wii, maybe some more casual games and a new motion sensing controller or a more advanced eyetoy, but that's it. Sony has a electronic division to consider and you can't exactly sell and take advantage of the HDTV division by taking a step back with a less technologically advanced PS4.

Sony has never been advertised to the same group as Nintendo to begin with. Even the classic PS1 was adverti...

That depends on what you consider profit, seeing as RROD has cost MS 1.1 billion dollars prior to the cost of fixing and refurbishing 360's affected by RROD. Nonetheless, I do expect there to be a xbox 720 in the future, especially since I think MS will consolidate some of their losses by closing down their failing Zunes division.

I'm thankful that platinum games has made these comments, it's music to my ears. If they were concerned about making niche titles, that would be one more game company focusing on casual games that I'm less likely to buy.

It's FF sales like this that make me doubt MS's claim that they'll outsell the PS3 for FFXIII. If the N.A market isn't going to support FF on arguably the best selling console so far this gen, who's going to believe MS's FFXIII claim is anything less than absurd?

Woohoo, long live core PS3 gaming! Oh wait, Nintendo Wii still has a huge seemingly unsurmountable lead (-_-);;. Oh well, back to playing my PS3, PSP, NDS and nieces Wii.

I'm not sure if I can completely agree with you, even though I got my NDS 1st this gen. The NDS certainly has some innovative games that I've played and owned like Zelda: the phantom hour glass, Soul bubble and The world ends with you; but Sony has their own unique and innovative games like Down Stream Panic, Loco Roco, Patapon and Crush.

The only reason my PSP has slightly less games than my NDS, is b/c the NDS has more casual crap I'm unwilling to look at like, Horses, Petz,...

On topic, I don't think these current comments from Sony are completely justified, however, it would be true to say that the PSP is a more core based system than the NDS. After all, the NDS being more casual, is the reason why it's sold double the amount of PSP units.

Even though I'm closer to a core gamer, my NDS being the 1st console I bought this gen has given me more games than my PSP at the moment. I'm pretty happy about all the new games for the PSP, however, and if it'...

Considering that Sony has entered the portable console race to take a 1/3 of the market with 50 million units sold to date, while being on target to sell another 100 million unit home console, Sony's really got nothing to be ashamed of.

If anything, Nintendo is attempting to reach 100 million home console units sold for the 1st time, something Sony has already done twice. Assuming the Nintendo Wii reaches 100 million units, they have Sony to thank for expanding the casual mark...

I'd probably hold a grudge if someone broke a promise, but I'm not sure if I'd bother staying mad at Nintendo if I was Sony. If not for Nintendo, Sony wouldn't have entered the race and win the last 2 gens with over 100 million sales per gen.

I think the 360 has some original games, but I think there were some more unique ones for the xbox like Jade empire, beyond good and evil, Indigo prophecy, and Oddworld stranger etc.
