I guess you would agree that recent 3rd party support (NGS2, Bioshock 2, Dead rising 2, Yakuza 3, WKC, Ace combat 7, Katamari, Quantum Theory, TOV etc.) is good for the PS3 then?
I think it's more important to note 3rd party titles are on the rise for the PS3 and these sales numbers will just reinforce a more solid base of 3rd party support. As long as the games keep rolling out on the PS3, nothing else matters IMO.
@soxfan2005
I care for NG2, b/c the PS3 version gets extra stages, playable characters and online co-op so I can play with my brother. Whether or not I'd care for GeoW3 is a different story, it'd really depend on whether or not GeoW1+2 were available.
@onijutsu
We'll only know when the PSP2 is out, maybe it'll be middle of the road at PS2.5. As long as it has dual analog, I'm completely down with that (^_^).
Of course Nintendo is a game company, that's stupid question (-_-);;. The better question would have been "what type of game company is Nintendo?".
Your absolutely right, Kotaku is definitely not pro-PS3, that's for certain. I've been on Kotaku on a regular enough basis that I've noticed the site does certain thinks that purely disregard/shaft the PS3 or Sony in general.
For instance, when Quantum theory was announced as an exclusive game, they neglected to mention it was for the PS3, even though other sites (N4G included), clearly state it (-_-);;. Don't even get me started on their sales articles, like the ones where...
I've got a NDS lite and PSP-2000, so neither Sony nor Nintendo are losers to me. How someone can call Sony taking a 1/3 of the handheld market a failure, is just baffling if you ask me (^_^);;.
I can see an easy fix for Sony in the next gen:
PS4: more RAM and larger capacity blu-ray
PSP2: Handheld PS3 with dual analog sticks ---> PSP problem solved (^_^).
I'll buy blu-ray for all the recent movies that I really like/love, while buying other movies that I didn't mind on DVD for cheap. I've been stuck at episode 4 of Terminator: The Sarah Connor chronicle season 1 (blu-ray) for 3-4 weeks now, haha...damn work (>_<)!
I've been following the price of blu-rays for a while now and I've noticed that blu-rays generally release at a few dollars above the price point of 2 disc special edition DVD's (assuming there is a special ed.)...
@Omegasyde
The PSP2 may very well be a handheld PS3, like the PSP is a handheld PS2. Thinking of the prospect of a handheld PS3/PSP2, makes my bladder weak (^_^).
Sweet, I was really disappointed when I heard xseed ditched Muramasa, but now all is good. A few more titles and I'll see myself purchasing a Wii (^_^). Now if we could get someone to bring over Fatal Frame 4, it'd be icing on the cake.
@Morbius420
I don't care for most DLC, so your comment has no bearing on me. Secondly, most average gamers go into a store with no knowledge that DLC is/will be available when buying their games. How would average players even know about DLC, seeing as it's not advertised on most game packaging?
About the only way someone can find out about DLC, is to either look in a game magazines (that have falling readership each year), or go to an online site like N4G, kot...
@Sidar
No prob Sidar (^_^), I see where your coming from about multi-platform games. I haven't had my eyes clouded over by fanboy miasma to see that most multi-platform games, if not all of them, generally sell the same. Generally, I just pick up the multi-platform games I want (RE5, Deadspace etc.), shrug my shoulders and give a big "Meh" at sales charts that tell me they sell roughly the same.
I don't really care for DLC, but to each their own. As ...
Hopefully, the rest of the MGS are a work in progress for the PSN. If they are, it gives me hope that FF8 and FF9 might make it to PSN as well.
@pyscho360
I have to agree with Murkerr, minor graphical differences will not affect gameplay nor does it seem to give either Sony or MS an advantage for day 1 multi-platform titles, that generally sell the same on both platforms.
A large library of great titles means little if they're not recent titles of interest to the general gaming populace either. Most gamers aren't going to be looking for older titles as their main reason to buy, it's generally newer titl...
Traveller, I agree with your comments on graphics being important. It's a great thing when graphics for a game are so beautiful, they completely immerse you in their world.
I don't think the PS3 has reached its upper threshold yet, b/c games that came out at the end of the PS2 life cycle were amazing like KH2, GOW2, Odin sphere, Shadow of the Colossus etc. I'm just happy that some amazing graphical games have reached us so early in the PS3 life cycle (Heavenly Sword, Folklore...
@1.15 Lifendz
If you get Castlevania: Dracula X for the PSP, it has SOTN as a bonus game. Mind you, SOTN has to be unlocked before you can play it. Nonetheless, it's worth the purchase if you have the PSP b/c it's pretty cheap on the greatest hits line.
I don't really care if 3rd party companies aren't using the PS3 to it's full potential (due to multi-platform games being made to be the same), as long as Sony keeps 1st party titles moving along.
I don't hate the Wii, but it does need more titles of interest to me before I consider it worth picking up. About 10 solid titles would push me to pick up a Wii.
I've never had a problem with Nintendo handhelds (except for the Virtual Boy ---> That was a really bad idea (-_-);;). I do hope they have a larger capacity media for the next Nintendo handheld, though, something like an high capacity SD card (assuming they stick with cartridge-based media for their next handheld...
@ 2.2 sidar
I'd generally agree with you on DVD-9's not being an issue affecting games as long as there's multiple disc to compensate. The problem, however, arises when you take into consideration the game Rage coming out by Id.
It's known facts straight from John Carmack and Id that confirms the Rage game has been fundamentally changed (multiple dunes switched to 2 large dunes, 3 races changed to 2 playable races in the game) in order for the game to fit on 2...
@MercWithAmouth
Maybe Nergardless was referring to the additional wait time for porting FFXIII to the 360 as a reason to be upset?
