This is the problem with early impressions, not only is the game a year away, and therefore has plenty of time for polish; but the devs obviously need to hold back from revealing everything in the game, if not it spoils the finished experience.

At this point we know very little about how the story is going to play out, we also don't know about things like post game content, i.e. things to when when you complete the main story. We don't know how far reaching the cho...

Not true, the game will be at E3.

Based on the article from Eurogamer and also the "leaked" 4K screenshots of Days Gone, there will be a playable demo of the game at E3. It was the E3 version of the game that Eurogamer previewed - https://www.eurogamer.net/a...

The question is will it be 'new' gameplay or the same ...

Definately. I think sony might have already won E3 this year. They have all the momentum right now.

Eurogamer and others needs to take note - this is how you write an informative article without inserting personal bias and pretentions of superiority. Just tell us about the game, we don't care about your personal views on the state of open world games or about your zombie fatigue.

Anyway, I'm loving everything I hear about this game, if Sony Bend are able to really capitalise on the different enemy types and allow the player to use enemies against each other, then ...

Coming 2018? So I guess that'll be for the holidays then. I just hope the learning curve isn't too steep.

People really need to leave this guy alone. There is nothing worse than toxic SJW's that can't see beyond their own ideology, thinking that they are waving some flag, not realising that all the while they are becoming more and more toxic and borderline neo-fascists.

Truth is not everyone has to agree or support your religion if they don't want to; and not every one has to agree with or support your favourite political party if they don't want to; nobody has...

Come on guys, it's a no brainer. Do we have to start a petition?

I'm still grinding gear in Niflehiem and Musphelheim so I can take down those pesky valkyries. It would be sweet to be able to go through the game again with Epic gear on NG+.

C'mon please make it happen.

Yeah, we definitely need a new genre definition for these type of games. Something that's better that "interactive movie". How about - Interactive-narrative-third- person -action-adventure?

I'm sure someone can come up with something better :))

I hope this inclines Sony Santa Monica to make story DLC for this game. There are enough realms locked off, so at least one could be opened up for DLC and use the others for the inevitable sequel. Heck I wouldn't mind them going back to Alfheim and fleshing out the story of the elves. I'd love to know more about what that war was bout and how it fits into the wider lore.

I thought the review embargo lifted on Thursday? In any case 9/10 is a good start. I've already got this game on pre-order so I don't care about the reviews.

Edit:
Although I do take issue with the assertion that Beyond Two Souls was a "failure." It wasn't at all, it was generally well received critically, and sold over a million copies within 12 weeks of it's release. Why do you think Sony let David Cage and Quantic Dream make another &qu...

When God of War was releasing, everybody said oh it's just trying to be The Last of Us, and it was nothing at all like TLOU. Same with Days Gone, it's just lazy thinking and lazy journalism.

I think Days Gone is being unfairly judged, developers are still making open world games (Far Cry 5 broke sales records), and developers are still making zombie games (a new The Walking Dead game), and developers will still make open world zombie games State of Decay 2), and wh...

It always baffles me why sites like Eurogamer (Polygone as well) will send the guy who doesn't like open world games to go a preview/review and open world game? Or send the lady who's not into RPGs to go review an RPG.

Then instead of gamers learning more about the game, all we hear is how that particular person is fed up of the said genre, and how they were bored or whatever. Well no s**t Sherlock, it's not your thing. If you send me to preview/review a cricke...

^^exactly

Take God of War for example, I've spent just as must time post-credits trying to find and defeat all the Valkyries, as I did in the main story. There's no way to get a good average playtime for a game like that, because there will be people who won't ever finish the game, then there will be those who will finish the story and never touch the game again - but for who the cost-per-hour is not diminished at all. Then you have completionist guys like me wh...

I completely understand and agree with what you're saying, but it still comes down to how 'value' is defined in this case. The very statement "cost-per-hour" presumes in the first case, an objective monetary value.

A game like The Order 1886 was derided because despite it's graphical prowess, voice acting, motion capture and narrative, etc. it was widely criticised for not offering enough 'value-for-money' as it was only a 5 hour game which...

Sony allows cross platform play with DCUO, Paragon, Street Fighter V, Eve Valkyrie, War Thunder, etc etc just to name a few. So your statement that they have an "anti-gamer stance" is provably false.

When Minecraft went cross-platform on the Switch it emerged that because Microsoft now own the IP, Nintendo Switch players needed an Xbox Live account in order to sign in. Why? Is that not "anti-gamer?" At the very least it could be considered as MS monopoli...

I'm really not sure what MS can do to win E3. Maybe a price cut?

Doesn't socialism inevitable lead to fascism? You know, to keep the masses in line and ensure that every conforms? And conformity is the enemy of freedom.

2973d ago 3 agree2 disagreeView comment

Yeah cost-per-hour is a terrible metric for "value", for a ton of reasons; primarily because the "value" a person gets from a gaming experience is subjective - obviously.

I would not be able to put a value on my experience of playing Metal Gear Solid for the first time. How do you put a value on experiencing Rapture in Bioshock. What is the value of playing The Last of Us and getting to the end and witnessing That scene between Joel and Ellie. Or playing...

I remember the cross play between PC and PS4 in Paragon (RIP), but the two communities didn't really get on well with each other, PC players were always complaining about PS4 players and vice-versa.

2973d ago 5 agree0 disagreeView comment

Sony are capitalising on their massive sales lead and don't want that diluted with cross-platform play. It's a strategic marketing decision, as we know that most game sell better on the PS4.

In other words, Sony don't really need cross platform play, as it serves them no advantage.
