You can't really 'tack-on' gameplay for Kinect, you have to develop the whole game around the tech, there are so many constraints with existing games, that it is easier to just build a game from the ground up for Kinect. The problem is that so far, the games for kinect are all super casual.

For Move however, I can see more developers implementing Move support with existing games. Apart from the casual line-up, the 'hardcore' games have Move support as an...

A mate of mine only plays Fifa 10 and MW2! He refuses to play anything else. He won't play Dead Space, Red Dead, Uncharted 2, GOW3, Infamous, Assassins Creed - 'cos he "doesn't like 3rd person games!" I've even tried getting him to play COD4, Killzone3, and other FPS to no avail.

I really just don't get it, am I some superhardcore gamer? or is he just a wierd type of casual gamer?!

Exclusive or not, if FFvXIII repeats the same mistakes as FFXIII, i.e. linearity, no towns etc etc, it'll bomb, and SE cannot affrod that. FFXIII had so much bad press, that FFvXIII has no choice but to surpas it if it hopes to be succesfull. I hope Wada allows Nomura to fully realise the vision for FFvXIII, and not gimp it because of sales (which is a huge temptation).

Multiplatfor development is the way to go for 3rd party developers, we have to live with that now, bu...

have you seen the line up of up-coming PS3 games for the next year? even if Alan Wake did come to the PS3, it would be at the bottom of a long line of PS3 games. Don't need Alan Wake for the PS3, we already have more games than we have time to play.

But thanks for the thought though!

but it's obvious that it would be easier for Devs to implement Move support in new and/or existing games, than it would be for Kinect. There are a slew of upcoming 3rd party games such as Metal Gear Rising, Dead Space 2, The Force Unleashed 2, where Move implementation can easily be done without significant demand on developer resources. Already we have Toy Story 3, Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition, Dead Space Extraction, Time Crisis Extraction etc etc, and these are just the 3rd party develo...

M$ on the other hand have not! They are both riding on the coat tails of Nintendo to be sure, but Sony puts out tech that works, they have demonstrated it's potential time and time again. Furthermore developers are embracing the tech and are able to innovate beyond what the Wii did. The same cannot be said for M$ and Kinect. So yeah the company to be called out here is indeed M$ and not Sony, becaue Sony has demonstrated that its tech works. And they are not making bloated promises about ...

...anything else is just trying to ride Nintendo's coat tails! However at the moment it seems that M$ will not even be able to break through the failures of the Eyetoy - even with it's new 3D camera. If the casuals didn't swoon for the hands free gaming offered up by eyetoy, what is being offered now above and beyond, that would make them stick with Kinect?

For Sony at least it's hardcore demographic will be supported, and the install base for Move will fin...

Keep hanging on to those M$ promises... I'll be scheduling the next few hardcore games for Move that I'm going to be purchasing during the next quarter!

What made old skool gaming fun, were the games that defined that generation. Games like pac-man, and space invaders and the slew of other games that grew from these. The fact is these games were hardcore games, anyone who went into an arcade with a handful of coins to play games was a hardcore gamer. It was the old skool hardcore gamers who propagated the gaming industry of old.

What kinect does not have, that the old skool had, is a list of compelling games - either for t...

None of the developers gave any examples of innovative ideas which are only capable on the Kinect system. Kinect needs to come up with gameplay that is not possible on the PS2, Wii, 360 or PS3!

That would be true innovation.

However the fact that in all the years Kinect has been in development, the only innovative thing M$ has been able to demonstrate is a Dance game! All the other games shown are far from innovative, and actually have all been seen befor...

I completely agree with you, if Kinect has soo much potential 'in the future' why are they releasing it now?

5) Sports Champions
4) Ruse
3) Time Crisis Rising Storm
2) Socom 4
1) Sorcery

Sorcery gets the number one spot, because it is the only original AAA game title which looks to have been built from the ground up with Move in mind.

Honourable mentions:

3) Heavy Rain
2) Resident Evil 5 (Gold)
1) Killzone 3

To these games seem to have had Move support shoe-horned in, an...

Lots of franchises that have been forgotton, and I lay the blame squarely on the shoulders of the FPS genre. Where are our Space flight sims, Privateer... Wing Commander... elite... etc etc. What happened to the whole Mechwarrior series as well? God sims like Populous, Megalomania, Black and White.

I honestly think the video game industry has become infatuated with FPS, TPS that it has forgotton long lost gems. Are the gamers to blame, or teh game developers?

Ok I have to admit, I don't play MW2 anymore, I completed the SP game, and never bothered much with the MP. But I have to confess I'm strangly draw to CoD:Black Ops like a moth to a flame.

What is it about hype, I know it's the same iteration but just in a (slightly) different setting, I also know that I'm probably not gonna bother with the MP side of the game either, but somehow... somehow.. I know I will buy Black Ops!!! But WHY? I dunno, guess I can'...

personally I have bout 4 DualShock 3 controllers. The PS3 (and 360) come with one controller! Did anybody moan about this, it is a foregone conclusion that the console is packaged for 1 individual. If that individual requires additional controllers they'll haver to purchase however many they need separately. This has been the norm since the last 2 console generaltions.

It's a redundant argument at best to diminish the quality of the motion controller because you wou...

It's not PS3 fans that have a probplem with Kinect. It's informed gamers in general who are able to recognise when they are being sold duff tech! unfortunately on N4G anyone who makes such comments is labelled a PS3 fanboy. I really don't understand why people would defend a piece of technology that has been proved time and agian that falls short in what it was supposed to be!

You obviously didn't read or didn't understand my comment!!! I couldn't careless whether or not you can discuss whatever email you were sent by M$. Read my post again... you are obviously one of the 'diehards' that I am talking about. And you are begining to do exactly what I said Microsoft wants you to do - damage control and viral marketing. Damn some fanboys are just so blinded by console fanaticism they can't see the wood for the trees!

The fact ...

Hope they fix the lack of a 'lock-on' feature from the first game.

I bet that if this is legit, Microsoft are trying to blow more smoke and mirrors up gamers a$$. Viral marketing at it's best - Get a few 360 diehards and try and get them to use word of mouth to turn the tide of bad publicity Kinect has been getting. What do they hope to do in 4 months... it's not as if they can 'patch' kinect!
