Considering we won't need to use it in 95% of the games, it will still be a welcome option (key word: OPTION) for games that do require it. For what I've seen, the first candidates could be Fallout 3 and the sequel of Mass Effect. No more long loading times for heavily loaded games. Texture pop-up will be dramatically improved too.
Being this a sales article, I assume you're trying to say that MGS4 will sell more than say, Gears of War 2?
I would honestly bet money right now on that this will not happen. Gears 2 will be the best selling game released this year. But that's just one game, whereas in MS side, there are plenty more.
I'm eager to see the August + sales figures.
This belongs to the first half of the year though.
We'll see what happens when Gears 2, Fable 2, Too Human, Banjo and multiple OS upgrades do the talk =)

Sony said 2008 would be the year of the PS3 and at the current state, it's pretty hard to believe this will happen.
When I hear about Sony's 2009 lineup, it's as if everything looped once again:
Act 1: Sony taunting early release dates for a bunch of heavily hyped games.
Act 2: They slowly build strong hype around their lineup for next year.
Act 3: Microsoft remains silent and focuses on current year material.
Act 4: Eventually, Sony get some import...
Probably if you're a hardcore Nintendo Fan, or an RPG Lover without an Xbox 360.
For us Xbox 360 owners, this one was one of the best E3 Microsoft has held. Gears 2 looked groundbreaking, Fable 2 much, much better than expected (and showed in previous builds) Banjo Kazooie very entertaining and the demos of the multiplatforms Fallout3 and Resident Evil 5 were shown under Xbox 360 and ran great.
A completely overhauled dashboard awaits for us this year with the excell...
At a software level, some kind of "inspiration" is also taken from different developers. I was impressed of how much that huge monster in Resistance 2 resembles the Brumack of Gears of War 2... but bigger. Many have also pointed in the direction of COD4 after playing Killzone 2 and when Sony announced DC Universe online in this show, I couldn't help thinking of the Marvel Universe Online announcement back in 2006... exclusively for the Xbox 360.

They might be a bit too harsh on Killzone 2. However, multiple reports from E3 indicate that while pretty, the gameplay itself is way too predictable (aka uninspired) and that they need to work hard on it.
Please Guerrilla, don't dissapoint Sony fans. You're basically the biggest bet for the next year.

Microsoft is winning by a rate of 2:1 in this Conferences War.
Microsoft announced a bunch of great features with a FIXED release date. Unlike Home, which only God knows when is coming out, Avatars, parties and a brand new dashboard is scheduled for THIS FALL on the Xbox 360.
Sony announced an online video rental system, something that Microsoft also has, but with a strong partnership with Netflix, unlike Sony.
Microsoft also announced a very nice, not very talked about feature: Game installations for everyone. Yes, for those 2%...
They bragged a lot about having the most powerful console and the best content. Unfortunately for Sony, they didn't show how.
That conference closing left a lot to be desired. 2 CGI trailers, one coming from rather unknown developers. It's good to try new horizons but you can't close an E3 with that!!

DC Universe: Looking rather. The Animations and visuals overall need a lot of work. The guy really hyped it a lot before presenting the game.
Resistance 2: What the hell happened to the visuals? Or was it my streaming? It seemed as if it has serious problems with textures. I could be wrong though, it was probably the poor streaming.

MAG looks awesome in numbers, but the trailer was algo CGI. And they closed the conference with that one...
I'm personally very underwhlemed by this year's Sony performance.

THe Biggest Blow ever to the Playstation 3. Hands down... Bigger than Assassin's Creed's and DMC4.
No sku is receiving a price cut. The 20GB model is being discontinued and retailers will sell it for $250 until the stock is gone.
There's a big difference between a model discontinuation and a price cut. Should be big enough for anyone to see it... that is... but some - add adjective here - guys.

Gears of War 2 steals the show. I was doubtious at the begining but after this E3 show, I believe Gears 2 will fight head to head with MGS4 and GTAIV for Game of the Year.
