The sooner these android/ios consoles die off the better. Everyone wants in because they're so easy to make.
That article is so badly written, I thought it was put through an internet translation service, but no, the author is an American journalism graduate.
" What can however be concluded safely is that in the US, the PS4 would have either an early or a late release."
Agreed, thats a pretty safe bet, lol.
Correction: *hUMA (typing on smartphone)^^^
Not in the same way (Xbox isn't using hSA/uMA).
@Foxgod @ Nocando
The way the PS4 does it is completely different.
A conventional CPU writes to CPU memory, that data is then moved to the gpu's memory pool, the gpu processes the data and the processed data is stored on the gpu's memory pool whilst waiting to be moved back to the main memory again.
PS4 has a unified memory pool, both the CPU and GPU can access ALL the data directly. This isn't currently possible on any PC anywher...
The point of the site is simply to exist. That way Nintendo have to pay big for the domain name. It strengthens the new owners claim to that domain.
@Nukeitall
A trademark is for a particular product. If you called a new car 'wiiu', it wouldn't be affected by the trademark. Nintendo let the domain name license expire and were too slow to act on re-establishing it. Well played to whoever took it, should be expecting a fat cheque soon (or a team of ninja-monkey assassins may visit you in your sleep).
I remember the 'Apache Gunship' series on c64 and Amiga used to generate a new map and set of missions every time you played it. It's good to see it being incorporated in a modern game as it used to extend the replay length by years. I don't know why it isn't used more.
O.T. I'm intrigued by this game, I hope it delivers some terrifying new gameplay experiences.
@jeffgoldwin
Poor soldering only tends to 'let go' when things overheat. This is what would happen with the YLOD. I have fixed many PS3's, with the earlier ones the fan tends to stop working at the faster rate, with the newer versions they generally have poorly applied thermal paste. Both problems end up causing the system to overheat which softens the solder to the point that it breaks away from the component. But the point is they have to get very hot for this t...
Thats what they're aiming for anyway! You've only seen the early builds.
It's an entirely different market.
These are designed to mop up the casual market who moved to tablets after buying Wii's in their millions.
Yeah, I was looking at the Pippin stats on the Apple archive the other day. Worth a chuckle. Those things must be like hens teeth, they only sold 40,000 of the 100,000 they made.
If you look at the joypad, it resembles the 'batarang' PS3 concept pad, but has a tracker-ball on one side. This is something I would like in a controller, speed and accuracy of a mouse if implemented correctly, (they can be awful otherwise).
Well at least there's the touchpad now...
But it still doesn't work properly (like a 'headset' would). Noise-cancellation on kinnect was really poor IMO, you did hear 'fights and sirens' in the background.
@Corpser
I kind of agree, to some extent, but the problem is, when Sony became 'arrogant' they had a much larger market share than Microsoft. Now that Microsoft have taken arrogance to a whole new level, will they be able to withstand the same percentage loss as Sony did with PS3? If Microsoft lost 50% of its installer-base, they'd have ~40million.
Whilst that is enough to keep a platform alive and healthy, I fear Microsoft may not want to settle...
Who disagreed with my last post? Lol. I guarantee you there will be bogus lawsuits popping up all over the place. Read the history of such devices.
Unfortunately people sniff out easy money. If I say this gives me migraine headaches and I've never suffered from them before using the rift, how are you going to disprove that?
I really would like this to succeed, I honestly do have faith in the tech, but my faith in human nature is not strong.
I find that hard to believe, you didn't read the article I take it?
@Ausbo
All your X360 Peripherals won't work on Xboxone. Some may work via a proprietary device made by Microsoft. That is the big issue in the article that has annoyed people more than the kinect anti-hacking protocols.
Try reading before blindly defending!
Thats a big 'if' though. I have high hopes for this device, and have heard nothing but praise for it, but I have a long enough memory to recall when numerous other such 3D immersive systems were brought onto the market with similar fanfare only to suddenly be swept under the carpet when prolonged usage leads to nausea, headaches, black outs etc. Even if the tech works perfectly, you could end up with people getting a form of P.T.S.D from playing Battlefield for 5 days straight.
Hopefully with the PS4's ease of development, it won't take them so long to release their games. But then it is Polyphony Digital so...........nah
To be honest, if they were giving them away I'd have to debate whether or not it was worth the fuel to get to the store. I just don't see anything that interests me on this console. Sorry, but I can't be the only one.
New machines are supposed to 'blow you away' in some way, you're supposed to think "wow thats amazing, I want one". I'm not necessarily talking graphics, just something, anything. Remakes of old games in HD just don't cut it.
