For gaming in general DD isn't the norm, true, but on PC it is.
Thing is, consoles have never really had to go the route of DD. Since they have the biggest market, they set the "norm". Perception is reality.
I grant that its an overstatement but its not outright false either.
As to the rest of the article, it just highlights the weaknesses of the current gen consoles as a reason to not have them. Which is kind of ridiculous on...
@joeorc
I commend you for actually having a dialog and stating your case. I mean that.
But you are wrong. Intel mobos are a non-issue in gaming. And, well... I can't really top LightofDarkness's reply, so I won't try.
"like I said before you can use Steam in offline mode, yes you need to be online once to set it to offline mode, you don't need to be online ever again after that."
This isn't correct. If you lose connection while its running Steam automatically goes into offline mode. On start up, it asks if you want to go offline or try again. Having to go online to go offline was fixed a while ago.
I believe in general the "cool" factor for guns needs to be taken down a couple notches. But its not just games, its all media IMO.
That said, watch an action movie from the 80's. Times have changed for movies. Games are following the same course IMO. Emphasizing other ways to solve problems with out guns. It takes time.
No. BioWare would be a lot better off working on a new IP in their proven style.
At this point in time they haven't lost all, or really even a majority, of their fanbase. If they stick with ME and DA they may end up doing more harm than good.
BioWare is one of the few companies that can release a new IP with a lot less risk. As long as they do change the style and genre of the gameplay too much, they can really choose whatever story they want to tell.
After a couple month break I'm back to being addicted to Skyrim. The amount of content (on PC) is just staggering. It really doesn't surprise me at all that its still full price (60$) on Steam. Its more than worth it too. If you don't have it, get it (on PC).
Disappointing maybe, but didn't make me turn the game off.
I would guess most gamers just didn't care that much about the story to hate it.
IMO it wasn't the best story ever told but it wasn't a game breaker for me.
So because a few people make a ridiculous petition, all gamers are entitled whiners?
"The stench of entitlement wafting off the games community these days is disgusting."
This line here directly follows the posting of the petition. It makes no attempt to be specific, and just insults the entire community.
I think this petition is beyond silly. So much so its barely news worthy. But this article is far worse. It spends more time hurl...
Not sure why people disagree. Would like to hear why.
But yea, AA was a recruitment tool. Which is apparently what this is intended to do as well.
What's stupid is the complete misunderstanding of the 2nd amendment.
But it doesn't matter anyway. Nobody is coming after peoples guns and Congress has its collective head so far up its a** that nothing will get done anyway.
Games are considered protected speech so nothing will happen to them either.
At the end of the day, nothing will change.
Gaming isn't philosophy, its entertainment. Entertainment that costs money. If a gamer is content with a single console are they hurting themselves?
It might be strange, but to me, none of the console exclusives are worth the price of its system.
@DigitalSmoke
That you even used the word intelligence in that jumble of words is just wrong, on so many levels.
That someone agrees with you is worse, that means there's 2 of you.
OT: Its not like most gamers will be getting this for the MP, so they might as well not put up any barriers to it.
There is actually nothing known about it. Other than it being a heavily cinematic TPS. The characters aren't going to be the same. I wouldn't be surprised if the name was changed as well.
Was 007 ever really alive to begin with? Yea Goldeneye was great, but its greatness had very little to do with the Bond franchise. I think it needs a chance, so I'll disagree with that one.
The demo wasn't even the actual game. It was really early in development at E3 and I suspect it was debuted that early to assist in the sale of LA. Its a long way off. late 14 early 15 is my guess.
@bryam1982
Seriously, stop. You aren't very smart. You should worry a little less about gay people and more about grammar.
Also, you sound extremely insecure.
What does it say about men when its assumed we can't look beyond or see something more than a scantily clad fem-bot?
Yea, sex sells, when it comes to males. But not all of us are like the moron above me. We are capable of seeing very different things. We are willing to be challenged.
I studied 3d animation so I was too busy looking at the CG. Beyond that, I saw a story that I wanted to know more about.
Define irony.
DD is pretty much the norm, on PC. Nobody says that because they hate consoles, its just a perception.
There was a point where I assumed it was the norm, but I don't have a console. It may be ignorance on our part, but you have to understand, for many PC gamers gaming completely digital. With the stores carrying fewer and fewer boxed PC titles we really didn't have a choice.
At any rate, you are right, its generally not the norm currently. Doesn'...
