Sounded to me like Gabe was talking more about in home streaming and the "Steam box" being just one part of Valve's project.
I don't think the intent was to make a console like MS and Sony.
@ravinash
There are people that believe the Earth is 6000 years old. Many people believe in crazy stuff, that doesn't mean they're murderers.
There are also crazy parents that produced good kids.
Foremost though, she shouldn't have even been able to buy an AR-15. Civilians have no business owning assault rifles designed to kill human beings.
I also think all media, even video games, have made guns far too popular...
What I am saying is people tend to think its as easy as talking to your kids or just setting a good example and its really not that easy.
The quality of parenting has limits. Horrible parents don't always produce bad children just like good parents don't always produce good children. The problem is we tend to overly examine everything a parent does so we can find answers to tragedies.
The only thing worse than losing my son in a tragedy like SH would...
Pardon me, I was unaware you were privy to such an insight into this family.
Are you really going to tell me this mother had any clue her son (who had high functioning autism) would go to an elementary school and shoot a bunch of 5 and 6 year olds? Are you high?
She may have made mistakes, but I'm willing to stop short of laying this tragedy at her feet until I know more. Not like she hasn't paid a big enough price already.
and &quo...
No, we should support parents.
While there are some horrible parents in the world, the vast majority do the absolute best they can.
The perfect parent doesn't exist and they don't have have absolute control over their kids.
Parenting a normal healthy child is hard enough without having folks waiting to judge them for anything their kids might decide to do.
Its a thankless job but parents do take responsibility for t...
I'm going to assume /sarcasm.
No it really doesn't. Indoctrination theory was the psychological breakdown caused by ME3s fail of an ending. Nobody really cares if FC3's story sucked.
I really doubt the "steambox" will be those Xi3 PCs. I don't think they are even powerful enough to run games.
Who played FC3 for the story? Really? Did anyone rational gamer actually think that FC3 was going to be a milestone in video game storytelling?
It really doesn't matter if the story is great or it sucks, its not that important to begin with. And if you bought it expecting some epic story, that's your problem.
I personally thought the narrative served its purpose.
Totally fine as long the opinion is logical.
Not wanting gays to infect others through the internet is an opinion that has NO value.
And yes he should have been banned for being ignorant troll.
Calling homosexuality a disease when its NOT does not make the argument more valid. Oh! but he said they were "nice", so that must make him less of a bigot. Right.
Not wanting to be "infected" by "gayness" through a computer game (because that's totally possible) is not a rational opinion that deserves to be heard. Its idiocy.
I agree that developing hyper-realism is a waste of time and money. Especially so considering the tech is a LONG way from tricking the human eye. I am talking about digital human characters, not landscapes, objects, or animals.
Still images and movies are able to be convincing by virtue of having much more control over the perception of the viewer. But even movies are limited in what they could show before the audience knows its a digital character.
Basical...
Did I miss the "ME3-style" outrage at FC3?
Its just really funny to someone so out of touch with reality.
Thing is, FC3 could afford to have a crap story, ME3 couldn't.
Few games have a passable story, let alone really good ones. And the few that are really good, the story is the only component worth a damn.
Yeah, the story sucks, but who really expects a game like FC3 to have a deep narrative? To focus the valuable time their allotted for a secondary component? Some people just need to check their standards.
Really? A rich douche with magic tats saving the day ruined the experience? Because that's the most over-the-top...
Russian Sci-fi is great. 2033 is easily one of the top 5 best looking games to date. If you can't warm to last light you need your head examined. (unless it just bombs out of the gate.)
"PCars lighting looks good but it sufferes from the same problems Forza 4 has."
Its still in alpha.
Granted GT5 is very impressive, but AO is much tighter in PC.
In no way did I notice any over-the-top-shiny-cartoony look in any of those screens. Some low res textures and some environments that need work, but like I said, its in alpha.
At a glance maybe. Anymore than that and you can see the lighting in PC is more advanced.
GT5 also cost $80 mil to develop, and I doubt PC will get anywhere near that.
Having launch day issues are one thing, releasing an incomplete title and saying its complete is quite different.
Had they been honest none of this would have happened. That they were already doing MTs and charging full price was pretty suspect.
WarZ's problems have very little to do with customer naivete and very much to do with the devs not being up-front and honest about their product.
10. Duke Nukem
9. Dishonored
8. Onimusha
7. Bulletstorm
6. Dino Crisis
5. Skyrim
4. Killzone
3. Devil May Cry
2. Assassin's Creed
1. Metal Gear Solid
I would say none of those should be movies even though some have very strong narratives.
For instance, MGS probably shouldn't be made because in all likelihood it would getting too much of a "western" treatment and end up...
You are thinking in console terms. Which is why I think there has been a bit of a misunderstanding about what Valve's intentions really are.
I may not buy a Steam Box but I am interested in streaming a game in my living room from my rig.
Who would want to develop for it? Well all the developers who don't develop for consoles, I imagine.
Development for the PC is more attractive than many seem to think. Even for multi-plat games. Sky...
