Really the industry as a whole takes it consumers, gamers, for granted. There are a exceptions, but by and large what happened shouldn't surprising. Gamers are asked to buy on faith and then get shit on by the likes of EA when their game doesn't sell well.
How do you think this would all turn out if critics thought the AC:M was good and the gamers universally hated it? Of all involved with this industry the gamers are the least important. We only matter during the hy...
Personally I would have preferred something a bit more obscure.
Maybe Russia in the 1920's and early 1930's.
This is actually something I always wanted to know too.
It was probably this guy's last review, so he either:
1. Gave a high score so as not to burn any bridges.
2. Completely blew it off and thought it would get around mostly 6/10, 7/10 scores.
3. Decided to make readers suspicious of EGM's credibility on his way out.
4. Or he really thought is deserved a 9/10.
I would be inclined to believe 4 if it weren't for the review itself. I didn't seem to...
@Mutant-Spud
You completely missed my point. I never said anything about hacking.
And its not "self importance" it FACT. In a competitive environment KB&M wins. If it were "antiquated" it wouldn't offer the advantage it does. So yea balance would be an issue.
I was responding to the argument that because the controller is slower and has aim assist that means the KB&M is outdated. Which is a complete fantasy.
Its a mistake to even care really. Bungie's last release on PC was what? Oni? (I don't count the re-release of Halo)
On PC they have precisely no reputation after being MS's b***h all those years. When developers or publishers act this way towards the PC platform, I'm inclined to not even care.
Besides, with Bungie signing on to be MS's temp b****h, its going to be a couple years of waiting before the PC is considered anyway.
I stand corrected.
I was not aware of serious KB&M use on console.
It takes much more skill to drive a shitty car at 230 mph.
The average gamer has MORE precision than their counterpart on console, thus it requires less skill than it does using a controller. That's what advantages do, they assist the less skilled.
That is in fact the reason there is no cross-platform play anymore.
@DarkBlood
Can't argue with beliefs.
Frankly its a coping argument. Its what makes you feel better when you know that KB&M will dust a controller competitively.
Cross-platform play would completely settle the argument right away. Full integration, and online gaming with a controller becomes much less fun. This is fact, and exactly why we don't have it.
If you get "emmersion" from a controller, fine. But...
Hmmm, that's strange. What exactly did they copyright and why?
Blizzard takes this "when it done" crap way too seriously. I'm all for polish, but they take too long.
I'm trying to figure out how Bungie is relevant to the PC.
Everybody has their preference. That's fine.
But here's the thing, just because more people play FPSs on console, which uses a controller says nothing about the KB&M.
Why would a console gamer, playing online with other console gamers, whom are all using controllers want to use a KB&M? There is no reason at all to do that. Everyone is on the same level and comfortable with a controller.
Having said that, I invite Bungie to imp...
@SlapHappyJesus
I guess it was all the talk about people leaving the studio that led to me thinking that. Anyway, thanks for the answer.
I thought Thief was cancelled, or close to it.
I would like to see Deus Ex or Thief.
I thought that myself until I visited this Dwemer ruin. I forget the name, but it exits at Stony Creek cave or something.
Here I am thinking just another ruin, well it really didn't turnout like I expected. Not going to spoil it, but it was a little experience that made damn sure I wouldn't forget why I love Skyrim.
There are very few games I can play over and over. But Skyrim still managed to surprise me after 100 hrs.
My rule of thumb is stay in the "middle". And get a big case.
8 gig is fine. Above that there's not a lot of performance increase.
Got Vista Ultimate (full) from an MS employee for free.(friend of a friend) Then picked up Win 8 upgrade for 70$. Recently got the OEM of Win 7 for 100$ because Win 8 is just plain ugly.
I won't questionably procure otherwise legal software unless there's a good reason.
I actually disagree with number 1. No game is perfect right out of the gate. Providing a free update addressing issues was one of the main reasons they engendered so much goodwill.
But I will acknowledge that the console crowd may not be okay with it. PC gamers have long been used to games having issues from the start and have always been more willing to give the developers time to fix things post launch. Consoles intentionally limit that sort of thing and expect high quality...
