How many AAA quality space combat sims are there?
This isn't some COD clone, its a genre considered unprofitable by big publishers. Even the brilliant minds LucasArts abandoned it.
And considering this game is coming from Chris Roberts, its got a lot going for it.
It was a great example of what not to do.
A "lot of influence" is pushing it. The idea of Trespasser was far superior to the actual game. It didn't pave the way for anything just inspired people to do better with some of its basic concepts like physics play.
This game had fans?!
Having purchased a few Early-Access titles, I can tell you I haven't thoroughly tested any of them. I played them, had some fun, and even offered a suggestion or 2, but it was hardly "paying them to do work".
So what if you pay through kickstarter to get access to an alpha/beta? Like Star Citizen?
Mind you a game like Star Citizen hasn't been touched by major publishers in years. Hell even LucasArts wouldn't touch the Space Combat Sim an...
You are not paying to be a game tester. You are paying to get "Early-Access" to an unfinished game.
A "scam" would be claiming one thing and providing something completely different. Unless you completely lack the ability to "read" then you should have no problem understanding what's involved in early-access games.
I know that:
1. They are not feature complete.
2. Will have bugs and glitches....
This has to be a troll/satirical article, nobody can be this dense, intentionally.
There is a great way to solve this problem though, and its REALLY simple...
Pretend Early-Access game don't exist until they reach full completion. You're welcome.
Who buys an Early-Access game, then is shocked to find out its not finished? Better yet why is an online publication reviewing them in the first place?
I am frankly shocked b...
Still fail to see why Rockstar hasn't said anything about it. Its not like its going to be a huge surprise like a first release. Its a port, hardly something worth being hush-hush over.
Way I see it, either its not coming to PC or it is and Rockstar is being a bunch of douchebags.
Maybe I'll get it on PC, maybe I won't, but teasing for no good reason at all is kind of lame. Especially for those who are eagerly awaiting its release.
Actually, no, they really aren't.
While there is probably better mods out there, I'm kind of partial to the Freelancer mods. Talk about taking an old game a breathing life into it. Were it not for those mods, that game would have been forgotten. They made it into an MMO of sorts, it was crazy.
Valve is one of the few companies that plays the "long-game". They don't do innovation by the quarter. They put something out and just let it grow over time.
These Steam boxes are going the same route. Valve will wait years for it to take hold, just like Steam.
Project C.A.R.S (Community Assisted Racing Simulator)
You are aware that quite a few gamers are actually playing the alpha right now?
@solidboss07
SMS had to make a decision on which gen consoles to bring Pcars. The community wanted PS4 and Xone, so that is what they decided just recently.
Vapour-ware means that nobody has access to what the devs are working on. That is false, as the marketing for the game is done by the com...
Sorry, but why are "Indie" developers restricted to charging 15$ max?
Ohh right, because you can't charge more unless you waste millions on crap.
Also, I suppose that with all the "quality control" the consoles have had, there has NEVER been a single bad game. Yea, I thought not. Moving on.
Got to do something about endless complaining, right? It also doesn't seem very efficient to have Valve moderating ALL the forums.
Sure, it can and probably will be abused at one point or another, but is there any other way to insure relevant discourse? I don't think so. Besides if it does happen some reddit user will find out and the e-rage will commence anyway.
Look at the Planetary Annihilation forums. Thread after thread complaining about the pric...
Then again, that's kind of the risk you take buying sight unseen. Sure, I think the policy needs working on but these gaming nightmares can be avoided by waiting to hear what people think. On more than one occasion I was spared a faulty product by simply glancing at the forums.
Should games work as advertised? Sure. Do they ever? No. We should all be well aware of this. In defense of X-Rebirth and Rome 2, those games are receiving ongoing support.
I rea...
Or they keep games alive a long time. They maintain interest in a franchise that would have otherwise been lost. Plus many other benefits.
Enjoy your vanilla experience. That's thing, its kind of your choice. I and many others believe games are only bettered by modding.
@Bimkoblerutso
Dammit! I disagree with your facts!

They did.
Slightly Mad had enough funding for current gen OR next gen, not both. So they polled the investors on whether they should go next gen now or stick with current gen.
Pretty sure an MMO like ESO wouldn't be able to utilize the free dedicated servers offered by MS.
From a PC perspective it could work, but not with an online store IMO.
Something about charging for extras while paying $15 a month just doesn't sound right. Multiple pay walls just doesn't seem like a good idea.
They probably have a backup, just not anything to use it on. Kinda need a computer to make a game.
