Not really sure why R* is not saying anything about it though.
Because there is no Sony label on it.
@hellzsupernova
1. Why would people need to feel cautious? Is Valve going to just replace your controllers with theirs? Kind of silly.
2. Steam has always been DRM, that hasn't changed. Valve was just patient with gamers. They weren't trying to snatch up the entire market in a year. They took their time and we got used to the idea.
MS just slapped console gamers in the face with it ...
Yes, because gamers are the greatest source of unbiased feedback. (especially here on N4g)
It's not like you are going to somehow change your view on it if I told you it was good. You've already decided to not like it. At least be honest about it, instead of trying sound unbiased when you clearly aren't.
If it didn't come from Sony or MS it it can't exist.
Guarantee if Sony did this, they would would get nothing but praise for it from N4g.
Hack it and do better then. That's what Valve wants you to do. Model your own form factor and see if it works.
Mandatory?
Its not really accurate to apply the console version of exclusivity to what Valve does.
No, it will not be mandatory. It will be hackable so we'll see what people come up with.
@Heartnet
In fact, Valve has been working for many years on new ways to interact with games. Much of it being hardware related. They were testing all sorts of controller concepts.
They were very interested in biometrics being used in games as well.
Valve has been working with hardware for quite a while.
Does Rockstar actually want to support the modding community? I mean GTA 4 was not very mod friendly at all. AFAIK it was never intended to be modded in the first place. If I got it wrong, please tell me.
I see no reason to suggest it would be any different with GTA5. I certainly can't see them taking the Skyrim route with modding. Again, if I'm wrong, let me know.
@SnakePlissken
People still buy PC games at retail stores? Not sure where you've been the last decade but that is old news.
Nobody buys PC games at Fry's because its far cheaper and easier to buy them online (digital or boxed). Thought that was common knowledge, guess you didn't get the memo.
Even if your numbers were correct, which they aren't, that 10k would be profit for them anyways. So, piracy isn't even an issue.
You are a getting a little emotional over this, want a tissue?
You're upset about something you have ZERO interest in.
Alienware is way over-priced.
Plus building one yourself will give you the know-how to fix problems down the line.
I made this mistake twice. Build your own. It will save you twice whatever you are going to pay, I promise.
Nope, not even close.
No, acute lead poisoning is though, but we can't talk about that.
Never heard anything of the sort from the many of gamers playing it right now.
No, Valve has been working on selling and trading games for years now. The problem is Steam is an entirely option service on PC, so the third party has much more control over their libraries. Not the same on the Xone, where you go through MS and only MS.
As for who thought of it first, we'll never know, but Valve was talking about it years before MS debuted the Xone.
Its rather interesting that MS was basically creating a version of Steam for consoles. W...
Its not a demo for "world" physics. Its a demo for soft-body physics on vehicles. In that respect its about as good as you are going to get, with current tech.
They're "honestly" stupid and not better in anyway to critic reviews.
Not a double standard if there are 2 different standards to begin with.
Console gamers and PC gamers have different standards when it comes to digital games.
Now if Sony announced family share you would have a point.
But the problem is that the outcry over what MS was doing was more about the 24hr check and, to lesser extent, its "all seeing eye". No real outrage about family share.
yea, I guess that makes sense. Though at this point they've already made a pretty hefty profit.
