I hope EA doesn't buy them. EA won't put anything new on Steam. Much of Thq's library was using Steamworks and EA can't have that.
The article wasn't about the "doom" of the consoles. The hardware side of console have been out paced. Games advance far faster than Sony and MS can "reliably" put out next gen hardware. Consoles, in their current form, are a bottleneck of sorts. The games aren't going anywhere, but what you play them on will.
Nintendo has very little reason to make a next gen console. It is very reasonable to assume they stick with what they have. Their audience i...
I doubt it will ever be mainstream. It will be popular on handheld devices mainly. Thing is, you can't cut out the hardware side of gaming without consequences. I could see cloud gaming as a great way to offer demos for PC games, where devs and publishers can have more control.
Battlefront 1 and 2 were good but far from great. And don't get me started on LucasArts. Want to know why there is no Battlefront 3? Its because LA was too busy putting out shitty games to bother with anything worth a damn.
WoW owes its success to timing as much as anything else. WoW offered a much more polished and stable experience than all of it competitors and as more people tried it, the more they brought their friends along. Until you were cruising around other MMO's and realized everyone was play WoW. It was a cascade effect.
TOR has the advantage of being both the same and different from WoW. If it produce the same cascade of players it won't matter what game is technically bett...
Ubi-crap earned the hatred of an entire platform. The "best" publisher would have understood how to combat piracy and reward their paying customers. Instead they put out DRM that is not only a FAILURE but causes more problems with paying customers than pirates. And how do they respond? by telling their "paying" customers to stop whining.
The "best" would have found a way. The PC community has had it fair share of knives-in-the-back, but this one...
That's a relief
LOL! Ubicrap as best publisher? really? this has to be some sort of joke.
I wonder what took so long. Im sure there has to be a reason to set aside a company's flagship title. They aren't like Blizzard, which has a ridiculous, decade long dev cycle. I have much love for Valve, but their communication skills are pretty horrible.
Well, if HL3 is indeed on the horizon, then YAY!
Parents should be afraid. They turn children into killers, everyone knows that.
Given the size of this game, I can live with a few bugs and crashes. If they went the Blizzard route our grandchildren would probably be waiting for release. I don't want these titles to have less depth and scope because people demand absolute perfection day 1.
AP had lots of potential. The foundation was solid but the structure built on it was ugly, so to speak. That being the case, I would not call it a bad game. Unfinished and glitchy, sure, but not bad. If any game deserves a sequel, its this one. The potential is there, it just needs a better developer at the helm.
While it makes me gag just thinking about it, Microsoft has had more influence on the games industry than Apple. I don't need to mention the many other companies and people who had more (and better) influence over the years.
My point is, if you were to ask me who had the least influence in games industry, I would have said Apple. Steve Jobs had his successes and he will be missed, but let's not rewrite history crediting him with the advancement of all things tech. Mo...
What is there to be excited about with Doom 4? Sure, I played Doom 1 and 2 when I was a kid and I loved them. But let's face it, Doom was never strong in the story department. The rest is just garden variety FPS. yawn.
On top of all that it will probably be ported to the PC. So I fail to see one single thing to look forward to in Doom 4.
I think its more complex than just; how much violence and gore is portrayed, how much is necessary, and effects on society. I honesty do NOT believe violence in movies and games has had any impact on our culture. The reason is that as the entertainment industry has evolved so have we, the "viewers". A movie can reproduce the taking of a life and we react to it with in the boundaries of the story or context. Make it real and the vast majority of people will react quite differently. P...
First impressions are important. Its the #1 reason I am loyal to steam. The #2 reason is they don't get between me and my game (looking at you MS) and they don't try charge extra for keeping my games longer than six months (looking at you EA)
It was simple, the first impression was great and they maintained it the whole time. I haven't used Origin, but my first impression of EA was them wanting to charge extra to allow me to have the ability to download a game for...
Yea, the QFTE guys have been working on this concept for a long time time. Wonder why this guy didn't mention it. If for no other reason than to point out some differences in the methods, assuming there are any.
But its good news regardless. Now others will take it further and bring back the space sim.
Agreed.
Its odd that people have such reverence for devs like id. Carmack may have his accomplishments but id hasn't been relevant since Doom 3. Honestly, Im not sure I care if id leaves the PC. There will be others to fill what ever void (assuming there is one to begin with) is left behind.
The open nature of the PC means it will never die. The loss of mind-numbingly repetitious bullshit like Gears of War really isn't that big of a loss. I can't...
Obsessing about Pokemon? really? I don't really have a problem with a persons beliefs, but I always find quite ironic when a person/s, of any faith, starts ranting about the negative effects about things like Pokemon. Religion itself has had some pretty negative effects on people who become obsessed with it. Did Pokemon obsessed kids condemn tens of thousands of women (some men) to burn alive for witchcraft? Not saying all people of faith are evil, but talk about the pot calling the kettl...
Nah, it got what it deserved. On its own it was a decent enough shooter, but following RFG, it was a disappointment. It took everything unique about RFG, and instead of polishing the rough spots, scrapped them entirely. Open-world to caves... literally. Geo-mod was rendered useless because of over powered weapons. Ridiculous amount of cutscenes. They wouldn't even allow you turn on the flash-light when you wanted to. The list of horrible ideas just goes on and on.
They tr...
