I may have to buy this game now.
I've simply given up on this. Lost all interest for now. I'll return to it in a few months probably. There's too many glitches and I'm just wasting my time trying to scrape a few dollars.
Agreed. I'd hate to see DD2 go unreleased. And DD has one of the best online communities I've ever seen (the pawn community).
Agreed. Day 1.
"I have thought ryse looks great from the get go."
That's precisely the point - what you saw at the get go doesn't reflect the actual game.
Is anyone who has played this and is not a games' journalist willing to comment on the game? I don't trust games' journalists anymore.
Woo. Have fun.
I'd say the $500k will ruin the element of progression for gamers in the short term. I'd rather see R* fix the unbalanced financial system in Online. The cost of dying and the prohibitive time it takes to accumulate cash need fixed.
Yup.
And all of a sudden the marginal utility of the $ for GTA$ packs has dropped. Unintended market consequences, people!
It's become a meme of sorts. Ignorant people with no real opinion to offer can fall back on "Here's another iteration of the game that let's you kill prostitutes." Wash, rinse, repeat. Video game journalism generally has become something of this sort, rehashing the same tired tropes (race, gender, violence, graphics, fidelity to the "essence" of a series, "innovation", etc) with very little effort to say anything genuinely interesting. And that's ...

Regarding the realism: If earlier TR games weren't realism heavy (I can't speak to that - I didn't play them enough), then I can understand that the limitations placed on the series by the increased realism of the reboot might sting a fan of the originals. That being said, I'm personally a fan of increased realism, so this doesn't concern me as a consumer of the reboot.
Regarding the charge that Lara is a clone of Drake, I...
For those who read my first post above, I think this is a fair supplement from the point of view of fans of the original TR series. I was never a fan of the original series, though I played a good chunk of three of them. So if you go into the new TR expecting a revamped version of the original series, you'll be disappointed. It is far closer to Uncharted than to TR. I also think the rest of the points are fair (regarding survival, which I mentioned above, and the disconnect between killin...
For me it's one of the top five games of the year. I dropped $60 for it and don't regret it. But if you can pick up the console version cheaper, go for it. But then again, if your PC can handle it it might be worth getting that version for the better graphics and modding potential (though I've no idea what the modding scene is like).
It just occurred to me that I had one more criticism of the game: the survivor element wasn't as harsh as it could have been. I ...
This game excelled in so many ways. But there was so much focus on whether Lara properly represented "women" and on Square's ridiculous sales projections that other aspects of the game were neglected. I mean really, from characterization, to script, to cinematography, to combat, to graphics, to plain fun, this game was stellar. It had it's downside, namely the lack of tombs, but I'm happy writing that off given the nature of the plot: rather than giving us a simply tomb ...
My impression is that the current-gen console version is a waste of money.
Well I was online. But now my character has been deleted and I can't get online. So...yeah...
Honestly, I don't think GTAO is that great, and I've been playing it awhile now. Loses it's wow factor fast. Keep playing TLOU and maybe give Kingdoms of Amalur a shot if you got that free and haven't played it already.
I get in every time now. But after the initial "Yay!" and about 3 hours of causing havoc with random players, it's become kinda boring. Heists and buying houses will add some appeal when they unlock, but it's already losing is wow factor for me. It needs more than 16 players to a map for one thing.
My wife and I went to a Gamestop to pick up Dynasty Warriors 8. The guy told me to go easy on her in the game. My wife was understandably pissed, but bit her tongue. I told the guy she was better than me at the game, which she is.
I try to avoid the place when that guy works. It's a shame - the rest of the staff are cool.
