Not just the most money, my friend, but also the most power, most connections, most opportunities, clearest vision, and so forth. Our problems cannot be reduced to the simple equation "Money is the root of all problems." However, in general, the laws are made by a syndicate of people and institutions composed of, among others, the Federal Reserve, the Federal Government, the corporations, and interest groups, and the other centers of influence. The cruci...

You are choosing how to interpret my comments. I have been clear as to my intent. The evidence is available for all to see and to come to their own conclusions.

"[M]y central contention is that you are calling Microsoft liars." I already addressed this in my last response, where I open by saying "Your central contention is that I “have no reason to call [the headline ‘Kinect Cannot Transmit Facial Images’] a ‘lie’.”" As I have said three times now, that is...

Your central contention is that I “have no reason to call [the headline ‘Kinect Cannot Transmit Facial Images’] a ‘lie’.” You allow that I may have valid concerns regarding what data MS and the government possess, and with what they are doing with that data, but such concerns are neither here nor there with respect to the veracity of MS’s claims regarding the capacities of the Kinect. Any inference I make from MS’s policies or from the present legal system is a simple non sequiter.

Thanks for your reply.

(1) Concerning my shift of topic: By laying out how government permits MS to lie about their data collection and the quality and nature of that data, I show that MS's comments regarding facial transmission should be taken with a grain of salt.

(2) You say: "the kinect is not storing and transfering your image, but instead an encrypted, unidentifiable, numerical representation of your image." What is a a digital image but ...

My friend, I'll treat you with respect and courtesy, and respond fully.

First, I want to preface my longer point with this: many people only read news headlines, whether here or in newspapers or on news websites, and thus their entire perception of "the way things are" is gleaned from skimming headlines. To those people, a statement of the sort I made - "This is a blatant lie." - will hopefully stand out and encourage them to investigate a bit deeper. ...

This is a blatant lie. Let me explain.

1. The Kinect can capture HD quality video and images, because it can be used during Skype conversations.

2. The Kinect, further, can record and transmit (to the console) images and data that can be analyzed to determine the dimensions of your room, your position and balance, your heart rate, your emotional state, and other similar information.

3. All data RECORDED by the Kinect is TRANSMITTED to the c...

Very interesting. A large amount of what "conspiracy theorists" have said would happen has come to pass. Rhetorical speech by the media, by politicians, and by intellectuals has created a social stigma about the term "conspiracy theorist", even though the better "conspiracy theorists" are best thought of as investigative reporters. They do nothing more than report documented activities by governments and corporations. It is for us to listen and evaluate their rep...

Who makes the laws, my friend?

4476d ago 2 agree0 disagreeView comment

Precisely. And here's the CRUCIAL point. As will be clear from some internet research, the primary goal of this data collection operation is to profile the public to build up a behavioral database to be used in future operations (e.g. political operations, potential martial law operations, economic planning, etc.). A behavioral database is only as useful as the range of it's available data. Best way to increase the accuracy of the database? Extend data collection into the youth of the...

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Seriously though. This site flared up with largely serious discussion of this issue when Snowden first dropped news of PRISM and we all discovered that MS was in on it. It is for fools to dismiss the seriousness of this issue. Government and corporations - including MS - are in cahoots to collect data about all of us, from whatever source they can. There is AMPLE evidence for this, and all it would take is an hour of research to turn up, not "conspiracy...

PS4 FTW.

EDIT: Wow, that guy's chopper skills are amazing. Shame I had to cancel my PS4 preorder. Oh well. Next year.

Go you, bro. Go you. Now why don't you go report government oppression to your local statist manager. Enjoy the sense of power while it lasts.

Thanks for your input. Honestly, I liked the direction they took. It was bold, and it was enjoyable in some respects. Much of the plot kept me hooked and a number of missions had that definite GTA WOW factor.

There were some hints that a significant step in the story was coming - the A/B/C, the hunting previous "handlers", going after whats-his-name at the end. But though I figured something was up, the pacing confused the hell out of me and there was no sense of r...

I agree that statistically each store will have at least one bad egg. We still visit there, though at the moment a lack of funds is keeping us away. I think with the guy in question it's largely social ineptness. I think he thought he was "in" with me and could crack a joke - he just misjudged the situation and made an imprudent choice. I didn't write to complain to the manager for instance, which I would have done had I thought it was more than a goof.

We ...

Agreed. I literally had no idea I was in the final stretches of the game during the final mission. There was NO dramatic build up to a climax of the "plot". I only realized the truth when the credits started to roll. Turned to my wife and said "Oh, that was the end. OK..."

The thing that really got me about this iteration of the series was the lack of "bosses" giving missions. I thought I was still about half way through the game when the ending ...
