That was actually one of my biggest complaints with Human Revolution. Back in the original Deus Ex, melee weapons played a huge role in the game, including an awesome special melee weapon that had its own mission. With Human Revolution, I was really disappointed that the entire melee system was relegated to quick insta-kill moves. In many ways, I found that those insta-kill moves made the game far too easy, regardless of my play-style.
If it wasn't for the lack of a melee...
Like Malice-Flare mentioned, the key to getting skillful and playing well in any Souls game is to take your time. When you have a group of enemies, start by trying to draw one away from the crowd and pull them back into a one on one, or two on one fight. With bigger enemies, take your time to learn their moves. Aggro them, then just keep dodging around and see what they are capable of. Don't try to attack until you're really aware of what attacks they'll use against you.

I completely agree with you that Yakuza 0 needs to be localized, as does Ishin, however it's important to keep in mind that there's a ton of things besides the main 50 hours of content that need translation work.
There's somewhere near 100 mini games in every Yakuza now, each of which needs translating (just for a few examples: baseball, golf, fishing, darts, pool, karaoke, three entire casinos with drastically different games in each, bowling, multiple hostess c...
That's a bit of a tough question to answer, because it isn't quite that simple. It really isn't like God of War at all since that's fast paced hack & slash action. However it also isn't quite like Demon's Souls or Dark Souls. There are many similar elements to its predecessors, but the gameplay design has changed quite a bit.
For example, in Demon's Souls and Dark Souls, a lot of the gameplay had you focused on heavy shield use and being overly...
Yeah, seriously man. I have no idea what they were thinking. It isn't just the motion blur either (at least for me). It's also the fact that the camera doesn't move incrementally based on the amount of pressure you apply, but instead moves only either at full speed or not at all. That and a few of the control issues I've been running into are killing all of my enjoyment with the game. I really hope they patch this at some point.
From what I've read, it has to do with the outfit that you are wearing. I read this a bit too late myself, but according to the unofficial wiki for the game, if you wait to enter the area until after killing Darkbeast Paarl you'll have the Black Church gear set available, which you'll need to put on before heading into the area. I believe you can't let the hunter on the chaingun fire at all at you before this point.
If you didn't let him shoot at you and y...
I just finished off this boss less than 30 minutes ago, and it was surprisingly easy. My method was to move around the tombstones, get just close enough to provoke his attack, step out of range, then charge a heavy attack (usually one-handed). Even if he hits you as the attack is going off, you gain enough HP back from your hit that it should even out.
When he used his extended axe, I still used the same general method, but sometimes needed to a shot to stun him. And once he...
I was just talking with a friend about that earlier today. I wouldn't be surprised to see a bundle with the Morpheus, the PS4 camera, and a high profile FPS title like one of those. I'm interested to see what kind of experiences they have in mind for it, and how much support it will receive out of the gate. Personally, I'd like to see a Ratchet & Clank title made with Morpheus support.
I'm also thinking that Uncharted 4 has the possibility of getting a VR ...
Bullfrog, Origin, and Westwood were all incredible studios that really helped form some of golden years for PC gaming. Somewhere around here I still have old PC Gamer demo discs with preview trailers for Syndicate Wars and a lot of these studios' other titles, as well as my original copies of The Privateer, Wing Commander 3, several Ultima titles, and of course Command & Conquer: Red Alert.
Pandemic's closure was the most recent serious disappointment for me. Alt...
Thank you for making this blog posting and explaining everything in detail for those that are unaware. This is a discussion that I've had often with my friends and sometimes with folks on this site. In fact, I found it interesting that you mentioned Insomniac at the beginning and the drastic change from R&C: A Crack In Time to all of their following titles, as I was discussing this with someone on here about two weeks ago: 3993d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment
Actually Sungam, it looks like they are explaining in the article that not only heists, but the entire game was delayed on PC until April 14th. In this article they mentioned, "GTAV for PC will be arriving on April 14th at retail and as a digital download."
Also, looking on the Steam page, the release date has already been changed for GTAV to now indicate an April 14th release. So the entire thing was seemingly delayed for PC. I had initially thought the same as yo...
I'm with you there man. I've downloaded the demo for each PS3 Yakuza title as it launched in Japan prior to this, with the one exception being Ishin which I was hoping would quickly get localized to take advantage of being a really solid interesting looking game during the earlier months of the PS4's life. I'm still holding out hope for Ishin, but either way I'm looking forward to Zero and hopefully an official date for the localized version of Yakuza 5.
The Vita actually has a lot of really solid titles which could keep you interested and occupied for a long time, especially if you tend to enjoy JRPGs and similar style titles. Beyond Persona 4 Golden, some of my top recommendations would be Ys: Memories of Celceta (Action JRPG), Gravity Rush (action/adventure), Killzone: Mercenary (FPS/Online), Danganronpa 1 and 2 (Mystery/Visual Novel), Tales of Hearts R (Action JRPG), Freedom Wars (Action JRPG/Online Co-op), Soul Sacrifice (Action light-JR...
GamerGate is the general term that refers to a series of controversies that happened last year which implicate a number of game reviewers as having a series of far too personal relationships with a number of game developers and other industry figures, and as a result there was favoritism being shown toward them and dishonesty. These issues have since become more widespread and covering many more situations than just questionable relationships.
After being exposed for these a...
I completely agree. With Ratchet and Clank, it created a smoothness which no other platformer was really providing. As many people already discussed, there are multiple ways that having a higher framerate effects gameplay.
Beyond just the visuals feeling smoother, it also offers a reduced input lag which means that your actions on the controller become more responsive. It also provides a nice buffer like I mentioned in my above post. If you end up with intense areas with man...
Actually, Insomniac changed their stance during the PS3 era on framerates, deciding that their last 60 FPS title was going to be R&C: A Crack in Time. Every title after that ended up at 30 FPS (those included Resistance 3, R&C: All 4 One, R&C: Into The Nexus, R&C: Full Frontal Assault, and Fuse). That being said, I do hope that they again target 60 FPS for this new title and all their future work.
Personally, I think that their higher framerate games were amaz...
Definitely man. Weeding through the bad stuff on here has become a real hassle. But every so often you can engage in a really good discussion, help provide information, and even have a fair disagreement without mud-slinging. Not to mention that I've made some good friends on PSN and Steam through here. On that note, both you and Spore can feel free to add me on either service. I'm on both of them pretty often.
Sure thing man. I do a lot of audio work and I've actually got my own cartoon/game series I'm working on, so I love to know about all of these important industry people. For the voice acting work specifically, I can't express how hard most of these guys/girls work. They are the hidden faces and names that bring to life some of the most amazing characters, and their dedication to making proper dubs of anime and games is admirable to say the least.

Steven J Blum has been the voice of many characters over the years in both anime and video games, including Spike Spiegel (Cowboy Bebop), Roger Smith (Big O), Mugen (Samurai Champloo), Wolverine (many X-Men games), Bulletstorm (Greyson), and many, many more.
Yuri Lowenthal also has been in quite a lot of stuff, however his voice is most well known for the voice of Sasuke in Naruto (games and anime series). Other roles bigger roles he's been in have been are Yosuke (Perso...
Not a bad list, but I'd have to add two series that are have been missing in action for a while: Wild ARMs and .hack. Those two series had quite a number of games released on the PS2 but haven't been touched since then. Regardless, all of the games listed sound like great possible remasters. I'd love to see FFXII and Dark Cloud 2 get remasters. It would also be awesome to get the Yakuza HD collection localized.
