Why is it Tyson vs Ali? Why not have Ali vs De La Hoya or some other actually respected boxers who aren't more famous for being insults to the sport than for representing it?
It's like the article says: why single out MMO players when there are plenty others who conduct their hobby on company time? Like fantasy football players. I know WAY more guys these last few years who spent time at work looking at stats and planning their lineup than guys who sneak in quick WoW sessions while the boss is gone.

As for the reasoning for not hiring MMO players, it COULD make sense if everyone who played an MMO called in sick to work in order to raid. Like Lok said, it's kind of cheap lumping everyone who plays an MMO in with the very small percentage of hardcore fanatics/addicts.
They probably don't want WoW players, either, since they'll be distracted by the game and lose focus on gold farming.
Skate 2 is due out in January, so chances are it's already near completion, and if EA does cut the studio they won't do so until the game is done.

The patch may be the ultimate patch, but it's far too late to try and win non-hardcore fans back into the fold. They should have just delayed the game a few weeks and released a finished version in the first place.

That's actually a really good theory. I'm leaning more toward the "he used it as an inspiration for a portion of the MGS theme and didn't think people would consider it plagiarism, because it's only a minor similarity" side, but yours is just as likely.

I'm not sure what's more disappointing: the fact that well-written and thought provoking stories like this always pale in comparison to the "OMG IS PS3 DOOMED?!" ones, or the fact that so many people have apparently never read a story like this one before--when there have been hundreds, if not thousands, of well-written ones on the subject.
